What to expect
Meet your guide and small group in central Dublin for the scenic drive south to County Wicklow and the Wicklow Mountains National Park. Here, enjoy a guided walk around the Scalp, an area overlooking the Irish coastline. Absorb the atmosphere of deciduous woodland and panoramic views of the Irish countryside. Follow part of the Dublin Mountains Way trail, stopping at scenic viewpoints where you can enjoy views of the Wicklow Mountains National Park, the Dublin and Wicklow Coastline, as well as Dublin city and its surrounding areas. After a stop in the Victorian village of Enniskerry, used as a filming location in 'P.S. I Love You,' comes one of the most scenic portions of the route. Enjoy plenty of photo stops as you travel through Wicklow Mountains National Park, Lough Tay, the Guinness Estate, and Sally Gap. Finally, arrive at Glendalough, the tranquil valley best known for its 6th-century monastery founded by St. Kevin. Take a walk, relax, and see the sights before your driver brings you back to Dublin by a different—but also picturesque—route.

Given a different tour without prior notice or choice
The places we visited were great, but my main interest in this tour was the guided walk, which was cancelled without any prior notification from the company or the guide.

It does say that if underbooked you'd be given a choice to do something else, another date or a refund, but I was given the refund and another activity with no choice or prior notice.

We dropped off two ladies at a horse riding activity first (they booked another tour offered by the company and then they group all tours on the same bus) and then headed to Powerscourt, which was not on my itinerary, as I realized later.

Once there, the guide, Johnny, tells me I had a different ticket so I'm getting the difference to pay at the booth. I'm very confused by this and after some arguing he finally says then that the activity I booked had no other people, so I was getting a refund and had to do something else. He also kept insisting that it was all the same because I could go for a walk there (he was a bit aggressive and argumentative at this point, but in his defense he later apologized for our start with the wrong foot), also ignoring that I was not interested in the activity of walking just for walking, but for the places included in the walk.

Powerscourt is very beautiful, no denying that, but I would've liked to be informed of the cancelation before arriving at the alternative activity, so I could actually chose what I wanted to do, change the date or ask for a refund before departing.

Hi Luisa, I'm very sorry to hear this and I will check with Johnny why you didn't get to do the guided walk part of your tour. Maybe it was a bit lost in translation but i imagine it states clearly on your ticket about the walk so I will check .... thank you for making me aware of this issue.

Great tour with great guide/driver Rob
Oct. 2019 • Friends
My nephew and I come from Holland and spent a weekend in Dublin and decided to do this tour. We started the tour at 0930 hrs in the morning and arrived back in Dublin at 1800 hrs. Our driver/tourguide was Rob(ert), a real Irishman. During the tour he brought us at the right place at the right time. Full of humour he entertained us with good stories and facts. Because of the combination of his pleasant company and the very nice places we visited this was a day me and my nephew will never forget! We stopped for lunch at a nice place with good food and a good pint of Guinness. All the places we visited were worth visiting and at no place we spent either too long or too short. This is a tour I will recommend to everybody who is going to Dublin. Many thanks to Hilltoptreks and especially Rob!

We had a short trip to Dublin and booked this trip in advance.
It was a nice, rain-free day and.although there were traffic difficulties getting out of (and back into) city centre Dublin, the rest of the day was great.

Thank you very much for the positive review ... there is very little we can do about the traffic although we do try to avoid this by our times and directions against the traffic.

Aug. 2019
I took the Wicklow day trip with guided walk this August. Excellent guide, comfortable walking, good information about the area, charming lunch spot, and beautiful scenery. A highlight of my time in Ireland. Enchanted with the area - Gledalough especially - and am very interested in returning sometime to explore over a longer stretch of time.

We had a great time
We really enjoyed the tour of the Wicklow National Park and Glendalough. Our guide Johnny had a great sense of humour and so many stories to tell. We were late to the meeting point because we had an issue with the car rental company in the morning but Johnny waited for us which was really nice of him as he didn’t have to because it was totally our fault. Next time in Ireland we will definitely check their other tours.
