Great way to explore the city
Recently I took a fantastic trip to Dublin with friends, and the city sightseeing hop-on, hop-off tour was the perfect way to see everything! The setup made it so easy to explore Dublin’s amazing landmarks at our own pace. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for a fun and flexible way to experience the city!

      Very disappointed
Very disappointed booked a 48hr ticket for me and my friend and due to a marathon on in the Center, the buses didn’t run on the second day so was a complete waste of money. I contacted customer service and they said there was an alert on the app. I didn’t get the app because I downloaded my tickets so didn’t need it. Really out a downer on the weekend having to walk 30 minutes each way into town. Didn’t manage to get round everything and out of pocket. They shouldn’t have let me book.

      Best tour ever
This tour was absolutely brilliant , our guide Gerry was hilarious and informative. We enjoyed it so much we didn't get off at any of the stops because we didn't want to miss a thing.

      Terrible tour
Shocking! I bought the 48hr pass. What a waste of money! Miserable drivers who are unhelpful Pre recorded information, so completely out of sink to the tour due to traffic. Dont waist your money!

      DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
This company is a total fraud. Do not use them!! They are way understaffed and only show up to stops every 1.5-2 hours. You will spend your entire day just waiting on a buss. This company is a total Scam. DO NOT USE!

10/10 Recommend to See Dublin in 1 Day!!
The City Sightseeing bus tour is perfect if you want to see the most popular/touristy sites in one day in Dublin! The entire bus loop is around 2+ hours and buses come to each stop every 15-30 minutes, which is the perfect amount of time to explore each site. This bus is so much easier to navigate than public transportation or walking around the city for 3+ hours. The staff was also very nice and the bus had audio where we could listen to cool history facts and music!

New to Dublin, so this was a good way to see the sights
My friend and I booked a ticket from the street vendor earlier today, then got on the bus at the Spire. Sat upstairs and outsides in the dry but cold Dublin air! Gloves required. Good recorded commentary and history throughout, a bit cheesy but we just had to embrace being tourists for the day! We got off the bus half way to get some lunch at a pub, easy to get back on a different bus shortly after that to complete the tour. All major highlights covered, but also Phoenix Park which was great and more of a trek on foot otherwise. There are a few bus companies doing similar, but this was ideal for us today.

A good dose of carbon monoxide poisoning!
The drivers were great hats off to them but if your looking for a city bus tour, find a find a different bus company. Busses are so old and we all felt ill after travelling due to fumes given off by the bus engine. We had to get off after a few stops it got that bad. Second bus was exactly the same, avoid at all costs.

      Ok
Some facts. Bits of information but too late, as you have already passed the site. I think the driver was trying for a PB. We had to wedge ourselves in our seats.

      Not the best
Unfortunately we had a bad experience. We waited for about 50 minutes for the bus to come around. The competition had 4 buses go by during that time and an other competitor twice. The recorded narration on the bus was a huge disappointment. People Lost interest quickly. I took another hop on hop off bus and the driver narrated. It was excellent and more personal.

Good Way to Get Around, Except for tge Traffic
We enjoyed the hop on hop off tour and the places it took us to. The stops were easy to find and if you download their app you can track when the bus will be arriving at the stop you’re at. The one downside was later in the afternoon it look us 2 hours to get from Christchurch Cathedral back to the first stop because if the traffic volume. We missed one stop because we would’ve run out of time and the buses end at 5pm

Upper deck not good on rainy days
We had just one day in Dublin, so using the hop on hop off service was a good way to see the key landmarks in the city. Overall, it worked well for us. We joined the bus at the Guiness Storehouse and choose to remain on the bus for the rest of the route back into the main part of the city centre. I’m assuming we just missed a bus as we had a 20 minute wait for one to arrive at the Storehouse (other providers buses turned up in the interim) but 15-20 minute intervals is in line with the published service information so that was just our unfortunate timing. On the day we visited Dublin there were many rain showers. Whilst the tour company cannot control the weather, using a bus with a partial covering on the upper deck would create a better experience for customers. We have seen the partial covered buses in other cities on our travels, they also shade some of the sun on hot days. We spent some of the time on the upper deck which was ideal and then downstairs when it rained, but couldn’t return upstairs when the rain stopped as all the seats were wet and unusable unless you were happy with a very soggy behind. The journey on the bus was at times quite slow, as it’s a busy place, there are several stops and traffic lights on the route so allow plenty of time to cover the distance. It’s a useful way to see the city but its not necessarily speedy ! Our final top tip is to look for deals – these types of buses can be quite expensive. We picked up a Groupon offer which saved us several euros for our group – had we have paid the published price I would have rated lower.

We recently visited Dublin while doing a British Isles cruise. With an overnight stop in Dublin we decided to do the hop on hop off tour the first day in Dublin. Part of the reason we chose this tour was that one of the stops on their 2 routes was at Kilmainham Gaol. We had “timed tickets “ for the jail museum and felt this tour would serve two purposes. Getting us to the jail for our tour as well as giving us a tour of Dublin’s highlights. The bus tour was good all by itself. We used both the red and blue route before and after the Kilmainham tour and the red route with live tour guide was our favourite. It was a great way to discover Dublin and it helped us plan other activities. Thumbs up!

As our hotel room wasn’t ready when we arrived, early in the morning, we stored our luggage and decided to ride the Hop On Hop Off bus which stoppped right beside our hotel. We were pleasantly surprised at how much we saw, the broad area covered and the amount of information about each area. Well worth the time and makes it easy to visit tourist attractions.

Just got home after doing hop on hop off tour I taught i try it out ask people keep asking me which one is the best. Don't get me wrong it is good and staff are great but where the tour bus bring you in the city center is all walking distance, what you pay on bus could be used for a lovely lunch as most museums are free to visit .While your walking you get to see a lot more sights. Anyway thanks to the drivers for the work they do.

Hi Liz, Thanks for your review. I do understand your point about some attractions being very close to each other, and would have to agree that some are well within walking distance. But bringing people to different attractions is not the sole purpose of our tour. It is just one branch of a ver big tree. The main reasoning behind the tour is to educate visitors on the wonderful history of Dublin, from its Medieval and Viking past right up to what is going on today. And with the blue route giving you a chance to see areas such as Glasnevin and Croke Park we think our service is second to none. We do hope you give us another go in the future. And be sure to reach out ahead of time and we can give you a discount! Our email is hello@citysightseeingdublin.ie. All the best, Brian L

It was so cold that being on the upper deck did not work, but the view from the lower deck was great. I love Hop On Hop Off bus tours great. A host of languages to choose from. It's a great way to see where things are and sort of get oriented when you visit a new city. And watching the sights with the map, made it so easy to come back and see more in detail. Always a great way to start a visit. LOVED IT!

They didn't tell us the route before we started, but in talking to others at the hotel, it was highly recommended. We added it to our day tour ticket and are glad we did. The tour took us to several excellent stops and our guide, Ross, was hilarious. We saw various parts of the city along with a few coastal stops. Enough bathroom stops and the right duration to get back at a reasonable time for dinner. You won't be sorry.

There is no need to buy this before arriving in Dublin. It is a very walkable city wotj plenty of public transportation options. I purchased a ticket for 2 people for 2 days and never got to use it. Workers were very cooperative issuing our tickets and then explaining it would be shorter to walk to our destination than taking the bus. I would have requested a refund. My fault for not doing better research.

Thank you for your feedback. While Dublin is indeed a walkable city with great public transport options, our hop-on, hop-off tours aim to provide added convenience and historical insight for visitors. We're glad to hear our staff were cooperative, though we're sorry you didn’t get the chance to fully enjoy the service.

Be aware that the title "Dublin shore excursion" is misleading. This tour does NOT pick cruise passengers up at the port - you must find your own way into the city (It says so in the "fine print" but not prominently). Once in the city, it was difficult to find the bus location. Ended up taking a different tour.

the most informative trip I have had. I have taken it 5 or 6 times and it's a new experience every time. took the 1916 tour ( don't know if it's still running) but it was the best tour I have been on. being from Dublin I thought I knew it all, but the guides ( especially Eddie) on the tour we're amazing. with their local knowledge, and little details of events and places around the city. would highly recommend taking this tour.

Eoin 100% made this tour so perfect! We were excited to see the Malahide Castle and town of Howth and could not have been happier with our decision to utilize this tour group to do it with. While we were still getting used to the time change (being from California) we had initially missed our departure time, but after reaching out to the tour company, they were quick to allow us the opportunity to take the afternoon trip instead! It was so COLD but Eoin’s humor and knowledge made it all that much better!

    Thank you so much, Eoin!!
