The Coast and Castles tour was our second day tour with Joe. We enjoyed the South Donegal tour so much and were excited about traveling with Joe again on this tour. Joe picked us up in Donegal Town and before heading out, we pulled off to see the most incredibly carved, large Celtic Cross. Second stop was to be Grianan Aileach, an ancient stone fort, built up on a hill with an incredible 360 degree view of the beautiful surrounding landscape. The fort itself is so unique and the scenery has to be seen to be believed. From there it was an interesting drive, with many twisty roads, to reach the Fanad Lighthouse. The lighthouse if beautifully maintained and has incredible views out to Malin Head and the Ocean. They have a really cool virtual reality film about the sinking of the HMS Saldanha, which crashed off the coast. You can climb the stairs up to the top to see the views. From the lighthouse it is a bit of a drive to Glenveagh Nation Park, so we stopped for a view of Doe Castle from across the lake, so that we would have plenty of time to see the Glenveagh Castle and some of its gardens. The Castle and the views from it and around the gardens are well worth seeing, again fascinating history. Thanks again to Joe for a second fantastic day exploring Donegal, this time the north and central part of the County. More people really need to see the hidden gems of Donegal County!

This was an amazing experience, that we booked during a cruise ship visit. The music and dancing was brilliant, and the hosts and performers were really friendly and welcoming. I’d recommend this for any visitors to Killybeggs.

Booked a private tour around Donegal in search of relatives. Joe Greene proved a highly informed guide through Donegal who went well out of the way in search of sites associated with family who immigrated in the 17th century. After family search spent a most pleasant day touring ancient ruins, Columbkille sites, and into Derry. Joe was totally open to all suggestions and did everything possible to make the day memorable. The car was new and very comfortable. If you value personal service and local knowledge, Chieftain Tours is perfect for you.

Our tour guide Joe was extremely knowledgeable of the history and areas we visited. The amount of time at each destination was appropriate. We traveled in style in a private luxury passenger van. Highly recommend 10/10!

Joe Greene of Chieftain Tours is simply outstanding! He is gregarious, funny, smart and very creative! We had a personal tour of sites in Donegal and Northern Ireland. He speaks Irish and seems to know everyone! Very knowledgeable. If you are in search of a challenging walking tour of Ireland's sites, Joe is #1 ! He easily climbed up steep inclines at the Slieve League Cliffs and the Giant's Causeway which made me jealous! I strongly recommend him if you want an interesting, informative and engaging tour experience. He can customize a tour to fit your interests.

The guide was pleasant, knowledgeable and told great stories. The tour stops were fascinating and lunch was delicious.

Joe and Maureen were amazing - knowledgeable, easy going, and SO patient with the very challenging group of non-listeners/non-readers. It would have been miserable to be stuck with those folks on most excursions, but Joe and Maureen kept things going so we all had a good time. The mini bus is really nice and allows the tour to drive all the way to the top of Sligh Lough…bigger buses have to have guests transfer to a shuttle or walk. They somehow arranged things with the Rusty Mackerel to have everyone order and be served in record time, and the food was excellent. The monastery and castle were great and very well explained as well. We’ve been on many cruises to many places, and this was among the best excursions we’ve ever done!

We recently stopped over in Killybegs and decided to go see the music show. It was a short 10min walk from our ship to the center of town, where the venue was located. The venue is in a nice room in the local hotel and is fully accessible which was important to us. The show itself was great with some traditional Irish music as well as a ballad singer and some great Irish dancers. After the show, we had a coffee in a nearby cafe which was suitable named "Ahoy!" Bus tours are not usually our thing, so this was a welcomed treat. Would recommend.

This was a wonderful experience, the music was fantastic, powerful ballads by such a great singer, the dancers were amazing and the location of the venue, the Tara Hotel was perfect, only 10 minute walk from the harbor. I would definitely recommend it.

Such an exhilarating experience. Omg, what a great show. Had such an amazing time and was a really enjoyable couple of hours, spent amongst friends! The music and singers where top class. Even though the musicians where phenomenal, the dancers are what made the experience for me. Highly recommend, great way to spend a few hours on your visit to Killybegs.

We had a wonderful time with Sean on Chieftain tours. His smaller tour buses (but still very nice!) allowed us to go places the larger tour buses could not. We saw many of our ship board mates waiting for shuttle busses to take them from the lower parking lots to the top of the cliffs, while we were able to drive up ourselves. The place they picked for lunch was amazing, including wonderful entertainment. The tour was well organized, and I felt we spend just the right amount of time at each of the activities. Highly recommended!

We booked this at the last minute as our ship had a major change in itinerary due to weather. Once booked we rec'd a note from Chieftain with all info on the coming excursion. I did have questions which were answered same day. We were in it for the cliffs but I was very impressed with the presentation of the Abbey and Castle. Our tour guide was very well spoken and knowledgable. He had a great sense of humor too. We had some time to roam town and shop. When we stopped for lunch we had THE BEST seafood chowder ever!!! And to top it off our guides came in and recited poetry and sang!!! They were AWESOME!!! What a personal touch!!! Unfortunately we never got to see the cliffs due to the mist. Our guide did bring us up to try but the mist won. I still feel the tour was very worth it even though we didn't get our views. Thank you so much to Cheiftain!!!!

Our trip was amazing . We saw a castle in Donegal. A beautiful little town. Lots of shops and a historic Franciscan Cemetery. Delicious treats with Cappuccino’s. Lunch at Rusty Mackerel with lots of fun with Irish songs and lots of knowledge from our tour guide Keith. He is a famous writer straight from Donegal, his home town ! Then off to see the cliffs . Amazing day !
