      A highland experience with Cliff
The highlight of our trip was definitely the group which bonded so well and our tour guide cum driver Cliff Hands...Though we were traveling the whole of first and last day, there were multiple halts on both days...The second day was the most magical with the highlight being the climb up The Old man of Storr and the tour of isle of skye..We have to thank Cliff for that...The halts at various places including Eilean Donan castle and Loch Ness and various other places, though short was much cherished...

      The Best Day-Tour
Recently attended the one-day Isle of Skye tour with Chris Allan as our guide. He was incredibly knowledgeable, moonlighted as our photographer when requested, and willing to chat when questions were asked. We were making good time and he suggested an alternative viewpoint stop which turned out to be incredibly beautiful! The ride was comfortable and safe! We had some of the best weather on Skye according to multiple guides, so overall, an absolute win! Thank you Timberbush!

      Beautiful Isle of Skye!
I had a great experience going with Timberbush tours and having Alex as a guide. Alex was very friendly and knowledgeable on the area and culture. The places we stopped at and the views along the drive were incredible! Unfortunately our bus got stuck in the snow at Old Man of Storr so we didn’t get to see Kilt Rock (in the day light). Lack of daylight in November is truly to blame for this (because the snow made the highlands look so magical and Alex is a fantastic driver).

Isle of Skye! Amazing trip day
Great day out in the Highlands and Isle of Skye. Alex was a great guide, he explained in detail information about all the stops we made, as well as telling us anecdotes about life on the island, as he lived there for many years. Highly recommended! Hopefully we will be able to come back soon and spend more time on the island.

      Great tour & guide
Skye is really beautiful and Eilean Dolan is a great stop on the way there. Very well organized tour, confortable coach, very knowledgeable guide - Alex. The tour is long (aprox 11 Hours) but has plenty of stops, all well timed. We didn’t feel rushed to hop on the bus. Would definetely go on other tours with Timberbush.

Cramped bus 8+ hours w/ no arm rests
HORRIBLE!! I was placed in a middle seat (back of bus) with NO arm rest, and no window, for about 8 hours of the 12 hour day. I had a total stranger jammed tightly against my arm and thigh (and I am a small, slim woman). My seat width was 14 inches (35cm) in total. Some other people on the bus had window or aisle seats, but this operator decided to sell EVERY SINGLE SEAT ON THE BUS and so i was jammed into the back. Note, I arrived more than 15 minutes before pre-dawn departure; there were inexplicably several "reserved" rows in front that later arrivals claimed (??what??). The driver also announced that seatbelts were optional, so the person jammed against my body never bothered to strap in. The departure point was also NOT at the train station as advertised but at an obscure industrial area. FINALLY, there was no tour guide!! The bus driver (who was a lovely old grandpa person) DOUBLED as the audio guide while also trying to steer a huge bus all day! Extremely unsafe!! AVOID THIS HORRIBLE TOUR!!! NEVER AGAIN!!!

Unforgettable trip with a great guide
As the title mentions, this day trip is unforgettable. We were lucky to have Mike as a guide who made sure we were entertained throughout the drive with providing us facts and a few jokes here and there. Although the weather was quite gloomy, we were not disappointed and felt it added a nice touch to the day trip. We were given enough time at each stop to take pictures and take in the view. Unfortunately we did have some disrespectful people on the bus who were inconsiderate people’s time and used an additional 20 minutes taking pictures while it was already time to go. I do wish the guide would’ve left them there but eh. Do not think twice and book this tour, it was amazing! The pictures do not do it justice.

      Best Bus Tour in Scotland!
The tour that we took with Alex on November 13th was fantastic! He was so knowledgeable, answered all of our questions and had amazing stories to keep us entertained! The whole drive went so smoothly and he stopped at so many locations for us to take photos, even spots that were not on the itinerary because we had extra time. Every spot we saw was breathtaking and I would recommend this tour to every person I know that wants to visit the Isle of Skye and Eilean Donan Castle! Thank you Alex!

      Unforgettable trip to the Sky!
Travelling from Inverness to the Isle of Sky with our guide Alex was the highlight of my trip to Scotland! Not only was Alex so pleasant and accommodating, he made us laugh the entire trip and knew all the best photo stops! Even making a few unplanned stops if we had extra time. Alex provided so much history and lovely stories that I’ll always remember, I will be booking with Timberbush again!

Alex knocked it out of the park again !!! Isle of Skye tour. Beautiful scenery that will bring you to tears. The Original Highlander Castle Eilean Donan, Portee Harbor, The old man Storr... A lot of wonderful places. Alex also was full of knowledge and friendly banter to keep the long almost 12 hour tour going nicely. Highly Recommend !!!

We would have loved to have gone on this tour and were very much looking forward to it however it was cancelled at the last minute which was very disappointing. I completely understand that the tour must have minimum numbers to operate however when we have had similar experiences with other tour companies, we’ve been pre-warned days in advance that a tour may not operate, however here we were given less than 24 hours notice. The worse thing is that the tour company took payment from my account 24 hours before the cancellation, surely they knew at this point the tour wasn’t going ahead!? The tour company did offer us alternatives which unfortunately didn’t suit and we did get a full refund however we did then have the stress of changing our plans at the last minute. I do think the company should keep their clients in the loop more if there are low numbers on a tour and not be so blasé about cancelling. I’m sure the tour is great but if you do book, have a back up plan just in case!

Hi sms1992, I'm very sorry you tour was not unable to go ahead. We do try to keep our tours live in the booking system as many people book last minute, we would certainly not charge anyone unnecessarily. I will pass your feedback on to our Operations Team. All the best, Amy

This is an underrated tour in my opinion. I had such a good time and I enjoyed a lot. The bus was very comfy and the temperature control inside the bus was perfect. Our tour guide Kathleen and Sinclair was awesome. I’ll give them 5stars. Very knowledgeable, calm, helpful and very good driver. They gave us lots of photo stops and toilet stops. The dunrobin castle was beautiful. You are allowed to take photos without flash inside the castle. There’s lots of stuffed animals and animal skin inside the castle. The view from the castle was mesmerising.
The garden was beautiful as well. So many beautiful things to enjoy and so little time. We had lunch in a very small sea food place at Dunbeath, which is a hidden gem in my opinion. I had a tub of crab meat. The shop is called Tasty Toes. Thanks again to the tour guide to suggest a place like this. John o groats was beautiful. Don’t forget to walk around and then you’ll find the colourful buildings where you can take your pictures. The tour guides gave us enough time to explore and fortunately it was not raining. There’s a Christmas shop in John o groats. I bought a Christmas decoration with John o groats written on it. Then we went to meet the highland coos. They’re very cute but didn’t get a chance to pet them as they were on the other side of the fence. Then had ice cream from a shop called capaldis of Brora. Then our guides took us to watch the seals. We were fortunate enough to see the seals (with binoculars). They were spending lazy time on the beach far away from human reach. I’m glad that I booked this tour and very grateful. It’s a wonderful tour.

Thank you for your amazing review! We are glad to hear you had a great time with Kathleen and Sinclair on your John O'Groats, Dunrobin Castle & the Far North tour! The certainly know how to make a tour special and where to find the best hidden gems! It sounds like you had an amazing lunch and a lovely visit to Dunrobin Castle! We are so happy to hear that you had enough time to wander around and take in the sights, as well as experience some of the beautiful nature that Scotland has to offer. Being able to see the seals is definitely a special experience! We love that we were able to share the beautiful scenery of Scotland with you, and hope to see you again sometime soon for another adventure! All the best, Alex

We took a tour with Timberbush in July '23 to John O'Groats and while we were initially hesitant to book a day tour we are SO glad we did. Our guide, Liall, was humble, witty, and kind; a true pleasure to talk with. He really made sure that everyone was comfortable and got what they wanted out of the day, including making extra stops even though it meant he worked a longer day. Liall being from the area we were touring was an added plus as he was able to share stories and additional information that may not have normally been shared. Despite this being Liall's first time leading this tour he did a phenomenal job! We would definitely book a Timberbush Tour again. The tour itself was well thought-out and stopped at both places of historical importance and natural beauty. The bus was comfortable for our group, and Liall drove it well. Thank you Liall, for making this trip to John O'Groats a highlight of our 2-week stay in Scotland!

The trip was a bit of a disappointment as we were expecting from the tour description to see puffins only to discover when we got to the lookout that they had since gone back out to sea for the season. Our driver while full of information actually fell asleep at the wheel while driving us back in the dark. It was very scary and he then had to pull over several times and turn all the internal lights on inside the bus to stay awake. A most upsetting way to end our time in Inverness.

Dear stacidar, Many thanks for your review. Please could you kindly contact us directly on tours@timberbushtours.com to clarify when you went on tour? Currently this tour does not return in the dark and you are making a very serious allegation which I would like to follow up with the driver concerned. Regarding the puffins, our description says: "perhaps see some local wildlife. John O’Groats is one of the best places in the UK to see Atlantic puffins, you might also see some grey seals or even an orca!" We certainly do not promise you see this wildlife. Kind regards, Lisa

The weather wasn’t particularly cooperative with rain and a lot of fog, so some of the sights were unfortunately not as good as they might have been, including the lighthouse cliff walk and a stop at the harbour. Nonetheless Gillian was an excellent guide and did her utmost to keep the group entertained, including with a lot of music and interesting stories. John O’Groats is a great stop and the food was very tasty. Dunrobin Castle a highlight despite power outage meaning only the gardens were accessible. One suggestion would be to make sure that people know 1) the tour is a fully guided tour and 2) it’s in English. A lot of people on my tour spoke little to no English and / or were not interested, with the consequence that they spent most of the time on the bus talking among themselves.

Well, what can I say? What a brilliant trip. Our driver/guide was Ian. He was brilliant! He kept us entertained all day & told us lots of extra bits of information that they wouldn't have learnt otherwise. He even tried his best to find some "hairy coos" or "shaggy coos" for our daughter! We visited Loch Fleet first & saw seals! We then visited Dunrobin Castle. Well worth a visit. John O'Groats was good, with time to have the usual photos & lunch. We had many other stops along the way & we even saw salmon jumping through the water. Thank you Ian, were brilliant!

The tour left promptly and from the start Julians passion for his homeland was obvious. He had a great sense of humour too and took us to see some amazing sights but also some real local places like The Trinkie. He shared his childhood memories of how things used to be too all fascinating. There were plenty of comfort breaks and the balance was just right. One small criticism was the lack of space on the small tour bus which was uncomfortable at times.

I had yet another great tour with Timberbush Tours back in the summer. Ryan is a great guide, passionate about what he does and always ready to offer a super informative anecdote about Scottish history/culture or just a joke. I had another tour with Ryan a couple of years earlier (The Isle of Skye & Eilean Donan Castle) and I will definitely book another one soon. This tour included a visit to the majestic Dunrobin Castle and the lovely northern route all the way to John O'Groats. I cannot recommend Timberbush Tours more. Have great memories from these trips.

This is a full day trip. Our mini bus arrived on time and Alex, our driver/guide gave us a nice welcome and detailed information on the day’s program. The morning stops were nicely timed and spaced, although it would be much better to allow passengers to see the full falconry display at Dunrobin Castle, only thirty minutes, rather than to have to leave before it finished.
Owing to the distance travelled in the day, we did not reach John O’Groats until after 2.00 pm which made for a late lunch. There was just enough time for a meal, a few photos, and a very quick visit to a gift shop before re-boarding for the long ride to Inverness.
There was a thirty minute stop during the return journey to allow Alex a mandatory rest break, but this was not a great experience for the passengers as, at the time, it was rainy and windy and the location was not particularly exciting.
Overall, we are glad we took the trip, and would recommend it.
Throughout the trip, Alex provided a good commentary and gave enough information, without continually talking, which gave us time to view the scenery without having to concentrate on the narrative.
Overall, we are glad we took this tour. Alex had a great commentary, and was a brilliant driver.

Our tour guide was phenomenal. She was so kind and informed on the area. The drive included gorgeous scenery. We loved the history at the castle and exploring its garden after a bit of cake and tea. John O'Groats is windy and cold being pretty far north so bring a jacket and cash for food/driver tip as there are many ATMs at the final location. Our guide even made an impromptu stop for pics with a Hairy Coo. Safe travels!
