Whisky-Tasting Day Trip from Edinburgh
From USD 50.73
Overview
Scotland’s whisky distilleries are widely considered the best in the world, with a history dating back centuries. On this full-day tour, spin through the Scottish Lowlands by air-conditioned mini-coach with your guide, and sample Scotch whisky at the Glengoyne Distillery and Deanston Distillery. You’ll have time to explore the shores of Loch Lomond in the Trossachs National Park, with round-trip travel from Edinburgh included.
What to Expect
Meet your guide in central Edinburgh in the morning, and take a seat in your air-conditioned mini-coach. Then, spin out of the city into the Scottish Lowlands to begin your full-day tour. Along the way, soak up sweeping views over the Scottish countryside as your guide sheds light on the country’s whisky-making history.

First, stop at the Glengoyne Distillery in Dumgoyne and take a guided tour. Here, see how Scottish whisky is made the traditional way, sample some of the whiskies in production, and learn what makes the Glengoyne Distillery’s whiskies so special.

Continue on through the beautiful Trossachs National Park to Loch Lomond—one of the region’s top natural attractions. You’ll have plenty of time here to admire the dramatic lake and mountain scenery, and stop for lunch (own expense).

Next, visit the Deanston Distillery—nestled on the banks of the Teith River and widely considered Scotland’s most environmentally friendly distillery. During your tour, see how whisky is made the Deanston way and taste two types of single malt Scotch.

When your time at the Deanston Distillery comes to an end, return in comfort to central Edinburgh to conclude your tour.

Magnificent views and great distilleries

We visited two distilleries (Glengoyne and Deanston) and travelled to Loch Lomond. Both distilleries are located in picturesque places, although the true gem (in terms of views) is Loch Lomond. Charles was an amazing guide with lots of fun and interesting stories about Scotland and...More

An awesome day trip sampling some good whisky

A very good day trip to the Highlands and Lowlands, visiting two very nice distilleries (Glengoyne and Deanston). Really liked the contrast (Glengoyne being a bit more traditional while Deanston is the more 'modern' distillery type). Our tour guide Roger was a very good driver...More

Day in the country- with added whisky

The days events took place at the edge of the Highlands and it took about an hour and a half to get there, but on the way Bruce gave us some entertaining stories about Edinburgh and the background to whisky making. It was a glorious...More

The one we joined was not private. It was, however, with 8 other people so felt like a ‘private’ one. If you visit the tour operator’s website there is a section about private tours. Best to get in touch with them as they... More
