About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 133carenl0 contributionsVera tours are the best!Wonderful half day tour with Amanda and full day tour with Fran! Visiting locations where Vera scenes were filmed after seeing video clips of the Vera episode were great! And we enjoyed all the local information that they both shared along the way! We would encourage all Vera fans to go on both tours! A big shoutout to the best coach driver, Jake, whose driving was safe and fantastic!Written 27 August 2024
- Chris_W_NOVA0 contributionsAround town and beyond…Perfect half day tour to see sights in Newcastle and along the coast. Josh was our guide who kept the tour lively and Adam was our driver who always remained steady on the wheel. Hop along to different “Vera” filming locations with either a quick snack (or walk) in Whitley Bay. Weather was up and down on our tour but a good introduction to the Newcastle/Northumberland area.Written 2 August 2024
- Soph_G_N0 contributionsNot worth the money paidWhen you go on a tour, you expect it to be all about the series. With this, we went a bit further than Whitley bay before going back into central Newcastle. You see a few locations and that's it. We had 2 breaks about half hour each, which I thought was a waste of time in itself as that could be time to tell more information about the series or even show some other locations .....so around an hour just wasted. The tour doesn't need to be 4 hours as it's really not much. Then there's the talking about Newcastle itself, which doesn't really have any relevance to the series in my opinion, that was boring, I don't need to know about who designed and built buildings and bridges, irrelevant to the series despite it being filmed in and around Newcastle. To be honest I was bored. I'd say maximum 2/2 and a half hours for this tour is more than enough and it is definitely overpriced at ÂŁ42 for what it is. I wouldn't go on it again.Written 8 July 2024
- sweetperfection0 contributionsGreat Vera TourOur guide Josh was fantastic. He is very knowledgeable about Newcastle and the surrounding areas. His sense of humour made the tour even more enjoyable. The driver Paul was great. The tour was overall amazing for Vera fans as it covers quite a few locations and Josh presented loads of interesting facts. My partner is not a huge Vera fan but he enjoyed the tour too as we passed by some picturesque locations and Josh told us trivia not only about Vera but also about Newcastle and the other areas we visited.Written 25 May 2024
- Bami17080 contributionsInteresting and informative - Vera tour of NewcastleThe tour guide, Amanda, really made it very interesting as she brought insight from having beena supporting artist on the actual show. She and the driver, Walter, managed to find a reasonable workaround when we unexpectedly encountered a road closure. As someone who was brought up in the North East, she also provided a lot of local information which I didn't know about.Written 13 April 2024
- jeffreycC4758CB0 contributionsGreat coverage of series sitesGood coverage of scenes in the Vera series, with video replays to jog our memories. Also served as a good intro to local Newcastle sites. The coach was also very comfortable.Written 1 October 2023
- tymetraveller220 contributionsAbsolutely Fantastic - Great for Non Vera Watchers Also as lots of Info About The North EastWe had a gift for a half day Vera tour. Our guide was the incredibly enthusiastic Fran and in capable safe hands with driver Bryn. I would say to anyone who hasn't watched Vera this is also a good tour for you as there is lots of information about the locality also not relating to Vera. History of Newcastle, shipyards, first lightbulbs, museums etc. We learnt so much. The coach was on time, immaculate - in fact never seen a coaches windows so clean. Around Newcastle up to Whitley Bay, Tynemouth, pass Seaton Delval Hall, the coast etc. It was just wonderful we enjoyed it immensely. There were people from all over on the tour, America, Australia etc and also all ages. Thank you to Fran, the enthusiasm, the knowledge, the well researched facts. This tour was full and a lot of people going on the full day tour the following day. Absolutely fantastic thank you to all and also for hosting this tour to show the beautiful North East to the world. EXCEPTIONAL. Btw everyone had a great view.Written 1 October 2023
- 0f6t0 contributionsVery Good TourWas a very good tour, Fran the guide was an excellent guide, visited a number of the filming locations, after watching clips on the TV along the way before visiting the scenes, was also given a lot of information about Newcastle. Would recommend this tour.Written 22 August 2023
- Jeff D0 contributionsExcellent tour.Excellent tour for all fans of Vera. Lots of interesting facts and great scenery. We saw lots of filming locations and the snippets of Vera videos before we arrived was great.Written 21 August 2023
- 924kathr0 contributionsWhat a great TourThe tour started promptly with Fran introducing herself & our driver Mark. She then went on to outline what we could expect from our tour There was plenty of Vera related information throughout the tour interspersed with clips from the TV series that tied in with where we were at the time. Fran was an enthusiastic & entertaining guide who included information about the area in general alongside the Vera related information. This all added to the experience. There were stops along the way where we could leave the coach & get a drink/ice cream if we wanted to. We had a very enjoyable trip which even my husband, who isn’t a stalwart Vera fan, enjoyed. Well worth going on this tour. The scenery was also beautiful.Written 20 August 2023
- 911vivienc0 contributionsNewcastle at its finest!Fantastic! I would definitely recommend this tour! Fran, our lovely tour guide, knew her stuff! Excellent job of covering all the spots with loads of detail and fun facts!!! Walter our driver did an amazing job of navigating us around the area through the pouring rain and busy traffic!Written 12 August 2023
- Rodney L0 contributionsGreat funTook the 4 hour trip because the 8 hour didn’t suit our itinerary dates - note that they only operated every 2 weeks in July23. Josh was a very knowledgeable and enthusiastic leader and Bryn navigated the route expertly in the full size coach. There was commentary, location clips from the show and several stops to get a closer look. The 8 hour trip visits Vera’s home on the Holy Isle which is much further away from Newcastle than we went, but it apparently doesn’t visit all the spots we did. Well recommended.Written 9 July 2023
- Global547762768250 contributionsGreat trip.Tour guide ,while seeming quite new to the job, made up for it with his friendly personality and i really enjoyed the trip.lots of facts, not just about vera but all the other places we travelled through.the driver was excellent as well.Written 9 July 2023

Absolutely fantastic day in Northumberland. Eight hours of guided tour by the wonderfully knowledgeable Anna and superb driving by Gary. We visited Vera's home on Lindisfarne along with numerous locations of murder scenes all interspersed with DVD's setting the scene for us. We travelled north from Newcastle to Amble, Alnmouth, Seahouses, Bamburgh, Lindisfarne, Warkworth, Alnwick. Stopping regularly for comfort breaks and refreshments as well as the best vantage points for photo opportunities. For October the weather was wonderful. Some walking to Vera's home halfway along the Causeway was required, comfortable shoes are a must.

Great Vera tour with our guide Ann, who not only provided all the Vera information, but had many stores and anecdotes of sites related to the tour. Wonderful and a day very well spent. Just some amazing scenery and Holy Island was a treat to visit. If you are from the Maritimes, the coastal scenery will feel like a taste of home.

What a wonderful experience. Our guides Fran and Anne, plus our driver from Stanley Coaches were extremely friendly and welcoming. The tour itself was amazing, showing a number of Vera locations. Our guides, whilst commenting on the Vera locations, also gave us interesting historical facts about places and people in and around Newcastle and Northumbria. A number of the sites merit further visits as time is limited at each stop. Definitely would do it again.

Loved it! Fran, tour tour guide was extremely knowledgeable, sharing so much detail and fun facts! Our driver was terrific as well. Only wish we had more time on Lindisfarne/Holy Island to soak in the atmosphere. What a unique place. As a huge Vera fan, I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Northumberland is gorgeous, even if it rained most of the day Lol! I was born in Wallsend so the rain was no surprise LOL! I highly recommend this tour!!

Excellent tour, a must for Vera fans. Plenty of information and facts. Fantastic scenery. Only let down by the coach. It was very hot! Asked the driver to make it cooler and put on the fan for about 30 seconds before turning it off before driving off. Also we had to sit at the back and every time the guide said look to your left all we saw was the toilet! Perhaps change the coach?

I did the half day tour last year which my children bought me as a Christmas gift the previou year. I thoroughly enjoyed that day so last Christmas they purchased the full day. What an amazing day! Fran is an excellent guide, knowledgeable about Vera and the locations. Plenty of references to scenes in the series gorgeous scenery, renewed my acquaintance with Lindisfarne. Stopped off in Seahouses for fish and chips. If you love Vera this really is the tour for you, even saw Vera's land-rover driving off Lindisfarne as we were going towards it.I'll be booking for next year.

Had a superb day, Fran, Amanda and Josh were excellent and extremely knowledgable. Great to hear about the background of the Vera books as well as the history of the area. The clips from the to series that showed the locations that we visited also added to the experience. All in all a wonderful day and would highly recommend this to everyone.

This tour was brilliant from start to finish.
Fran our Tour Guide was amazing. She is a lovely warm, friendly lady who knows her topic through and through plus her knowledge of the local History was so informative.
Not to forget Jordan our tour driver who made it possible to get there!
Our visit to The Holy Island was really great and then Seahouses where we had lunch and of course Fish & Chips, Vera's favourite food!!
The Coastal Road drive back to Newcastle took us through picturesque villages and we were given plenty of photo stops.
I would thoroughly recommend this all day tour for Vera Fans and of you are not a watcher you soon will be!!
