Poor communication between tour guides regarding closures.
Scenery wise the tour was interesting, transiting through the lovely and history rich Cotswolds villages. Lunch however was a disaster. After being told, numerous times, told NOT to eat Lunch in Bourton and wait for Stow-On-The-Wold for a sumptuous lunch, we arrived in Stow to find every single pub closed, many for 3-4 days. We wound up having a lunch in a pasty shop that was, as a British Baking Show would call it “Not Worth the Calories. What I don’t understand is that the same tour came here 2 days ago so why did they not forward this information? We could of had a lovely lunch in Bourton.

A must if you are in Bath without a car and want to see Stonehenge
This tour exceeded my expectations. Richard, the tour guide, was exceptional: knowledgeable, friendly, funny, and helpful. I was on the tour to Stonehenge, Avery stone circle, and a couple of Cotswold villages. It could not have been more convenient. Why anyone would want to drive rather than sit in the modern, air conditioned mini-bus is beyond me. It's a comprehensive tour: leaves Bath at 8:30 and returns at 17:30. Plenty of time to eat breakfast at the Stonehenge Visitor Center and lunch at Lacock. A real plus is that the tour arrives just as Stonehenge opens, so you beat the massive hordes that arrive by bus . It makes a huge difference and lets you have a less crowded experience. Avery Stone Circle is just as impressive as Stonehenge and more intimate. Leave your car in the parking lot if you have one and take this tour instead. You will be so glad you did!

      Mad Max awesome Stonehenge tour
Andy was a great tour guide and driver, providing us with an excellent tour! We had a great time, making many new memories with friends and new acquaintances. Mad Max tours was very easy to work with and a great price for the full-day of touring this beautiful area.

      You Gotta' Do It
Kudos to Gerry, best driver ever! He is also a sagacious & knowledgable guide. The torrential rain, off and on all day, and chilly besides, were extremely dampening to one's spirit and body. He made the most atrocious weather day bearable with his high spirits and enthusiasm. The tour was excellent. Maddy's recordings about each area given in the van prior to each arrival were extremely informative. Gerry delivered us to Stonehenge in a most timely manor, beating the throngs we encountered when exiting.....and we mean THRONGS as in maybe waiting an hour or more to get in! Mad Max will be our number 1 recommendation to family & friends when in the Bath area. THANK YOU GERRY for getting us through the flooded roads and delivering us safely to each stop. Ex-pats and friends, Christine and Denise

Fantastic tour and a superb guide
Amazing tour with our superb guide, Andy. He really made the day special. All of the locations were great and full of history. Andy’s knowledge was brilliant and his jokes were hilarious if you like dad jokes. The coach was very comfortable and it was a well organised day. Would thoroughly recommend to anybody visiting Bath.

We started the tour at Stonehenge and the sites just became more spectacular as the day went on! Throughly enjoyed this experience. The staff were informative and very helpful. Highly recommend this tour.

      Great Day Tour
Our guide, Richard, was informative and entertaining as he took us from sight to sight. Prior to our arrival at each location, the tour included an excellent pre-recorded introduction by Maddy, the founder, which offered details and insights not necessarily covered at the stops. It was a great day tour.

      Stellar Tour!
What an amazing day! We thoroughly enjoyed touring Stonehenge, Avebury, lunching in Lacock and walking around Castle Colme. Our guide, Jerry, was an absolute delight! He provided information on the history of all these beautiful areas and was funny! The group is a good size and the bus is clean! I recommend eating at the red lion if you have the time. This is a great tour to do from Bath and is worth every penny. You will not be sorry!

After weeks of research I came across Madmax tours and I couldn't wait to join the Cotswolds experience. At the time of booking, I had issues with the website and they replied in a very professional and timely manner that made my booking possible - thank you!!

The tour was fantastic, we covered quite a good area without feeling really rushed. There were villages in which we would have spent more time, others less, but it depends on one's personal interest; we found out that our least favourite was the absolute favourite of other travel fellows.

Either way, it wouldn't have been half enjoyable if it wasn't for Jerry, our guide. He was very personable and provided good comments about the places visited without making it boring. I have been in many tours and maintaining a group engaged for a while day is hard! He engaged with everyone in the group, so we all had the chance to talk to him and ask him questions. The other travel fellows we're very good companion as well.

We had an amazing day, thank you Jerry, Maddy and everyone behind the scenes!

Our family took a Mad Max tour from Bath through the Cotswolds. The tour was lovely and our tour guide, Tim, was friendly and informative. There was a combination of recorded information given before we entered a new town and then Tim would add to it giving us an understanding of the area we were entering. Tim also joined us in some of the towns, pointing out interesting architecture along the way. We felt we had plenty of time at each stop to explore at our leisure. This tour was well worth the expense and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and engaging day trip through the Cotswolds. If I return to Bath in the future, I'll definitely be looking for another Mad Max tour!

Two girlfriends and I just had the pleasure of taking two different tours in two days with Kevin. We appreciated the small group size and being the first visitors to some key tourist spots. Kevin remembered our names, told good stories, pulled over to show us interesting things along the way, and was overall personable and professional. Absolutely well done. And after seeing these small villages/roads, I can’t express how happy I am someone else was driving ! -Kelly

Thank you Kelly. So pleased you had 2 wonderful days with Kevin. Being driven along narrow country lanes without having to negotiate obstacles or navigate is the icing on the cake. And the small minicoach has the advantage of being able to take in the views beyond hedges and walls - what a great choice you made :-) All the Best Maddy

Our driver, Tim, was a great host! He is a former policeman, so we knew we would be in good hands. We learned so much through his stories and knowledge of local history. He asked us what we enjoyed after each experience because he genuinely cares that his customers have a great experience. The day was relaxing, educational and delightful.

Our tour of the Cotswolds with Mad Max Tours was delightful! Comfortable seating, knowledgable and friendly guide, and the extra audio commentary by Maddie was excellent! The smaller bus size and driver's knowledge of the area made for a very positive experience, a great way to see the Cotswolds. Thank you to Kevin, our guide. I would recommend this to anyone staying in Bath, don't miss this!

We considered driving through the Cotswolds ourselves but are so glad we booked this tour instead. The coach was comfortable, the driver (Tim) was exceptionally knowledgeable about the area, and the stops were well planned and enjoyable. I highly recommend this tour. We took this tour on May 5. Our guide/driver was Richard, who had a great sense of humor (typical British dry humor), was very knowledgeable and gave lot of information. I really liked that he took time to get to know each of our name and address us rest of the day by our name. Overall, the trip through the villages were wonderful. During our visit, it was typical English weather (a little rainy/cloudy) and I think that gave an unique charm to the villages we visited. Each village had it uniqueness and loves the commentary by Maddie before we want to each of them. With small group, we had a feel of intimacy during the trip. I would highly recommend this day trip to anyone wanting to get a feel for a typical English village.

underwhelming. the places were nice but the trip wasn't very informative. when you're visiting new places, I'd like to learn about their history, significance for the UK, etc. however, the guide said that he is sitting in for someone and didn't offer much information about the areas we're visiting. He merely played the recording of the owner's voice!! I really feel that the trip was not worth the money. Had I known how disappointing it would be, I would have looked for some other company for this trip.

Hi there. Thanks for sending in this feedback. I am confused by this review as we don't have any stand in guides as the team has been with us for many years and sharing their knowledge and understanding of these areas is absolutely key to our tours. The audio recording that give a little extra background to the tours offer a different voice during the day and allow guests to explore independently when we get to each location if they prefer to do this. As it is over 5 months since you took this tour, I'd be really grateful if you could e mail me the particular date so I can find out more about this particular tour and guide. Your day in the Cotswolds does not reflect the high standard that we consistently provide and I offer you my sincere apologies. All Good Wishes Maddy

I have always wanted to visit the Cotswolds but being from the US I was nervous about driving. This tour eliminated that problem and made for a completely enjoyable day. Richard was knowledgeable and it was a joy to spend the day touring with him. I appreciated with each stop he would make sure that facilities were easily accessible. If you want to visit the area and don’t want to drive I highly recommend this day long tour.

Thank you for joining us for this very beautiful and historic Tour. Richard will be pleased to know you appreciated the knowledge of a local driver guide. Making the most of this lovely area independently can be daunting with the narrow winding roads and finding your way. It i lovely to hear you were really able to enjoy the area without all the stress in finding the best places to visit without negotiating the tricky roads. See you again sometime.

This tour is an awesome way to see the Cotswold's on a small modern comfortable coach, The tour Driver Kevin was great, he was knowledgeable, and very friendly. It stopped at the main tourist hot spots of Castle Combe, Bibury, Stow on the Wold, and Bourton on the Water. It would have been 5 star but the itinerary wasn't quite as good as could have been IMO. By this I mean we had limited time at the popular Cotswolds hot spots while stopping at Tetbury for half an hour, that town really was of no tourist interest and wasn't listed on the itinerary. We arrived back at Bath at 5.20pm 25mins before the 5.45pm on the schedule. I would have preferred that time to be allocated to Bourton on the Water, I felt the time there was a bit rushed in this popular and beautiful location.

Many thanks for sending in this review. During the summer months when the schools are on holiday it is quite difficult to anticipate how long the journeys between each village will be. There are often road works and hold ups and we try hard to plan accordingly. Tetbury historical market town is not on our schedule but we visit their as a comfort stop to break up the drive from the North of the Cotswolds. If the traffic has been lighter than expected then it is a picturesque place where we can allow extra time to view the independent shops and market hall. We do aim to be back between 5.30 and 5.45 and put the later time on the itinerary so that our guests don't plan their onward travel from Bath too early. We have to ensure we are not late back as we do have guests travelling from Bath after the tour. I absolutely agree that a few extra minutes sitting by the stream in Bourton would have been lovely and relaxing and please be reassured that we try hard to make the most of each day. I am sorry that we didn't get the timing quite right on this occasion. All Good Wishes Maddy
