About
Fall in love with Oxford by joining a relaxing 20 minute Thames river cruise to Iffley village. Then walk or take the cruise back again Thames path. We'll see the Norman chapel & medieval homes in Iffley village. Special focus on Alice in Wonderland heritage and the Oxford rowing tradition.
This tour includes about 1 mile walk at start of tour past famous university sights introduced briefly by the guide. After the cruise ends, we have one hour in Iffley village and then a 3 mile walk along the scenic Thames river path back to Oxford city.
For anyone who has mobility walking issues, please let us know when booking as alternatively we could just replace the walk back from Iffley with either a return trip on the river cruise or a taxi back to the city.
Notice: if the tour does not show as available on date you want to book, please ask viator to contact us. I avoid listing dates too early before the cruise boats are usually starting to run or to end. The boat cruise start date varies.

About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Voyage7270260 contributionsTake this tour if you want both Harry Potter and Oxford history! My wife and I were fortunate to have Sam as our guide. Sam was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly teaching us anything and everything about Oxford and the connections to Harry Potter.Written 18 October 2024
- CaroleP100 contributionsVery disappointed. After looking forward to this tour while on holiday from Adelaide, Australia we were very disappointed. Our guide was very vague at times, kept coughing and told us more about the history of Oxford than about Morse which is a very interesting topic of mine. He was often way ahead of us and as my husband was in a wheelchair it was difficult to keep up. Oxford was extremely busy that day but unless I specifically asked about Morse, Lewis and Endeavour he didn't really take us to enough places that I could recognise. It was after the tour ended that my niece who lives just outside Oxford took me to the pub where Morse and Lewis often had a beer and it had a photograph of them on the wall. All in all I did not think it was worth the money!Written 11 October 2024
- K6425OFcharlottet0 contributionsExcellent tour and very thoughtful tour guide. This was a private tour (4 adults) with Flora. We can't give any higher praise than to say that Flora is one of the best tour guides we have had. She was engaged with the topic and answered our questions completely. We received more from this tour than we anticipated. If she did not have an answer to our questions, she said so freely (which may have only happened once). We would highly recommend this tour and Flora.Written 2 October 2024

Not only did she give us so many Morse stories about the places we saw, but lots of extra history and features of the city. She also got us into one of the school courtyards! - Daydream6314120 contributionsGreat experience on the Chronicles of Narnia sights when C.S. Lewis taught in Oxford. We appreciated our guide Tom accommodating us with a change in a shorter time we had to do the walking Inklings tour of Oxford. Tom’s knowledge of Tolkein & Lewis was very good. He worked well in pointing out sights that inspired stories, sermons and deep friendship with the Inklings. Thank you Tom, Becky & Jim SzeyllerWritten 15 August 2024

- stevenhH3051GE0 contributionsMorse, et. al. in Oxford: Do it, you'll like it.Our guide was extremely well versed on the Morse/Lewis/Endeavour series, and the various Oxford locations where these series were shot. A most enjoyable couple of hours.Written 1 August 2024
- ewoodsrobs0 contributionsThe Man makes the TourRay was absolutely lovely, very personable. At the start of the tour, he asked us what we were wanting to focus on most and did all he could to ensure he met that goal. He also enthusiastically shared about new things he was learning about individuals related to Oxford University. Ray did a wonderful job of enthusiastically telling us about Tolkien and Lewis and their respective stories. He also pointed out sites related to Alice in Wonderland, My Fair Lady, The Wind and The Willows, TS Elliot, Wycliffe, and Tyndale. We left inspired and full of wonder.Written 19 June 2024

- 627margief0 contributionsEngaging and delightfulOur guide Harvey was warm and knowledgeable. We visited beautiful places and he noted where our favorite authors had lived or taught. We learned so much about Oxford and how the education system works, which was unfamiliar to us.Written 10 June 2024
