We are so glad we booked this tour during our London getaway. Kevin was our guide and he absolutely exceeded our expectations! My husband is a history buff who has lived in the UK before and visited London several times, yet he still learned a tremendous amount from Kevin. All the knowledge we gained about London’s amazing history added the depth and meaning to make our visit so much more memorable! Kevin led us down many winding streets, tucked away alleys, and down stairs beneath the city to reveal their past and secrets with us. The experience made us feel like explorers which was so much fun! The time seemed to fly by and we only wish we were staying in London longer so we could fit in another tour with Kevin. He was great company and an absolutely sincere and kind person to add. We highly recommend this tour!

If you love history and the City of London you'll want to do this tour. The Roman Walking Tour is one of those "off the beaten path" gems you'll enjoy if you style yourself a curious traveller. I highly recommend this tour done by Stephen Liddell. Stephen has first-rate knowledge and communicates the content of the tour in a very clear and engaging manner. Stephen is also very personalbe and humble. I enjoy asking questions and pursuing "next level" knowledge and found Stephen very gracious and accomodating in every way. One unexpected bonus of this tour was the way Stephen pieced together the geography and post-Roman history of London with the main locations of the tour. I left the tour feeling enriched and satisfied. I look forward to more tours with Stephen in the future.

Michael, it was such a blessing to meet you and spend the morning showing Roman London and more. Thank-you so so much for the effort you went to to leave a review. It was a definite highlight of 2019 to meet you. I thought you would like to know in 2021 I have all ready found more Roman wall in an underground car park and chanced my luck to see an old Roman bastion one or two levels under a skyscraper. I thought of you when I went exploring as I knew you'd appreciate it! Hope to see you again one day soon!

My wife Stephanie and I had the pleasure of meeting Stephen for a pub walking tour through Central London over the Christmas holiday. Late pub closures due to Covid, did not slow Stephen down. We not only had a few pints, including in the oldest pub in London, but saw a side of London we never expected to see. A true expert and author, Stephen tailored the tour in real time based on what we liked and wanted to see. WWII, Roman ruins, plague pits, no matter what, he had us covered. Can't recommend him enough. Good luck with new book Stephen, great idea....

Thanks so much for your lovely review Marshall. It was a great day and my birthday too. I'm so glad that you had fun and I still think of you at that spot where I took your photos near St Pauls. It was quite a unique time to do a pub tour during the recent restrictions and London being so empty but it was great to meet you both. The new book is coming on well btw :-) Thank you again!

A 28th wedding anniversary gift from my wife, we were blown away by Stephen's breadth and depth of knowledge of all things London (and Roman!)

We would highly recommend the Roman London Private Walking Tour to anyone with even a hint of interest in the subject - there is so much more than one imagines!

This was such an amazing tour, Brent and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Not only did we have Stephen's expertise but we had the added and complimenting knowledge from David (the 'trainee'). They met us at our accommodation and, after a short train trip, walked us around really 'Olde' London. We would recommend it to anyone. Thank you Stephen and David for such a memorable time (Sorry it has taken so long to get this review up)

Hello Andrea! So lovely to hear from you! We're glad that you enjoyed our tour of Roman Londinium. It's always nice to take people to some of the less visited sights in the City. Thank-you again for you kind review, I had total faith that you'd get round to it!

My husband and I spent the afternoon walking with Alex who arrived fresh from helping people explore Dickens! While we got off to a bit of a rocky start (Alex did have to ask for directions from some people on the street having gotten a bit turned around) we got righted and got to the Mithraeum at Barclay's which was astounding - a complete Roman temple underneath a corporate building. We then spend a good deal of time looking at the many examples of architecture that had strong Roman influence in London. We did not visit a good number of things mentioned on the itinerary as listed but we didn't mind - we did see the colosseum/amphitheatre ruins where the remains of gladiators were found (including women!), we did go to the Museum of London to see the Roman walls (we highly recommend that museum for its Roman exhibit - we visited that separate from the tour). We saw a lovely park that was built over a Roman bath but was built to mirror the bath in how it was designed to pay homage to it as well as Leadenhall Market which of course was overrun with Harry Potter tours but the site also has a Roman history which is why we were there! Alex was an engaging guide who is passionate about all kinds of history and we enjoyed our time with him. Be ready to walk - and walk fast and hard. If you love antiquities and would like a break from Henry VIII and Admiral Lord Nelson, this tour would be an great choice.

Hi Linda, we're so glad that you enjoyed your tour even if Alex lost his bearings for a moment. It is incredible how many people think London is all Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey or Trafalgar Square but few think of coming for Roman or Viking points of interest. One or two of the places aren't easily accessible on a Sunday afternoon if they are in church precincts but hopefully everything else made up for it. Alex is very passionate about his history and though not Roman, is originally from Athens so the next best thing! Thanks for your great review, we greatly appreciate it.

I've never had a private tour before, so I was apprehensive at first. But Kevin Pearman was amazing. He's such a wealth of information about the Romans and history in general and truly loves his job. He showed me more of London than I would have ever discovered on my own. This tour has been a highlight of my stay in London.

We're so glad that you enjoyed our Roman tour so much. People never think of London as being a Roman city and forget that it so very old but there is a surprising amount of Roman places left if you know where to look. I hope that you will take some more private tours on your future vacations... even if they aren't quite as good as ours :-) Thanks so much for your lovely review.
