    More personal experience. Better ride.
I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. It was sold out on Trip Advisor and I was disappointed so I checked the English Bus website and found availability! I am glad I did. The smaller bus was a nice ride. We were able to maneuver on roads a larger bus could not. The story telling was excellent. The secret place was nice. Plenty of time at all three stops. Highly recommend.

Best tour I've had! Book this now. Lilly was an absolutely amazing historian, comedian, and driver. If I ever return to London, I'll book another trip with them in a heartbeat.

    WONDERFUL tour!
This was the BEST tour! We loved our tour guide/drive, Nora, who had so much wonderful information to share on our journey. Would have liked a little more time in Bath as it was rushed trying to get lunch and see the town. But overall we absolutely loved this tour. Stonehenge was magical, Bath's architecture was cool, and the Secret Place was absolutely perfect for us. Exactly what we wanted! We are a family - two kids 12 and 13 loved it as did us parents and a grandmother. Well done, thank you!

Got Lucky with a Gorgeous Day
We probably had the most beautiful day anybody could have at Stonehenge. I enjoyed being on this small group tour (12 people) that started and ended at convenient times. Cara was very knowledgeable about the places that we went to and gave us great tips on where to go and what to do in the cities that we visited. I felt very safe during the entire duration of the tour. I’m looking forward to come back to London and do more trips with tours with this company.

Perfect day out with Chris' English Bus
Went to Stonehenge for the third time, joining our friends for their first visit to England. What a wonderful way to see not only Stonehenge, but also beautiful city of Bath and a secret place. Buses are very comfortable and the guides each time we went....fantastic & knowledgeable! Our guides in the past were Lilly, Jonny, and latest was Andy. My wife & I highly recommend this fantastic day out visiting the countryside. Also they drop you off at the correct tube station or wherever closest to where you are staying.....nice & thoughtful! You won’t regret it!
What a fun day! Cara met us so warmly with a smile on her face and she kept that amazing, happy attitude the whole day. She was always making sure we were comfortable and felt taken care of. She knew so much about London and the places we went to. We had an awesome day of weather. It only rained while we were driving. I loved being in a small group instead of a whole bus load. It was easy to get around and we never waited on anyone. We had plenty of time to visit both Stonehenge and Bath. The secret place was so fun and the perfect way to end the day!!!! Thanks for an experience my daughter (17 years old) and I will never forget.

A highlight of our trip to England!
Our tour guide, Lilly, was fantastic! Not only was she an excellent guide, she was a talented driver too. Lilly is witty, knowledgeable about geography and history and kept us all entertained during our full day together. We learned so much about Stonehenge, Bath and the Secret Place we visited. The English Bus itself was quite a comfortable ride with a great view. I would highly recommend taking a tour, especially with Lilly. It was the highlight of our trip!

Best Day I had in London.
The day started out a little gloomy but ended up being the best day ever. Lucy was our tour guide. She was absolutely the best !!! So knowledgeable and friendly. We lucked out that day with the weather changing to better conditions but that’s England so unpredictable. We had a small group of just 4 which made it more personal and calming. No rushing to see everything and it was quiet on the bus. Lucy answered all our questions and made the tour very personal to our personalities. The “Secret Place” was absolutely the best to end our day with. I would highly recommend this tour to all who want a more relaxed intimate experience visiting England. It’s a must do on my next trip to England.

    Awesome experience!
Just finished this tour and it was awesome. Our guide, Tony is a wealth of knowledge so learned lots and he was personable making the tour enjoyable and entertaining, also skillful driver navigating traffic in London and getting us to places in a safe and timely manner. The mini bus is brand new so fresh and clean and very comfortable. We had a good balance of guided support and free time. Highly recommend & thanks Tony for a wonderful day.

Top-Notch Experience with The English Bus Tours Company!
We took this excursion on our recent trip to London (10/18/2023). Booked on Viator, it was one of the best decisions we made for the trip. We had such a great time! The pickup locations were central and easy to get to. The pick-up and delivery back to London at the end of the day was on time. The transportation was modern, comfortable and immaculate. Pickup was at 8:30 am and return was about 8:30pm so the entire round-trip was about 12 hours. The day turned out to be a bit grey and rainy... but that absolutely did not matter one bit. We were fortunate that day to have Lucy as our guide. Personable, knowledgeable & super-funny --- Lucy was the best! She had the great talent of being able to turn what could have potentially have become a long and tedious drive through the day into one of the most entertaining and enlightening road-trips to see some of the most magnificent sites in Britain. She accomplished all of this while maneuvering our mini-bus through the narrow streets of the British countryside safely and without incident. Bravo Lucy! And Bravo to The English Bus Tours company! You guys are top notch. Great value and highly recommended. Would DEFINITELY book again.

Phenomenal Guide- Absolutely wonderful day trip!
This was hands down one of the best tours I’ve taken! The sights and timing were great and the tour guide Lilly was phenomenal- shared so much nuance about history, culture all with a side of witty humour thrown in! Thankfully, It was unlike the huge buses that just take you and plonk you at each location- Lilly had personalised recommendations and pointed out the sights along the way! What’s also great is since it’s a mini bus, we were able to take scenic routes with panoramic city views in Bath which during sunset was breathtaking! There’s no doubt in my mind that The English Bus company would be the tour I pick for my next trip to London as the journey was as good as the destinations!

    Customer satisfaction!
First class professional tour company! Due to some unexpected flight changes I really didn’t think my husband and I would make the tour of Stratford Upon Avon, Cotswold and Oxford! They did everything in their power to make it happen! Which IT DID! We found John the tour guide to be a walking encyclopedia with a wealth of information for each stop we made! It was evident he has spent a great deal of time researching the history! Quite Impressive! John knew everyones name making us all feel apart of the group! He continually checked to make sure we were okay since we had been up for 24 hrs! Next time I return to London I will definitely look up other tours with this company! Regards! Anne S.

This was my second time with The English Bus and it was awesome. We were lucky to have only 8 people on this tour, so we moved quickly and efficiently. As for the tour itself, the check in and meeting points were quick and easy to find. We didn't hit too much traffic on the way out of London. We stopped in Greenwich before the longest part of the trip and were able to grab some supplies if we needed to. We couldn't have asked for better weather when we arrived at the Cliffs and Dover castle. It wasn't so clear that we could see France, but the seaside and the cliffs were beautiful!
Canterbury was also very nice, unfortunately, they were doing some work on the outside of the cathedral so you couldn't see it, but it was still impressive.
Lastly, our guide, Johny was amazing. He was incredibly knowledgable about everywhere we went and clearly enjoyed his job. I think it made everyone's experience that much better. He was also quite funny and kept us entertained during the long drives. I hope they continue adding more trips because I would definitely keep coming back; it has always been a highlight of my trip!

I cannot recommend The English Bus company any more strongly. I would take every one of their tours if I could.

We originally booked a tour with them back for the summer of 2020. But I'm sure you can guess how our planned family vacation during the Covid time worked out. At that time, when I emailed about canceling the 2020 tour, the company asked if I would consider taking a credit for a future tour (although they were completely willing to refund me if I wanted a refund). I did take the credit and am happy to report that we were finally able to take a tour when we were able to reschedule our vacation this month.

Chris, one of the owners, was lovely about helping us to get rescheduled. This company really takes good care of their customers. On the day before our tour, we received an email with a PDF explaining (with pictures and contact numbers) who our guide would be, how to find our guide, and how to contact our guide if we had any issues. This was a great touch because being in a new to us city, in a country not our own, it was reassuring to have as much information as possible.

The day of the tour, we met our guide Johny. He was delightful. Going on a tour with Johny felt like having a friend drive you around and show you all the BEST things about a place they know well. The tour is small group and Johny made time to get to know each guest and provide commentary and tour information personalized to them. He was able to get us to just the right spot in Dover for the cliffs and was unfailing kind and helpful all day.

We really enjoyed our time and we got a lot out of our tour. Definitely take a tour with this company!

The trip to Dover Castle and Cliffs and Kent Villages was good. The unguided tour of the Castle was educational. The tour driver was informative. Unfortunately, the driver did not get us to Canterbury in time for the church tour. The tour costs about $150.00 per and missing this part was very disappointing. Even more disappointing for us is trying to get the tour operator to issue a partial refund for missing out on 1/4 of the tour experience .

Dear Mike, We are sorry to hear that you saw this tour as a missed opportunity. As a small family business, we work very hard to ensure that each and every one of our guests has the best experience possible, and so this feedback greatly saddens us. Almost a month has passed since your tour date, and until you posted this review, we had heard nothing from you and had no communication with you since the tour date, at all, so we are surprised to learn of your disappointment. We have spoken with Andy, your guide on the day, and he doesn't recall anyone telling him that they weren't able to get in to the cathedral, which was open on that date. We can see from the vehicle tracker data, that whilst the tour was running a little bit later than normal that day, you did arrive in Canterbury with time to get to the cathedral before last entry for the day. Andy always advises guests head straight to the cathedral upon arrival if they want to visit. There were 7 other guests on the tour on that date, and we have not heard from any of them that they weren't able to get into the cathedral, and so this leaves us confused. With regards to the refund, you have stated that you tried "to get the tour operator to issue a partial refund", but we have had zero direct communication with you about this. If we had made an error with our service, of course we would be willing to help, but we were never made aware of any problem either on the day, or until now - when you have posted your review on a public forum. Last week, we received a credit card chargeback request from the agent you booked with (Viator/TripAdvisor), which was the first time we were made aware of any problem you perceived. However, this was for 100% of the tour price (not 25% as your review states) and with no prior communication. As you had joined the tour, and made no complaints about the service you received, and gave no feedback, we did not think a 100% refund was appropriate. Please contact us at mail@theenglishbus.com if you would like to discuss this further. Kind regards, Chris & Jen Horsey

We had an amazing day with Johnny, a guide who was extremely knowledgeable with unlimited energy.
We stopped 4 times, 2 fairly brief stops and 2 more lengthy ones In Dover and Canterbury where we had a good chance to explore on our own.
The Mercedes bus was very comfortable and clean, and felt more like a luxury van.
Been to London over a dozen times and highly recommend a tour like this where you see quite a different side of England all in 1 day.

Tour guide, bus and amenities were top notch and organized.

We did back to back full day trips to Canterbury/Dover and Stonehenge/Bath, and were impressed with both. What's not to like? Small groups (16 or under), new, comfortable busses that made moving from place to place enjoyable, exceptional guides and wonderful commentary and information on places we were visiting. They delivered what they promised. If you're looking for a tour where the guide remains with you for the entire day and dictates your movements, this is not for you. They give you the information, turn you loose for your own exploration at each location, then wrap it up with an optional walking tour of the location with more insight. We loved that we could still spend the night in London and explore areas we haven't seen before. We'll make sure to schedule time to take their other tours when we return to London!

We had a terrific family trip for this bus tour. Andy was a wonderful, funny guide. The pace for the day tour was just right. We had such a beautiful day that we could see the coast of France from Dover. We had just enough time at each stop to do what we wanted. There was opportunities for toilets/restroom breaks. The bus was comfortable and you could eat and drink while on the ride. I agree the smaller bus allowed Andy to take us on roads that "big" buses wouldn't have been able to. We enjoyed seeing the smaller backroads.
We will definitely return again for another tour with The English Bus.

Hi mit97 Thank you so much for your kind review - we are so pleased to hear that you had a terrific day and that you found Andy to be funny and informative. We are very lucky to have him as part of our small team here at The English Bus. Great to hear that you found the bus comfortable, and you're right - as we travel as a small group, on a small bus, we can take the back roads and see some real gems that the big buses can't get to. Amazing that you had such a clear day to be able to see France too! We would love to welcome you back on another tour with us one day - please check our website for details of our other offerings. If you are up for a trip to the Kent area this is the tour for you.
English Bus is a smaller and personally owned operation and their personal care shows.

The bus is a smaller Mercedes Sprinter with comfortable seats, excellent views and free bottled water.
The tour size is smaller making it much more interactive and comfortable

Andy was our tour guide and absolutely made the trip exceptional. He is a lifelong Londoner and was a wealth of knowledge. He provided many insights into the area and its history such as the Kent hop farms, the regional architecture, stories of the London South Bank, history of England and the Kent area capped off by a fabulous and informative walking tour of Canterbury including stories of Shakespeare and Marlowe. He also had a lot of insider information on what to prioritize and how to get to places and maximize your time at each stop. Lastly he was very clear on how long the stops would be, when to be back to the bus, how to find toilets and refreshments.

There are a lot of stops so you are not in one location long but long enough to get a good taste of everything. We had several comfort stops that gave us time to use the loo and get an ale or coffee. We felt we had the time to take in and enjoy the sights at each stop. A comfort stop at Chilham was wonderful and got to stop into the White Horse pub.

Pickup is just outside the main entrance of the London Eye on Belvedere Street, easy to find. Our tour included stops in Greenwhich (you will see the Cutty Sark and Royal Observatory although not go to them), Chilham with a pub, tea room, mansion, old church and Tudor buildings, the beaches at Dover where you can look up at the white cliffs and and step into the channel if you choose, Dover Castel which also has a Roman lighthouse, Canterbury with time to see the Abbey, have an ale, and take the walking tour, ending at Waterloo station if you want the bus or tube or original pickup point of you want taxi, uber or walking.

Great small group tour. Andy was a fantastic guide! He is extremely knowledgeable about London, and all the areas we went to and through. He told interesting stories and we enjoyed his sense of humor. His friendly, kind personality made it enjoyable for our entire family including 2 teenagers to spend the day. We were fortunate to have exceptional weather and it was such a treat to get out of big crowds and see the charming villages and beautiful Dover and seaside.
We took the Cotswold tour with The English Bus pre Covid. It was memorable as well. Highly recommend The English Bus Tours!
