Beatrix's life
Aug. 2021
Super afternoon with Tim as our guide. So knowledgeable about Beatrix Potter but also lots of added extra gems along the way. He was witty and told the information in a fun way. Minibus with just 4 people, we stopped at some breath-taking sights.
Everywhere had a story and we couldn't wait for the next part. So much detail that if you had done this in your own car you would not know half as much about Beatrix's life, much more to her than just the little books!!!!!!

Excellent Tour!!
May 2021
We had a wonderful morning with Tim, our host from English Lakes Tours. He is quite knowledgeable about, well, pretty much everything in the Lake District! We did this tour and the 8 lakes tour with Tim and he provided great commentary, history and other tidbits about all of the places we visited. It was raining most of the weekend, and Tim made it pleasant and informative despite the poor weather. Tim also did an excellent job ensuring the vehicle was sanitized by adequately adhering to COVID requirements. We highly recommend this tour.

Thanks again for your kind review, we will pass on your kind comments to Tim. You chose two excellent tours to see the Lake District in small morning or afternoon chunks and I hope that we will be able to welcome you back soon.

Very Enjoyable
Aug. 2019
From Australia, I flew over to London then up to the Lakes District to do a Brontes tour. Whilst there, thought I'd do this, also, being a bit of a Potter fan. I've read some books on her life and very much enjoyed them and what she did there, for that area.
The tour was great.
I had Tim and Gillian for both this and the Brontes tour and they were funny, informative, and wonderful hosts.

Very enjoyable tour
Aug. 2019
We took the half-day Beatrix Potter tour on a drizzly August afternoon in the Lakes. Many thanks to Gillian and Sandra who were magnificent throughout. Lots of information and stories about Beatrix Potter, especially the locations where she lived and featured in the famous drawings in the books. We also visited Wordsworth's school and picked up various gems from Gillian's vast array of knowledge. Would strongly recommend this tour.

Our specialist Beatrix Potter and Wordsworth half and full day tours are very popular as we actually guide you through their lives rather than dump you out of the tour bus to basically do it yourself at each location. It makes such a lot of difference to have a trained guide with you for the whole tour.

Jul. 2019
Loved the whole experience. Gilly and Sandra were wonderful guides. Full of tons of great information about Beatrix Potter's life and work. Especially loved that they would pull out the books and show us the drawings based on the location we were viewing!

It always amazes our guests when they get to stand in the same place that Beatrix probably did to paint the backgrounds to many of the scenes in her "little books". We think it makes so much more sense to see the actual paintings as you are taken on a guided walk through places such as Near Sawrey and Hawkshead. We hate that so many other tour companies simply miss out this important part of a tour, in our opinion.

Fabulous day out. The driver and tour guide were both pleasant and knowledgeable. It took me back to my childhood reading these wonderful stories with my grandmother. I learned a lot about Beatrix Potter I didn't already know as well. I would definitely recommend this tour!

It is always good when we can enable visitors to relive old memories and hopefully add new ones. Beatrix Potter was a complex lady and as you discovered there is so much more to her than just the little books.

Excellent trip knowledgeable guide and well paced. Took all the stress out of visiting very small tourist areas and windy narrow roads.
Very enjoyable.

The very narrow roads we have to travel down to reach some of the locations often frighten some of our visitors but our fully qualified drivers are used to them! We are pleased that you enjoyed your tour.

The only way to tour Beatrix Potter sites
Apr. 2019 • Couples
If you are a serious fan of Beatrix Potter’s stories, you need to do this tour with Tim and Gillian. You will learn that there is so much more to Beatrix Potter than Peter Rabbit. A half day tour in a mini bus is the only way to tour the lakes. Gillian and Tim are very knowledgeable about the Lake District. Gillian is a former librarian and an archivist so she has researched Beatrix Potter thoroughly. I will recommend Gillian and Tim to all my friends.

An Absolutely Amazing Experience!
Apr. 2019 • Couples
We loved every minute of this personal and friendly tour. We were collected from Windermere and taken on a beautiful scenic drive, while we heard many fascinating facts about the life of Beatrix Potter. Visiting Hill Top was amazing and we were again given interesting information before we even stepped inside the house. We were then taken to multiple locations around the area that were linked to Beatrix’s life. Our tour guides Gillian and Tim were very knowledgeable in the areas of literature and history of the area. They made this a very enjoyable and informative tour. They even went to the extra effort of driving us back to Keswick where we were staying that night. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in immersing themselves in the world of Beatrix Potter.

We are so pleased that you had a great half day trip with us to see the places that were so special to Beatrix Potter. Our guides on these tours loves to show you the sights that she immortalised in her little books as we take you on fully guided walks through the villages rather than simply stopping the bus and telling you how long you have to explore the area on your own.
