Overview
See the penguins of Boulders Beach from a different vantage point—a kayak in False Bay—on this tour from Simon's Town. With a guide in the lead to provide paddling instruction and navigation, you'll enjoy the scenery on the way to the best possible views of the waddling penguins. Learn about the birds' biology and behavior, as well as the surrounding marine environment, through your guide's engaging commentary as you paddle.
What to Expect
You leave from Simon's Town Waterfront jetty on Wharf Street at 8.30am, returning 2 hours later and paddle out past the Naval Harbour where you get a view of some of the biggest vessels and out to Boulder's Beach to see the penguins - and how better to see the famous penguins than in their own element. Expect to see Cape Fur seals on the way as well. If the time and tide is right you will stop on a local beach for a swimming break or even jump off the kayaks for a dip. You then paddle back to your launch site at the jetty enjoying the magnificent views of the Table Mountain range towards the fabled Cape Point.

Disapointing

This was a disappointment. The rafts they use are blow up duckies which have a few problems: • They are very hard to maneuver if there is any wind, which there is frequently • They have a simple strap that connects the two tubes on...More

We enjoyed a lovely morning kayak trip in Simon's Town where we encountered a number of penguins on Boulder's Beach and another beach as well as in the bay swimming. To our pleasure we also saw a number of Cape Seals sunning themselves on a...More

Paddling with penguins

In the season they take parties out at least twice a day, weather permitting. I went with three of our sons in their 30s, and there must have been a dozen others. Two experienced paddlers accompanied us on the journey from the quayside, through the...More

Lovely, different way to see the penquins

We kayaked at 9am from Simon’s Town. We had a quick introduction to how the ruddered 2 man kayaks steered and then we were off. The waters were calm and we paddled easily to a big rock which had seals on, stopped in the water...More

I think it was supposed to be 2 hours, but they had a pod of humpback's at the entrance to the harbour, so took an extra 30 minutes to enjoy that as well. In that time I managed to drive to Boulders Beach, take photos of... More
