        Dolphin sightings
Trip was pretty amazing Peter and his staff were fantastic the day we did it was hot and humid, but calm seas which enabled us to be able to see lots of dolphins, Peter kept the craft in view of them as much as possible, Snacks and a cold drink were provided in the cost, the trip went for just over 4hrs definitely worth the money I would highly recommend blue dolphin tours

        Great cruise
We had a great sunset sail with crew Anika and Peter. Lots of snacks and bubbles! Small group of 9 people. Peter gave us lots of info on Frasier Island. Very relaxing. Definitely recommend if you are looking for a sunset cruise in Hervy Bay.

Spotting Dolphins in beautiful Hervey Bay.
Our 1/2 day tour ticked all of the boxes. Fortunately the weather and boating conditions were very good..... clear skies and calm water. After a brief boat-safety talk, Peter and Cassie worked hard to spot any dolphin activity and then carefully motored towards the dolphins to get a closer view. At one stage there were 9 dolphins in different spots around the boat. We were served a delicious and generous morning tea of savoury breads, cakes, muffins, biscuits and a variety of fresh fruit also tea, coffee or soft drinks. On the way back to the marina we stopped for a swim. Peter anchored near a white sandbar so we were able to swim in clear, blue water. The colour of the water is beautiful. This was our second trip with Blue Dolphin Tours and I highly recommend them for offering a range of tours and their attention to detail. Peter and crew work hard to make sure each passengers' expectations are met.

        Private Sunset for 2
What a great evening. Peter took us out for the sunset cruise and we had the yacht to ourselves as other people had cancelled or not turned up (without notifying Pete). Had the opportunity to see dolphins up close while we docked close to the harbour and the beautiful sunset. Pete & Casey provided lots of details regarding the dolphins and other things. Casey was a great host and looked after us ensuring that we had enough food & drink. Thanks for a wonderful trip.

Blue Dolphin tour with dolphins, swimming, sailing and lots of knowledge of local area provided by the crew.
Just spent a beautiful morning on the Blue Dolphin tour with dolphins, swimming, sailing and lots of knowledge of local area provided by the crew. Stopped to have a swim on a lovely remote beach on K'gari. We were provided morning tea onboard too. Well worth it if visiting Hervey Bay. Can’t wait to do it again.

        What a fabulous sunset cruise
Honestly I was so impressed with this cruise, we will definitely be doing it again. I had heard so many people recommending it but but had yet to experience it for ourselves. Well I now know why everyone raves about it, I couldn't fault anything. Even without seeing any dolphins & the weather being over cast, it couldn't ruin the night. The staff on the boat were amazing, friendly, attentive & they make you feel very welcome. The drinks were plentiful & the food was good quality. Thank you for creating a top notch business that I'm happy to refer people to knowing they will enjoy it 👏 Keep up the great work!!!

A Hervey Bay highlight - 1/2 day boat tour with dolphins, swimming, sailing and lots of knowledge of local area
Fantastic trip to K'gari. Informative commentary by host Peter. Saw two species of dolphins and swum on a lovely remote beach on K'gari. Got to have a sail on the way back. Well worth it if visiting Hervey Bay.

        Thoroughly recommended by this local
They often say to trust the locals when it comes to recommendations and in this case that advice is absolutely true. How lucky am I to live in beautiful Hervey Bay with sunset boat cruises like this on our doorstep. Pete and his team are amazing hosts, generous with food and drink, and so welcoming and accommodating. The boat is a beautiful catamaran and the sunsets are special. The smaller numbers catered for on this cruise means you have much more space to move around the boat and a more special experience.

Best sunset cruise in the Bay
Sunset cruise 3rd Feb. Once again a fantastic evening cruise aboard Blue Dolphin. Pete the Captain, and crew work tirelessly to make sure you have an enjoyable cruise. By far the best cruise in Hervey Bay.

        Awesome experience
Picked a great day to be on the water! Spotted quite a few dolphins. Kids loved the ride to the island on the net at the front of the boat. The 3 ladies doing the tour were fantastic and made the experience enjoyable. Just don't forget to reapply the sunscreen!

This was our 3rd tour with Peter and his crew.
The first 2 hours have been a bit rough but then the sea calmed down and we started looking for whales. They didn't make a big show this time, no breaching, not much tail wagging.
We finally saw a whale in the distance, Peter turned the boat motor off, and the whale, it was a young male, came closer and closer, doing rounds around the boat and after about 10 minutes was brave enough to lift his head up out of the water several times for closer inspection. For me to watch this was a wonderful experience.
We also watched several pods of 3 or 4 whales playing with each other not far away from the boat, totally ignoring the boat, they were snorting and grunting with each other - they were happy whales - so lovely to see.
Another terrific tour, thank you Peter, your experience and the care for the animals and your customers is second to none!

Thank you Lillian for your continued support of Blue Dolphin. Of course the whales are happy as they are on holiday in beautiful Hervey Bay right next to world heritage listed Fraser Island. Hope to see you again for some more whale antics. Many thanks for your kind review.

It was the first time my friend and I had gone whale watching and decided on this tour as we liked that it was a full day trip with food included. We both absolutely loved it, even if the weather wasn't perfect, we even got a few rainbows as an added bonus on top of seeing plenty of whales in between the coastal showers throughout the day. The lunch was great food and nice that it includes a complimentary alcoholic drink. Will hopefully do this same trip again next year.

This was our 3rd time out on Blue Dolphin 2017, 2018 and 2020. Each time we have had an amazing experience. We have never been disappointed with the whale activity we have been able to encounter. We have come home with great photos. We have recommended Blue Dolphin to our friends and know that one has booked and 3 more will likely be booking soon. Peter and his crews experience make all the difference. We will be back again next year.

This was the most amazing day. I bought this as a 70th birthday present for my husband and he and I absolutely had the best day. Pete was just the perfect host and Cassie the best hostess. Pete is so knowledgeable about the whales and goes to no end to find them and to give you every opportunity to see as many as possible. His enthusiasm and joy in seeing whales is contagious. We had the fortune of having whales swim under and around the vessel for many hours. With only a small number of people on board no one is competing for a spot and being a smaller vessel you are only a short distance away from the water to get a close up view of the whales. There is plenty of time given to enjoy the majesty of these unique creatures. The weather was perfect, the water blue and the whales just awesome. The food was very generous all day, and the cold meat and salads for lunch just divine. Best value for money. So glad we chose Blue Dolphin to have our first encounter with whales.

Wow that's a birthday he will not forget! Small groups work really well for viewing whales as you are not jostling for a position to see them. Both Pete and Cassie are very passionate about the whales and its lovely when guests enjoy their passion too. Happy to hear that you enjoyed the food as well as Cassie works very hard taking care of guests. Thank you for choosing Blue Dolphin and for your lovely review and we hope to see you again.

I did a great deal of research on which tour to take and I was not disappointed by my choice. Why? Smaller boat, less people, there was room for everyone to sit out on deck to enjoy the sail out to the whales or you had the option to sit in the cabin which was huge on the catamaran. Great value, full day of sighting whales, food was plentiful, delicious and of course the educational talk from Peter. It was a great day out on the water and really to see these beautiful animals out in the water, is enough, yes it would be great to see the breaching and slapping, but just seeing them will take your breath away. I am so happy I chose to be on this boat and having Peter's experience made it even more special with how much we saw. Thanks to Cassie for taking care of us too.

Thank you so much for choosing Blue Dolphin. It really does make a difference with a small number of guests for viewing, space and being able to relax. Pete is so passionate about marine mammals and truly enjoys sharing his knowledge and seeing the whales everyday. Cassie is also very passionate and enthusiastic about the whales and she also looks after guests very well. So glad that you enjoyed your day on the water with us and seeing the beautiful Humpback whales. Hope to see you again one day. Many thanks Jodie

The best part of the cruise was of course the plentiful whale watching. But also the knowledge of the Captain (Pete) in regard to whales in general. The talk out on the deck of the boat after we sailed out into the bay was excellent. The service from Cassie was absolutely fantastic. Preparing and delivering morning snacks and tea. A wonderful lunch of salads, cold cuts and roasted chicken. Beer and wine available if desired.

The day started out with early morning fog on the bay. As the sun rose into the morning sky the fog burned off and it turned into a perfect bluebird day. Warm but not hot and the seas were calm. Of course no one can guarantee the weather but our day was perfect.

Once the fog cleared we started seeing whales. Everywhere. In the morning it was just whales surfacing and moving about. Several females with calves. Later in the day the show really started with many whale breechings. We even watched a female whale hanging vertical in the water with her tail on the surface feeding her calf!

In short this was by far the best whale watching experience we have had. The Blue Dolphin Sailing cat is not a really big boat so it was a more personal experience. We loved it!

Thank you so much for choosing Blue Dolphin. Our size of vessel limited number of guests gives our tour that very personal feel. No noisy PA's or three deep at the railing trying to view whales. Our vessel design is brilliant for being able to get around and see the whales, even when inside you can see 360 degrees. For a intimate, informative and luxury day on the water to see the whales, you can not go past Blue Dolphin. Thank you again and hope to see you in the future Many thanks Jodie

What a fabulous day we had. Such a great educational program and whales in about an hour out. This is the third year running my friend and I have been on this trip and it would be hard to pass it up for any other at any time. Small vessel and limited numbers make it easier to get round...plenty of lovely food to eat and drinks. We are locals and feel we have some great choices to make but this is our choice. Blue Dolphin all the time. We love the experience with Blue Dolphin, smaller numbers, comfort, and the healthy discussions that arise re whales and fact that when the animals do approach us, they are so close you feel like you can touch them last week on the 16th and came home so relaxed and happy. Thank you to Pete and crew for yet again an amazing day.We will be back next year I am sure of that. ~Pauline

This was my 5th wonderful day with the Blue Dolphin. It was the 1st time for my friend who accompanied me and she was just as overjoyed at the majestic encounter with the whales as I was. Each trip I do I don't think the close-up encounters could get any better but our last trip was so incredible. We were lucky enough to have a female and 4 males entertain us for at least 2 hours swimming around and under the boat and were so close up you could touch them (which we didn't of course). Peter is just so professional and I learn something new each time. There would have been many incredible videos taken on the day but not by me as my new phone decided not to work. The food kept coming all day as an added bonus. I can't recommend the Blue Dolphin highly enough.

My husband and I are locals and had an awesome day on the Blue Dolphin whale watching in Hervey Bay on Sunday 22nd August 2021. There were so many playful whales early this morning; they even mugged (nudged) our boat as they swam around and under it.

There were also lots of spy hops as they appeared to be just as curious about us as we were about them.

It's still winter here but the temperature was 24c with a light breeze and brilliant sunshine.

In my opinion our skipper Peter Lynch has the best whale boat in Hervey Bay; approx 22 passengers, tasty food and drinks plus lots of lovely Humpback Whales. There's nothing quite like being on a small catamaran and being so close to the action!

We are looking forward to more Blue Dolphin cruises; maybe the Champagne Sunset one next as that is always a fantastic way to spend early evening in Hervey Bay.

Thank you so much for joining us on Blue Dolphin and for your glowing review, very much appreciated. Humpback whales are very curious and they are remarkable to watch as they are also the most acrobatic of all whales. Glad you enjoyed your day and we look forward to seeing you for a glass of bubbles and watch the glorious sunsets of the Fraser Coast. Kind Regards Jodie
