About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- stephensZ9979IU0 contributionsGreat way to understand the history of Quebec and the QuebecoisWe had a short time in Quebec City and Xavier was the perfect guide to this beautiful place. His ability to tailor the tour to our interests and past experience made for a hugely enjoyable three hours (3 hours is a minimum to see this properly). His ability to interpret Quebec for us Europeans and give that European/North American comparison was very good. Do this at the start of your stay. Highly recommended.Written 9 October 2023
- 207taral0 contributionsExcellent Guide for our family tour!We did a special 1 hour family tour with Xavier. He catered the tour to my 8 and 11 year olds and did an excellent job. I would recommend him for all groups. Very knowledgeable and very much able to accommodate different groups!Written 18 August 2020
- waybub0 contributionsAmazing custom guided tour of Quebec City with Xavier. Our company group of 6 worked with Xavier to plan our 5 day trip to Quebec City. For most of us, it was our first time visiting Quebec and Xavier helped make our trip one of the best we have ever taken. He was so helpful during the planning stages with recommendations for everything including activities, scheduling, lodging, and dining. He was always extremely friendly, helpful and responsive to all our questions and requests. He helpd put together a custom itinerary featuring some of the best activities and sights in and around Quebec City. Everything was planned and scheduled perfectly by Xavier, making the whole process and trip extremely smooth and relaxing. We were able to just focus on having fun. Xavier provided a custom walking tour of the Old City as well as guided excursions to Montmorency Falls, dog sledding, and Valcartier. He also provided a private tour of one of the highlights of our trip, the Hotel de Glace (Ice Hotel). It is a must do and having Xavier guide us through made the experience that much more memorable. Xavier was always friendly, professional, and so knowledgeable about the histroy and culture of the area. You could easily tell how much he enjoys being a guide and loves his city. I would without a doubt recommend Xavier for any group to help ensure you take advantage of all the wonderful things Quebec City has to offer.Written 9 March 2020
- BlakeC1370 contributions1st time to Quebec.Xavier was a fantastic tour guide and really knowledgeable with the history of the area and the people. Definitely a must do if you only have a few hours and don’t know a lot of Québec’s history.Written 26 January 2020
- liz_khaleafa0 contributionsVery Fun Tour!I highly enjoyed this tour! Xavier was great at explaining Quebec history and bringing it to life. He also made everyone feel included in the discussions and would ask us questions every now and then. Definitely dress properly if you're coming during winter. Xavier sends really good tips for dressing warmly a few days in advance. Highly recommend this tour!!Written 22 January 2020
- sandwich14060 contributionsCustomized to my family tree!Thank you Xavier for a wonderful tour of Levis! He researched my family tree for me and customized the tour to show me statues of ancestors and important parts of my family history. At his recommendation, we also added a tour of Old Quebec at the end because he wanted to show me our history there as well. He did a great job of tell me about my family while also incorporating it into the larger historical context of the region and cities. On top of all of that, he's a great communicator, very adaptable, super knowledgeable, and a wonderful person!Written 19 January 2020
- stuffsf0 contributionsGreat guide and experienceXavier was an excellent tour guide for this winter trip. He was warm and friendly with great recall for names. He even had foot warmers to make sure his guests were comfortable in the cold. We both enjoyed how he communicated the culture of Quebec through his stories and historical touchstones. Highly recommended.Written 3 January 2020
- JCL24010 contributionsFabulous winter tour!Fantastic tour by Xavier. He asks questions to make sure he tailors his tour to his clients interests! And do take his notes about dressing seriously! They are fun to read and more importantly, if you follow his recommendations, you will stay warm and enjoy every moment even in the coldest weather!Written 31 December 2019
- Janice Q0 contributionsWinter walking tourXavier was very knowledgeable about the early and present day history of Quebec. We were happy to learn so much. He was great at including everyone in the conversation and remembered everyone's name and what they did..remarkable. Length of tour was just right. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone with the physical ability to hoof uphill.Written 29 December 2019
- 203mls0 contributionsFantastically InterestingXavier, the guide, creates a well constructed tour which includes the social background of the places visited. This provides a depth not often experienced on a tour. All that said, Xavier is funny and light- hearted. Highly recommended. I wish I could be in Quebec in warmer weather to take other interesting tours that he offers.Written 23 December 2019
- bishikawa0 contributionsXavier is an excellent, wonderful guide!Xavier's winter walking tour of Old Quebec was excellent! Beforehand, he set a preparation email about how to dress so we would be comfortable in the December wind. Unlike the typical tour guide who bombards the listener with names and dates, Xavier told us interesting stories about the history and geography of this special place, setting the context with a few major turning point events around which everything happened. He engaged us with questions ("what do you think they were trading at that time?"), and personalized the Quebecois viewpoint with stories of his family. We really enjoyed our two hour tour and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn about this unique cultural and historical place.Written 10 December 2019
- Sandra C0 contributionsGreat Info - Great WalkXavier is an extremely well informed guide who personalizes the tour for those involved. Appreciated hearing about the missing half of Quebec's history. Great tour for men and women.Written 4 September 2019
- cantjh0 contributionsA tour that feels like a friend sharing his passionMy husband booked this tour as part of a surprise anniversary adventure. The theme provided a wonderful change of pace. It is easy to forget that most history is told of and about men and that women are relegated to heroine, victim or seductress. This tour provided a nuanced and human portrait of both the women and men who founded Quebec and by extension the rest of Canada. Xavier is clearly following his passion and that should be rewarded. Best of fortunes as you build your business. We will be sure to book another tour on a return visit.Written 28 July 2019
- carolynd2870 contributionsGreat tour!We loved our walking tour with Xavier! He is so knowledgeable about the history of Quebec. He is a charming, funny, witty guide. You will love learning about Quebec! We did 2 hrs. & Were very pleased. Will tailor the tour to meet your interests & location needs. This is worth the $.Written 8 June 2019
- Susan M0 contributionsThe unsung history of women in Quebec CityXavier is a very well informed guide, giving an intelligent and interesting history of the women who helped create this beautiful city. Many fascinating stories as we strolled through Old Quebec. I highly recommend this tour to all visitors ( women and men)Written 3 June 2019

Our guide Odette met us at our hotel and led us on a walking tour throughout old Quebec City, customizing the tour to our preferences. She started by telling us about the area’s history --including the British and French occupations. We viewed significant and historical buildings, the tourist shopping areas, the only cigar store (by request) and more. Odette is very knowledgeable and shares her insights.
For a comprehensive and meaningful tour, I highly recommend Odette.

Our group of 8 thoroughly enjoyed our private walking tour of Old Quebec. Xavier met us at our hotel and entertained us with history and cultural information. He was entertaining and considerate, asking about breaks on a cold and windy day. Highly recommend.

Incredible tour with Xavier. We did an ancestral roots tour and it was fascinating to learn the history of Quebec and to hear stories of my ancestors who were a part of it. I’ve done a lot of family research but Xavier found tons of people and stories who were new to me. It was really wonderful and I highly recommend!

We are still talking about our incredible tour of old Quebec City conducted by Xavier. He was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the history and politics of Quebec. He customized the tour for us based on our interests and activity level. It well exceeded our expectations. He made history come alive! I can’t imagine a visit to Quebec City without doing this tour.

We spent a delightful and informative 3 hours with Xavier. He was a terrific guide who not only explained the history of the city, but also what our ancestors' lives would have been like - where and how they lived (and died - one was garroted!). I highly recommend this tour for anyone with French-Canadian roots (and, actually, my husband and sister-in-law w/o any French genes enjoyed it too).

Hi! We did this tour at the very end of December. It is billed as a walking tour - so I don't know that driving is offered. I was under the impression that Xavier did walking tours. There was quite a bit of walking - although it was a lot of stop and start, and we did duck into places to warm up several times during the tour. It was a fantastic tour - Xavier knows everything about Quebec City.

We travel with 2 small dogs. Is it possible to take them with us to your walking tour?
Thank you.

How customized is this tour? I am partially disabled and can do some walking. I want to see the sights of Quebec City with a private guide in their car. I can not walk for a long time. I can get out of car and walk around for 10-15 minutes. Then go to another site and walk again. Is this tour suited for me?
