    An Informative and Enjoyable Tour
This tour comprised three distinctive pubs in downtown St. John’s. Walks between them were easy for this 80-year-old to handle. So were the varieties of ales, IPAs, lager, sour & stout we explored. Very easy. Our guide, Melissa, was well-prepared to explain the differences in their production. She also described the importance of beer in the heritage of Newfoundland, embellishing the history with fascinating and often amusing local stories. The tour was informative and thoroughly enjoyable. I highly recommend it.

    Loved it!
I would have given this 5 stars because of Tyra's (our guide) amazing job. She shared all of the information about history, culture and of course, food of St. John's in an enthusiastic and entertaining way. We really enjoyed all of the stops, especially the Rocket Bakery. The reason I only gave this 4 stars is because of the problem we had at the beginning of the tour. We showed up early at the meeting place designated in the confirmation email, but soon realized there must be a mistake. I tried calling the tour operator to no avail, but then got someone at Viator who told us that the meeting place had been changed. They stated that the new address was on our tickets which honestly I do not remember receiving. Luckily we arrived only 10 minutes late, and the group was still there. I still would recommend this tour to anyone who wants a literal taste of Duckworth and Water Streets!

    Great food and walking tour!
Our guide Melissa was a wealth of information and shared lots of stories with us. The food was great! I especially enjoyed the moose burger. A fair amount of walking to tour the downtown restaurants and pubs and learn more about the city.

    Food and fun
I highly recommend this tour. Our guide had so much knowledge of the history of not just the foods of Newfoundland, but of the area itself. He was entertaining and the food was so good! We learned a lot and became more familiar with the area so we could explore on our own later.

Amazing Food Tour - The Best!!
The St. John's food tour is one of the best I've been on. I take a food tour most places I visit early in my trip so I can then know what to look for on menus. This tour was the best - very long and detailed information about the history and culture of the food in this area. Tyra was absolutely the best tour guide. Knowledgeable, funny, friendly and very personable. Would love to hang out with her anytime! I highly recommend to everyone!!

    Great tour! DO IT!
A fantastic tour! This is a great tour if you are looking to get a bit of an orientation to the downtown area while sampling local craft brewers and the various takes on beer brewed in NL.

Great Food tour but much more too!
This tour was amazing! I am not a foodie, so I was prepared to just enjoy some company and taste some new food. This tour, however, is so much more than just about food. Yes, everything I tasted was really good but Tyra gave so much more. She told us local tales about the town and every dish we had too! I had a great time learning all about St. John's from a Newfie(?). I was a solo traveler but had a wonderful time with the group, our guide made sure we were all comfortable.. Got to know some very nice people. Would definitely do it again.

    Beer walking tour
They were very knowledgeable and informative. A great event to enjoy with some nice cold beer and interesting facts about the history of beer here in Newfoundland. Also a good way to get out and try different types of beer brewed in Newfoundland. Good for newcomers or seasoned beer drinkers!!!

    The Story of Newfoundland
Our food tour of St. John’s was fun & authentic. It was well worth the price, between the tasty food offerings (delivered promptly on our arrival) and the rich stories told with passion by our guide Pierre. It was so clear that after his travels abroad, Pierre is home and loving sharing his love of Newfoundland, and it’s culture. The walking was well paced and manageable for me at 63y. This province is steeped in history, the Arts, especially music and comedy, all wrapped up in a love of community and this tour will bring you a taste of this.

We did this tour on our first full day in St. John’s. It is a must do if you want to familiarize yourself with the architecture, culture and history of St. John’s and the role it played in the history of Canada as well as its strategic role in world history.

Dave P. Was our guide. We could not have asked for a better host for this experience. He was able to address small details as well as how the details fit into a much larger picture that had an impact on the development of the city and the province. His respect for those who came before was palpable. He had a great sense of humour and was open to sharing family history that further tied the pieces together.

The tour felt like sharing an afternoon with a friend whose easy manner, insightfulness and knowledge made you want to spend more time together. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity. We would strongly recommend signing up for this tour.

Pierre had us meet at the well known sculpture A Time. He was on time as were the eight of us, and started with some background and context about the statue and it’s sculptor. We traveled throughout the heart of downtown, then headed up for excellent views on Jellybean Row.

Pierre was a good host and provided interesting color to the location.

Pierre rocks. His educational tour of the St. John’s Downtown area including Jelly Bean Row was insightful and humorous. His historical knowledge of the area is unparalleled and really added to the understanding of how and why St.John’s grew as a city. The pace and distance covered was reasonable as you stop and go throughout the 2.5 hour tour.

Highly recommend this tour especially at the start of your trip as Pierre’s recommendations and insights will enable you to experience much more of St. John’s.

I arrived in St. John's late in the evening. After getting situated for the night, I had no solid plan for the next morning. So, I went online and looked up "things to see and do in St. John's.

In doing so, I happened upon this walking tour and decided to give it a try. In short, I was very glad I did. Not only was the tour very informative, but also provided perspective on things to otherwise see and do, while in St. John's.

For example, Pierre recommended getting screeched in @ Christian's, on George St. Later that evening, I did so, and had a blast!

Pierre is a fantastic host, very personable, knowledgeable, witty, and fun. I recommend doing this early during your visit in the city, as it will provide a great launching off point for subsequent activities/experiences to subsequently enjoy.

Keep up the great work, Pierre!

For 6 months I planned a trip to Newfoundland, and I signed up and prepaid for about nine different day tours. The first tour was to be wedged in between 2 flights, as I had only 24 hours in St. John's. Worried my flight could be delayed I also signed up for the tour the following morning before flying out. I was happy to pay for both tours, but the operator said he would only charge me for the one I actually took. He understood my situation and seemed eager to assist. We both discussed various options which included my asking if it was at all possible to delay the first tour by some minutes to allow me to arrive in time. I knew it would be a close call. He rejected that as was his right.
My plane arrived about 10 minutes after the tour started so no way could I make it. But I was relieved that I had set up a backup plan. The following morning I arrived early and waited for the tour to begin. Then 4 French speaking guests arrived and a woman who informed me that the tour was to be in French and flippantly said they would return my money. I was very shocked and disappointed. I was also angry. I had received no notification, and they knew it because I clearly did not reply and they sent the woman to intercept before the tour started. At no time was I rude or disrespectful. All that I said was that I didn't want a refund. I wanted the tour. A few minutes later a bilingual male guide arrived, and I assumed it would be a bi-lingual tour as many are. Even if it were primarily in French with a bit of English thrown in I would have been content. But after 15 minutes of solid French and zero eye contact I got the message and just walked away. I do not remember ever having been treated so shabbily. The other 8 tours were fine, as have been scores of other previous tours.
The tour owner replied that I was rude and had a sense of entitlement. He was not present, and I was never rude. But my one day in St. John's was shot.

We are sorry that your tour was cancelled, we did our best to provide you with a tour but unfortunately you were the only person booked and that does not meet our required minimum for a tour. You say you didn't receive a notification. Receiving is your responsibility, and had you monitored your correspondence you would have received the email that we sent Saturday afternoon to advise you of the cancellation. The woman that spoke to you was not sent there to intercept you. She was there to collect payment from the private tour. How could we know that you didn't check your email? You had no reason to expect the tour to be bilingual and you had absolutely no right to have any expectation that you could join that tour as it was a Private Tour and was in no way related to the tour that you originally booked.

Pierre was a treasure trove of information on the history and people of St John's. We were fortunate to book the tour on his first anniversary in the business. It was obvious how passionate he is about the subject, often bursting into snippets of songs or giving amusing little trivia facts about the characters and businesses that are a part of the area's history. I strongly recommend this tour for anyone wanting a great introduction to the city. Wear comfortable shoes, and be prepared for a treat.

Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. He really knew the history of Newfoundland and was able to convey it without partisan asides. The tour was physically challenging in that St Johns is very hilly and we had to go up several long staircases as we walked along. He kept a steady pace while unobtrusively waiting for participants who lagged behind while climbing.

I had a great time walking with Pierre and the group through St. John's! We covered a lot of ground at a nice easy space given all the hills and I never felt rushed. Pierre's love for St. John's and the province was felt through his lively and funny story telling (and jokes!), and his deep historical knowledge. We had some great laughs and learned a lot! He also gave suggestions for food and other things to do in the city as we walked so this is a great way to start your time there as an introduction. 10/10 from me for this tour!

This was an amazing tour conducted by Dave - he knows his city well and we learned so much about the history of St. John’s. Dave provided fascinating anecdotes and stories about the buildings/architecture and about St. John’s very colourful characters. He was so friendly and engaging, I would redo this tour in a second. Next time we’re in the city, we will definitely try one of the other tours as well. Would 100% recommend this tour!!

I loved this walking tour with our awesome guide, Dave. He made the city come alive as we learned about the history, the politics, the people, and the culture that make St. John’s the place that it is. The tour also helped bring to life the long ago history lessons of our country, and helping me feel that history in a way that can’t be learned through just reading about it.
