The Seaplane flight is the best way to get to Victoria from Vancouver, especially if you’re limited with time or not up for a 4+ hour (one way) ferry ride. We had a magnificent day from start to finish.
This travel option allows you enough time to have a nice walk through Victoria’s wharf area,Government St and even Chinatown. We even had high tea at the Empress Hotel (rsvp recommended ahead of time).
Then, our excursion to Butchard Gardens was wonderful. Definitely a must see if you’re in Victoria.
The tour allows for a 2 or 4 hour stay. Two hours is plenty of time to see the gardens leisurely.

Our return flight to Vancouver had us back by 7pm just in time for our 8pm dinner rsvp.

I highly recommend this as a “thing to do” while visiting Vancouver.

Seaplane ride from Vancouver to Victoria island was on my bucket list. Awesome ride and scenic views. Victoria island is quaint and picturesque. Buchart Gardens were crowded with narrow pathways. Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, Pa. is much better.

My wife and I both love flowers so seeing the Butchart Gardens was a must while visiting Vancouver, British Columbia. We contemplated the cost of the sea plane VS. the boat ride across, but you save so much time and can see things in the air, it was worth the cost. The flight was quick and our pilot was great. Take off and landing perfect, so smooth!

I asked lots of questions on TA forum to try to find out best way of getting to victoria/butchart gardens as a day trip from Vancouver. In the end we booked return seaplane trip with inclusive tickets for bus trip & entry to butchart gardens. I highly recommend this & was so glad we hadn't gone for return journey by ferry. Seaplane check-in was efficient, take offs & landings were very smooth & views were great. We took 9am flight from vancouver (which left slightly early) so we easily caught 10am bus to Butchart from front of Fairmont empress hotel. This was a great trip & we loved the seaplane. Highly recommend.

We spent three days in Vancouver post Alaskan cruise and my aunt wanted to go and see the Butchart Gardens in Victoria. After doing some research, we found that the best way to get the most out of our day in Victoria was to go by Seaplane. The seaplane flight was on time, smooth and provided for some gorgeous views of BC. After landing in Victoria we boarded a very comfortable tour bus to go out to the Butchart Gardens. The tour narrator/bus driver was fantastic! He was very knowledgeable about the history of Victoria, BC and the history of the gardens. He was well spoken, clear and funny as well! The trip to the gardens was about 35 minutes. The Butchart Gardens are absolutely beautiful. Well worth the trip. We spent about 2 hours walking thru the gardens at a leisurely pace. The bus then took us back to downtown Victoria where we explored the area on our own for a few hours before boarding the sea plane back to Vancouver. Highly recommend this trip!

Did the flight to Victoria and the tour to the Butterfly Farm and Butchart Gardens. Everything went like clockwork, check-in was easy, no hiccups, on time departures, smooth flights, very professional flight crew/s, smooth takeoff and landings, what more could you ask for. And they follow a track that ensures you have a lovely sightseeing experience. We paid the little extra ($10 pp per flight) to have a reserved window seat as opposed to the two seat configuration on the right side of the aircraft and it was worth it. First time on a seaplane and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Harbour Air Seaplane from Vancouver to Victoria was the first flight for me on board the ‘seaplane’. It was a short 35 minutes trip on a 13-seat Twin Otter; on a clear day, the flight was smooth from start to finish. The services at the terminals in both Vancouver and Victoria were good and helpful. Inside, passengers can get complimentary drinks and pastries. Time-wise, I highly recommend visitors who wish to go to The Butchart Gardens and have limited time to choose this option over a ferry.

Non S, Thank you for your five-star review! We're so pleased to hear you enjoyed the experience. It's great to hear you had a clear day while flying, it makes for great sightseeing. I've heard over and over again, when guests are visiting Vancouver, they are also looking to visit the island but it's difficult to dedicate 5 hours one way to get from Vancouver to Victoria by ferry. Myself and many of our guests have to agree, for a day trip the convenience and time savings of a seaplane just can't be beat! We really appreciate the review and welcome you back when you return. - Harbour Air TripAdvisor Team

Four of us traveled to Victoria Island from Vancouver via Harbor Seaplane, and it did not disappoint! The flights to and from Victoria were great and only took 30 minutes, as opposed to the 4 hour (one way) ferry ride. We visited Butchart Gardens while in Victoria, and they were absolutely gorgeous, even in September. We had a great time, and the traveling was easy.

I’m so glad I did my research and chose Harbour Air Group for my excursion from Vancouver Canada Palace to Butchart Gardens. The flight and then bus ride to gardens gave us a whole day to enjoy the magnificent gardens. The seaplane pilots were very professional ladies and we felt very safe. The views from the plane were spectacular and the flight was very comfortable.
Upon arrival at the airplane dock there was a 5 minute walk to the the bus stop in front of The Empress Hotel where we were informed we had to wait an hour for the next bus. So we took the opportunity to explore the beautiful The Empress Hotel and the gardens. Our bus driver/guide out to the gardens shared interesting stories of the past/current history of Victoria. The bus was very comfortable and the large windows allowed for easy viewing along the ride.
The Butchart gardens are magnificent not only in the variety of flowers but in how the Butcharts landscaped the plantings in this former quarry. We especially enjoyed the way there are themes to the different gardens. Midday we stopped and enjoyed high tea in the Butchart House. The service was outstanding and sandwiches delicious with tea so wonderful I brought home a box from the gift shop.
I hope everyone who visits Vancouver will have the opportunity to travel with Harbour Air Seaplane Group and visit Butchart Gardens. It was a fabulous day !
