Whether you’re new to the climbing world or an experienced pro, this Via Ferrata tour is a great way to get a bird’s eye view of the wonderful scenery of Banff National Park. It’s all made possible by climbing a series of iron cables and ladders, each of which provide a safe, protected, way to challenge yourself and gain a unique viewpoint above this amazing natural area.
Travel to Mount Norquay to meet your certified guide, who will teach you the ins and outs of Via Ferrata and explain how to use your equipment, ensuring a safe and fun ascent.
Then it’s time to begin your climbing challenge above the Mount Norquay ski area. As you make your way up, guided by a series of fixed cables and ladders, stop to admire views of majestic mountains and blue skies, a sight experienced by only a handful of Banff visitors. Then finish your climb. Choose from one of two routes for your Via Ferrata excursion:
The Explorer RouteThis 2.5-hour introduction to Via Ferrata is a great way to test out this adrenaline-packed alpine activity. Get an introduction to the proper equipment, then try your hand on some of the site’s lower climbing pitches, crossing the course’s picturesque suspension bridge.
The Ridgewalker RouteThis longer 4-hour Via Ferrata tour provides a more immersive climbing experience. Challenge yourself with more time to tackle the route’s vertical drops, incredible overlooks and the iconic suspension bridge.
Please note that while no prior climbing experience is necessary, guests should be fit enough to climb a ladder.
