- 457fennav0 contributionsDont book the private tour to Hierve el aguaI am extremely disappointed with the private tour to Hierve el agua we booked. We paid a hefty sum of $528, expecting a comprehensive experience. However, what we received was nothing more than a 1.5-hour taxi ride and entrance tickets worth $2.70. There was no tour guide and certainly no food included. We feel completely scammed and misled. Furthermore, we realized right after booking that this price was exorbitant for a tour to Hierve el Agua. We tried to contact the company immediately, but they were unreachable. This was a major letdown and a waste of money. I would strongly advise against booking this tour, as it was a complete rip-off.Written 29 July 2024
- hindrikm20240 contributionsThe local guide knew about mezcal inside and outThe local guide knew about mezcal inside and out, and was bilingual, which made this tour educational and fun as well. We got to see and know how mezcal is made from start to finish, spanning many generations. We enjoyed the entire tour.Written 14 June 2024
- 545cillianh0 contributionsGot to see some wonderful parts of OaxacaThe tour guide showed us some wonderful parts of Oaxaca that we would not have known to visit on our own. We saw the old aqueduct, multiple artisan studios, and drank tejate in what had been the patio of an old house. All along the tour, the tour guide recounted the history of the city and of it's traditions. It was a great afternoon.Written 21 February 2024
- Stacie C0 contributionsNice guides but overpriced tour1- website was unclear about per person prices. I bought a ticket and it was a group fee of 350. They would not help. Tasting was in a loud bar totally unpleasant.Written 4 September 2023
- divyam7350 contributionsPreservation of cultural practices, was my highlight of this tourAs I am from India, my tour of South America was something out of the world for me. In this tour, I saw how mezcal is produced and I tasted some varieties of this hand-crafted spirit. The traditional Oaxacan lunch was delicious. I feel that the Oaxacan cuisine has some aspects common with Indian cuisine. It was great to see so much of preservation of cultural practices, during this tour.Written 25 August 2023
- RKK550 contributionsGreat introduction to OaxacaThis was a wonderful introduction to the city of Oaxaca. We started with an overview of the people and cultures of the city followed by a walk to various sites. Highlights included the Church of Santo Domingo de Guzmán, the textile museum, mercados and a mezcal tasting. Our guides also wrote down tips for additional things to do in Oaxaca. We took their advice and had a walk around the neighborhood of Jalatlaco which has delightful street art. Overall, a great start to our first day in Oaxaca.Written 3 April 2023
- GreenLA10 contributionsGreat Intro to Oaxaca!Tours are only as good as the guides. Danny and Alex were very personable, informative and fun! They seemed interested in getting to know us and were willing to modify the tour to accommodate our interests. Danny has perfect English and is delightful to talk with and Alex brings a depth of knowledge as both a Zapotec and cultural anthropologist. We would definitely recommend this tour with them as your guides!Written 27 December 2022
- NancyTG0 contributionsGreat day with our private guide Gregorio —- OaxacaHope this is the right place to review our day trip ! We went with Gregorio Escamilla to beautiful Hierve de Aguas , followed by a yummy breakfast, a tour of Mitla , then to the amazing weaver Porfirio in Teotitlan and stopped to see the largest tree in the state of Oaxaca…which was more impressive than I expected. Gregorio had great advice for the timing of our tour( we beat the crowds - it was the week of Dia de Los Muertos) and he is very knowledgeable about all things Oaxacan! Book him, you’ll be glad you did. Email:pepecuaches@gmail.comWritten 5 November 2022
- cindytW5779QB0 contributionsBest tour ever! Our guide was the best! We had an incredible tour, learned a lot, and the entire trip was interesting. Even though we could not visit museums yesterday, our guide filled in with visits to artisan and craft shops, historical sites that were as important as museums, and all out doors. We learned about significant cultural history. The trip ended with a mezcal tasting, that was not only delicious but informative and then a dive into the markets with tasty tostada… all great! Food, sprits, culture, history, you cannot receive a better look at Oaxaca. Thank you, JuanWritten 15 February 2022
