About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- tinseyj0 contributionsOne of our best experiences in IcelandWe absolutely loved these pools and ended up visiting twice, on two consecutive days. The design of the baths is great and being able to cool off in the lake was really nice. Everywhere was really clean and the changing/ showering facilities were excellent. One of the best hot pools that we visited on a three week trip. The sort of place where you can easily lose a few hours.Written 31 August 2024
- tootsymoo0 contributionsA tepid bath with algaeWe had booked a lunch time slot and it was really quiet - 8 other people there. Chap on reception desk was very polite and welcoming, explained everything to us and was very helpful. Changing rooms were clean, signs indicating what you need to do before getting into bath area. No coins needed, automated wristband for lockers. Private changing rooms and showers are quite private too. The first pool you enter from changing room is very slippery under foot. The second pool was slightly better. Did not find the experience relaxing or as I had anticipated it, the water did not feel particularly warm - a tepid bath if that (all of them). The algae on the floor just made my skin crawl and gave the impression the water was overall not that clean. Says it’s clean enough to drink but I would have to reconsider that one in my opinion. I left after 50 minutes for some of the reasons above but also the snow & water was reflecting the sun so my skin started to burn without any cover. (Very fair skinned) Something to consider if you are too. I appreciate that others love it but this experience just made my skin feel a bit slimy. Not one I’d go back to. Also can imagine it would be an absolute nightmare in peak season which hadn’t previously crossed my mind on other experiences or adventures around the country.Written 19 April 2024
- EmeraldDiva0 contributionsJump in the lake! This is a lovely place on the banks of the lake. There are 3 pools, the least hot has the walk up bar. The 2 warmer pools float on the lake. The hottest pool, the furthest away is just lovely after a day of sight seeing, and in my case, horse riding. Add a glass of prosecco and it it bliss. Relax, take in the views. When it is time for a cold plunge, just jump in the lake for a swim, unique and fun. Marvellous, it doesn't get a lot better than this.Written 23 September 2023
- velaugmyrsetho0 contributionsPoor experienceThe place is beautiful, but we unfortunately had a bad experience with the personnel. There was a misunderstanding with our tickets and included drinks. The personnel was not very welcoming, and handled the situation in a poor way. The whole thing left us with a bad feeling, unfortunately, and I would not come back here.Written 14 July 2023
- Darren K0 contributionsAwesome experienceBeautiful location on and in the lake. We enjoyed it so much, we went again the next day. If your in the east, a must see!Written 8 November 2022
- 355stefang0 contributionsHot bath with great viewsNeat place with beautiful views (like everywhere in Iceland!). I thought the baths were supposed to be of different temperatures, but they all felt the same. Locker rooms clean. Drinks served at the swim-up bar were great, especially the drinks from Lemon (local drink store). The hot tea at the end for included with your ticket was a nice touch. Overall, really expensive, more so than many of the other hot baths I visited in Iceland. Recommended, but pricey!Written 18 December 2021
- a1963corvette0 contributionsReally Amazing PoolsSpent an evening just lounging and soaking in the Vok Baths. The layout of the place is just amazing, but the water really needs to be warmer. Even the warmest pool, I'd rate as cool.Written 18 October 2021
- Phil F0 contributionsA must visitGreat facility and building. Stunning setting. The hot pools are along a glacier-fed river, so you can dip in the frigid water (or just dangle your hand!!!) and get back into the hot water. Serene setting. Loved it.Written 6 October 2021
- Jasmin_Stroppel0 contributionsgreat experiencewe are fond ot he hotpots in Iceland and try as many as we can. the location of the Vök pots in the lake is really great.Written 24 August 2021
- DoneSomeTravelling110 contributionsWowThis has made the list of top 10 things I've done in my life. We were there on a stormy day and the lake was very rough. There are 2 hot pools right on the lake but you have to walk to them. Sitting at the edge, watching the fierce lake, was awesome. At some point I went into the lake, very cold but doable in September, then quickly climbed out and back into the hot tub. When we were there it wasn't too crowded and it was around dusk.Written 25 September 2020
- 440ah4400 contributionsReluctant to give 4 points should be 3.5 maxThe place is in a beautiful location, however the packages they offer were not honoured, no herbal tea due to Corona...how is that true when the restaurant is working almost as normal. Biggest issue for me was that the bathrooms were filthy. We stayed there for over 2 hours and not once anyone cleaned the change rooms or the bathrooms. Pity because it is a beautiful place on great location.Written 25 August 2020
- lisa0260 contributionsThe most amazing baths I have been to in IcelandWe were lucky and had great weather when we went. But we LOVED this place, very clean, very funky with a swim up bar. And a lovely little place to eat inside with food made from local farmers . I might move to Egilsstaðir, I love it that much.Written 18 August 2020
- 365af0 contributionsA special experienceThe pools are directly on the lake, where you can go for a cold dip in between the warm. It is beautiful. Also very popular, but definitely worth a visit. Good soup buffet. I would love to come here again someday.Written 30 July 2020
- ernirfreyrg0 contributionsVery niceA very nice environment and design. Friendly personel. Nice soup buffet at the café. We will definetly visit again. Very nice to have the warm pools in the lake.Written 27 July 2020
The changing room is better equipped than Lake Myvatn's bath, but they allow children of all ages to enter. Although users are introduced to a rule booklet, children scream, jump, swim, bothering others. If you are looking to relax, this is not the place.Written 2 January 2020

We came on a carnival cruise tour bus
The front desk was so overwhelmed when we walked in which they knew we were coming.
Very unorganized from the minute we got there. We had to wait in a long line to check in had to pay extra for a towel, we had to take off our shoes entering the shower area so now our socks are wet
Had trouble finding an empty locker, most people just left there stuff laying everywhere. Nobody to help you.
Not enough shower-mandatory to use before getting into the pools so we had a line for that. The place was dirty.
The pools were not big enough for the amount of people that were there that day it felt very crowded.
I had to get out 45 minutes before our bus left so I could shower and change knowing it was going to be a cluster again when everyone got out. Seriously it was a joke. It was NOT relaxing because of all the stress before and knowing the same after.
Long line again to get out because nobody could figure out how to pay and the credit card machine wasn’t working right and of course they had 1 person helping.
We almost left 2 people behind because everything took so long.
I would never suggest going in a group.
This place needs a lot of help and maybe new management. I definitely would not recommend or go back to this place a complete waste of money.
We went to the blue lagoon a few days prior, hmmm perhaps they should get some tips from them on how to run a well organized business.

Firstly, I can only apologise that you did not enjoy your experience at Vök Baths, we work very hard as a team to make sure our guests have a great time but obviously we fell short on this occasion.
We do charge extra for towels but this is common for thermal baths in Iceland and it is good for the environment for not everyone to rent a towel- so they use their own which they can reuse. We are a popular tourist and locals hot spot, especially in the height of summer so I am sorry that it was busy and there was not anyone on hand to help in the lockers. We try to have locker room attendants checking the lockers very frequently but in particularly busy times this is sometimes difficult to achieve.
You do have to take your shoes off as this keeps the locker room clean for everyone else to enjoy and guests are supposed to dry off in the 'dry zone' so the lockers should not be wet but some people unfortunately do not follow these rules and it is very difficult to manage this closely.
I'm sorry you felt the pools were crowded, we pride ourselves on our spacious pools but on this occasion it could have been particularly busy and felt as such. When you visited we unfortunately had showers that were 'out of order' and in the process of being fixed, this meant that there were less showers to use but we fixed these showers in a matter of days and we now again have plenty of showers available for out guests to use. Likewise with the credit machine this was a problem which did cause inconvenience while it was out of order but we swiftly had the machine fixed to avoid problems like these in the future.
Again we are sorry you were disappointed with your visit, we hope that you will visit us again sometime in the future and give us another try because we know we can provide an excellent experience for our guests.

If you're in the area, visiting Vok Baths is a must!
An amazing experience!
It was pretty cold and windy outside but you don't feel it when you're inside.
You can get a drink not getting out of the water! And then you can just sit back (or swim around) and enjoy the views. The water temperature differs in various baths so you can pick one that suits you most.
Definitely recommended!

Having only opened for a year and smartly located just off the ring road, I was expecting good things of these baths, and they didn’t disappoint.
The building itself is nestled into the side of the lake in a way that doesn’t stick out uncomfortably with the surrounding environment. Facilities were clean, the wrist band system functioned as intended. The swim up bar was neat. But mainly the floating hot pools were incredible, they use the hot water from under the lake itself. Staff were friendly and approachable.
One thing to note is that I went during the Covid situation, so there were considerably less people then there will be when tourism picks up again. I don’t know whether I’d enjoy it quite as much if it was jam packed but I imagine they have some opportunity to expand the building as well.
Either way I had a great relaxing time.

Vôk baths were beautiful , although very crowded when we went. We had to wait around 20-30 minutes (although we had a reservation) at the desk because a lot of people tried to come without reservation and they were recommended to come at 18 o clock or later because they were fully booked during the afternoon. There were a lot of children who'd constantly jump in the water, what made it a bit less relaxing , but
the water was nicely warm and the drinks were really good, you can just pay with your bracelet.

Extremely overpriced, the place is in a beautiful location but at the end of the day it is not worth to pay 5000K for a bath in a place full of teens and kids screaming and running around. 5 minutes after we around a group of 15 teens started running around and screaming , not one member of the staff said a word. If you want to charge spa prices, then provide spa environment, they should have separate pools for kids and for relaxing, or charge the price of a public pool (which are amazing, unexpensive and actually more chilled).

This brand new facility is set in a beautifully and cleverly designed building tucked into the hillside on the edge of a beautiful lake.
It has super changing rooms from which you walk directly out into a series of pools to enjoy - each a slightly different temperature. If you feel bold , and I highly recommend it , take a dip in the lake too. You come out feeling very alive !
There is a bar at one of the thermal pools to get drinks - you pay at the exit with a clever charging system onto your locker wrist band .
It’s a very sociable place and you can easily pass a few hours here. I wish I could have managed a second visit but had to move on .

On our 6-week trip through Iceland, these hot springs were probably the 20th such we have visited. Apart from Blue Lagoon, Vök Baths were the very best ones we've experienced. Extremely calm, beautiful location at the lake, extradinary service at the bar (enjoy a quick beer tasting with no additional cost if you're the only one to queue). Thank you!

We visited two other baths during our time in Egilsstadir, but we enjoyed Vok was the most. The facilities are modern, with carefully chosen materials throughout. We loved entering the baths from within the main building (sparing the initial shock of cold air) and the swim up bar was a popular feature. We ordered a few local beers and made our way to the hottest of the 3 pools, 2 of which have infinity edge designs overlooking the lake.
We didn't have the guts to take a quick dip in the 12C lake, but plenty of people enjoyed taking a polar plunge before using one of the ladders back into the hot spring. These baths are also nice if you are sensitive to the sulfurous smell of the other geothermal baths on the island.
The on-site restaurant is definitely worth the stop, we were able to order vegan (!) cauliflower wings with hot chili and garlic aioli sauces. 10/10, would recommend!

Very clean and serene setting with the hot baths floating on the lake. In the winter they are only opened from 4-10pm so go in the evening. The staff was very friendly and the fresh warm water felt so good after hiking in the snow. It was a fun activity to do for an hour or so at the end of our day/trip. It is much more private than the Blue Lagoon and is fresh water and not filled with silica.

Great outdoor pools and very friendly service. We got the premium package which includes towels, drinks and an appetizer platter at the Bistro after the soak. From the last two (hottest) pools, you can choose to take a plunge in the lake. This is super refreshing, fun but breathtakingly cold! All in all a great experience!

For a Mid July time in 2021, what is the temperature of the water? The air in the summer won't be what we expect for swimming, so wondered if this was more of a "polar plunge" experience . Thanks for advance help. This excursion is part of a day's stop we can choose while on a trip, but we do need to pay.
