About
Nationally known for its mole, tacos, sandwiches, candies, and fried masa snacks, the city of Puebla is a food lover’s paradise. On this tour, you’ll feast on tacos árabes with smoky chipotle salsa, which were invented not too far from the Zócalo. You’ll try a crunchy pelona, a sandwich of shredded beef, Mexican cream and salsa served on fried bread. You’ll try a tasting of artisan candies as well as visit the oldest market in Puebla, La Acocota, where you’ll learn about typical Mexican ingredients and taste native fruits and indulge in a taste of mole poblano, the spicy, chocolate-tinged sauce that Puebla is famous for. You’ll also try the cemita, Puebla’s most famous sandwich, filled with pounded-thin, breaded steak, stringy quesillo, sweet chipotles, and bitter pápalo herb, all on a lightly crunchy roll. And finally, we'll end with a taste of an artisan liqueur. You’ll finish the tour knowing why Puebla’s food scene is unlike any other!

Led by a born-and-raised Poblana, this tour offers an inside look at the city’s exciting food scene, which is completely distinct from Mexico City. (And it’s hard to navigate unless you know a local.) You’ll try a half-dozen popular foods, including cemitas, mole, spit-roasted tacos árabes, and Puebla’s nationally recognized candies.

Eat your way around Puebla
An excellent way to see the city of Puebla, gain an understanding of the cuisine of Mexico, and get fed as well! Maria our guide was delightful and took us to a variety of venues explaining the ingredients and traditions of food in Puebla from street food to dulces to popular restaurants. You will not need dinner after this tour! The tour is the perfect introduction to the unique food culture of Mexico.

Awesome experience!

Take their recommendation about not eating before the tour. I felt STUFFED! lol I loved that every food place we visited was full of locals. I was able to try things I've never had before even though I've lived in Mexico previously. Learned a lot about the poblano culture, history, and origins of some of its unique foods. The guide was lively, and I enjoyed that it didn't feel rushed. In fact, by the time the tour ended, I noticed it had exceeded 3 hrs. She was very patient to let me stop and take photos of interesting sights, and she offered to hold smaller foods items so I could take photos. She even had brought a knife with her so she could separate sandwich-like items to get a better view of its contents for my photos. I appreciated that extra level of thoughtfulness. I learned a lot and ate some truly fantastic food. Highly recommend this tour!

I really enjoyed this tour - Maria (my guide on the day) was excellent and patient, I learnt a lot from her about the food of Puebla and got to try some very delicious things as well as visit parts of the city I might not have discovered on my own, such as the local food market. She adapted the tour for me perfectly as we went along, and I was completely full by the end! I would very happily recommend this experience to anyone - thanks very much :)

Overpriced and in USD
Dec. 2019
I booked this tour with another Canadian visitor to Puebla because of the stellar reviews. I asked for a locals' discount which I got and I wanted to pay locally in pesos but was refused. I inexplicably had to book through the website and no one told me about a booking fee which basically cancelled out my 10% locals' discount.

Tour guide was upbeat and knowledgeable. No problems with her at all. Tipped her cash in pesos, not USD on website. I just have a problem with the high USD price especially when I found out that the owner is a fellow Canadian charging me USD. Insult to injury! She offered me a full refund which I have accepted and need to check my VISA account to see if the owner followed through.

Just an overall poor impression of this company. I certainly won't be taking another tour from this company. Not.

Dear Joanne, Thank you for your honest feedback. I’m sorry that you felt the tour was overpriced. Regarding this issue, as an established company that has been operating for over 10 years, there are several elements that we factor into each tour price, such as our guide’s time and our administrative/marketing costs (we pay both our guides and operational staff a living wage – among the highest in the industry in Mexico), as well as food and beverage expenses and any other vendors costs and gratuities for them. I apologize for the inconvenience caused in having to book your tour online, as I mentioned previously to you, our operation is managed through an electronic booking system and we don’t accept cash payments for the safety of our guides, to avoid having them carrying around large quantities of money. I can confirm that your credit card was fully refunded on the date that I emailed you. Thanks again for your feedback and wishing you all the best.

Puebla Food Tour
Jan. 2020 • Friends
This was a wonderful way to get to know Puebla which is truly one of the most stunning cities I’ve ever seen. Maria was warm, kind and smart — like walking around the city with an old friend. I highly recommend the experience and wouldn’t hesitate to do it again.
