Itinerary
- Pass byPlaya del Carmen
- 1Choose one of the fives entrances and make your way into the Tulum ruins. Here you will find a stunning field of smooth hills and stone carved figures that used to be striking buildings. Situated on the edge of a 2,500 foot wall lies the castle known locally as El Castillo this overlooks the Caribbean sea and is a great opportunity for photos here. You can also view the Temple of Frescoes, one of the most preserved buildings remaining; The Temple of the Descending God, and The House of the Columns. After your time in the Tulum Mayan Ruins, you'll hop back on your bus, return to Playa del Carmen, and enjoy a ferry ride back to Cozumel.Pass byCozumel
About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Timwear0 contributionsGreat excursionHey Ashley W- we just returned and almost missed the email with the pictures too. We booked through Royal Caribbean if that is the same tour you took. The email was titled “Wetransfer” and was from framemn55@ Gmail.com, so it was not obvious. I deleted it at first, but then went back to look when nothing else came. Doublecheck your trash or junk folders. Also, we were able to bring our phones as long as they were in a waterproof case hung around our necks so we could be hands-free to swim Anyway, the tour was great. We had a lot of fun. Also very interesting learning about the Mayan history. Highly recommendWritten 18 March 2024
- ashleywT6919GM0 contributionsScam! Do not buy photos from their "photographer"!The cave swim was amazing and very memorable but the pictures that their "photographer" took of our family were never sent to me after I paid him for them. $40 down the drain but even worse I will never have the pictures that I paid for!Written 2 March 2024
- GoPlaces628513678100 contributionsPure Scam!Terrible expirience. We haven’t been told that they will not allow us to bring our cellphones down but only their “official” photographer will take a picture which should later be payed to take with you as memory. The whole tour circles around 300m2 of cave and stopping every 2m to tell some boring story about the river and fishes and blabla… The whole tour could be done in 15 minutes instead of 2 hours. Of course after the “excursion” everyone was asking for aditional tip and whole concept of it was just to take the money out of your pocket. Avoid at all costs!Written 7 January 2024
- G8040DPyvonned0 contributionsThey canceled at the very last minute. The excursion was canceled by them the day of the event. We were so disappointed. And it was too late to book another excursion. Makes me leary about not booking through Carnival.Written 11 December 2022
- 365anastasiar0 contributionsTerrible communication that made us cancelWe were most excited about this tour on our trip to Cozumel. Unfortunately, all automated communications offered conflicting information, and most concerningly, did not offer a departure time. Neither I nor Viator could get in contact with the tour operator. To avoid losing out on $300+, we were forced to cancel the tour. Pro-tip: you can find nearly identical tours on other websites for much cheaper - save yourself the money and headache and don't book here.Written 3 June 2022
- 240oscaru0 contributionsMUST DO TOURThis tour is a MUST DO tour!!! Cost and benefit is 100%!!! The guide and all the staff are gentle and very devoted to attend the needs of everyone! Is different from the usual tours! I eill bring my daughters to do this tour in july!!!Written 12 May 2022
- spiel11210 contributionsCrystal Cave & Underground Cave AWESOMEI booked this tour through Royal Caribbean if this is the same tour. Was amazing. We walked through the first cave with hard hats, water shoes and flashlights (provided). and the second cave we had life vests (provided) and swam through with a guide the whole time. Then on the way back we got a bagged lunch (2 empanadas and juice). Some review complained about the lunch but I think it added to the experience and was great. Whole experience was amazing. Water is cold but you get used to it. There are some steep stairs in the second cave if anyone has an issue with stairs. Would recommend highly. I've done many cavern tours but nothing like this. We loved it. Neither of us are great physical shape and managed fine ( I would only discourage those that can't do stairs).Written 22 February 2020
- Deziray L0 contributionsTRY IT! Nothing like it!Wow. What a beautiful experience along the Aqua Dream 2. Big thanks to Carlos, Pictor and Giel!! They made our trip very fun and safe!! My husband and I mixed up our flippers and they were quick to the rescue during the swim when my flipper fell off. So happy with this company!!Written 14 September 2019
- claysadventures0 contributionsGreat way to experience Cozumel!!This is by far the best excursion I have done on a cruise ship. Carlos our main guide was great. He and his crew were very friendly and knowledgeable. The reefs were fantastic and snorkling was easy in the ocean current. Following snorkling, the staff provides you with free margaritas, rum punch, and beer. The food at Playa Mia was the best on the entire trip and loaded with activities for people of all ages. Definitely will return!!Written 8 August 2019
- teachersbettravelin0 contributionsPotential but noIt has everything for a great fun beach break. We went here off a cruise ship. There is not wait service you have to get your own drinks if you do a package. The packages are very limiting. (Only Dos Equis draft) and the fruity drinks are fake sugar and lots of syrup. The pool toys looked fun but were pretty far out to swim. I was concerned that jet skis were being driven by people up to beach on one whole side. Seemed very dangerous for children. The beach chairs were sub par if I am being nice. Many were broken and uncomfortable. We liked the pool especially since you could bring drinks in it. The buffet was more of random snacks... and made me nervous since they had sour cream out in the heat all day. All in all this may have gotten a 4 if the drinks were good.Written 20 July 2019
- FloridaGatortravels0 contributionsAmazing! This was one of the coolest things our family of four has done. I would highly recommend it if you’re up for a little travel from the ship and an adventure! Our tour guide, Pablo, was knowledge and clearly loved and cared for the caves. He told us about the history of the Mayan people using the caves to make religious offerings and then led us into one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. The water is pristine. While cool, it’s like spring water. I didn’t find the offered wet suit necessary. And there was a photographer with the group who documents it all and will send the pictures for a very reasonable price (esp by cruise ship standards). We also loved this tour because it was just us and 1 other family so we were able to escape the maddening crowds of the cruise ship. There are closer underground river experiences but apparently they are very crowded. Do bring your own food though. The water provided wasn’t cold (I have a thing about drinking warm water) and the snack was only a granola bar and banana, so we were glad we had our own provisions for the ride in and out of the forest.Written 13 July 2019
- Dona or Tim W0 contributionsWorth your time! Our family of four really enjoyed the experience of the underground cave. Truly a one of a kind opportunity to experience this underground cave. Pablo was really knowledgeable and attentive to our group. Wetsuits, water shoes, and a helmet (not needed) are provided. Less than half our group wore wet suits. Water refreshing in June. Our two teen boys really appreciated the amazing opportunity. Not strenuous and limited swimming. Only down side is if coming from a cruise ship it will take most of your port time. We had little over an hour. Take motion sickness pills for a bumpy ferry ride and 30 minutes of a bumpy bus ride to make trip better for those prone to motion sickness. Id also suggest to bring hearty snacks. HIGHLIGHT of our trip.Written 17 June 2019
- DeanBMcIntosh0 contributionsWOW. what a great dayWOW. This place is a amazing place to take family of any age The staff to location and all the thinks to do from cooking classes and water toys it is so amazing GREAT PLACE TO GO! Don’t miss this great fun place !!!Written 13 April 2019

The tour guide was great, the transportation worked out, but they switched drivers a few times and it was a little inconvenient, the beach part of this excursion left something to be desired, we were rushed and beach was small and crowded

Our Cruise ship arrives at noon so deboard around 1 and departs at 6 PM needing to return by 5 PM so only able to be on a 4 hour tour. Is that possible?
