      Wonderful tour - kind guides!!
We had an incredible time at the cenotes! They are incredible and such a great swim. Ari picked us up close to our AirBnB and kindly waited for us while we swam through the cenotes. On the way back there was a slight problem with the car, but they still took care of everything and had someone drive to give us a new car so we could continue back to playa del Carmen! They took us to lunch as well at a very authentic taco spot. We would have never found it on our own or been able to eat such great tacos!! It was more than a cenotes tour, it was a wonderful cultural experience and chance to get beneath the surface with the locals. Loved it!

Visiting the cenotes and eating local food
The cenotes were all beautiful! A very nice experience to be able to swim through it and the guide guided you through everything well. The transport was also very well organised. Our taxi driver Genero was on time, drove well and was a super nice guy. In addition to this tour, thanks to Genero we learned a lot about Mexico and the local residents, so we had a fun and educational taxi ride! After visiting the cenotes, we went to eat local food. This was very good, especially the taco with mole (I would definitely recommend this one)! All in all a great experience!!

      Amazing trip on magical island
Thoroughly enjoyed this trip! We were debating booking this given it is quite far from where we are staying in Tulum but I am so glad we did! The coach journey is fine and we had the chance to stop off at a garage to top up with snacks and suncream. The speedboat was super fun and they let us put our own drinks in the coolbox. We stopped at Isla passion, punta mosquito and holbox downtown which were all absolutely stunning and Jonathan was a great guide. We took him up on his recommendation to try holbox ice cream and it was great! Would 100% recommend this excursion for anyone staying in Quintana Roo!

Let me start by saying that this trip is a long drive (3.5 hours each way/ 7 hours total). I took this tour out of Playa Del Carmen. Our guide/driver, Genaro, was great. Never a dull moment throughout the whole trip. Along the way we made our first stop at cenote Hubiku, here they have bathrooms, dressing rooms, showers, tequila tasting and a buffet style restaurant which is where we had lunch during this trip (the food was really good). I would give this tour 5 stars but feel that there are some things that could be improved.

    - I don't know if it was an off day or something, but it seemed to me like for whatever reason they were running late. They picked me up on time but after my pick up we went to get a family that started complaining because they had been waiting for more than an hour. Their driver was late so we had to go pick them up which in turn made us late. We waited at a gas station for the other vans to arrive and people began to be moved around because of different tours which was fine but someone made the decision to take the cooler out of our van which delayed us even longer since we had to stop somewhere else to pick up another (keep in mind that out of the 3-4 different tours going out that day to different destinations, we were the ones traveling the farthest). This delay I believe negatively affected the rest of trip.

    - The first stop at the cenote was nice but we were there almost 2 hours when 1 hour - 1 hour 20 mins would've been enough. Keep in mind the trip is to Las Coloradas not to Hubiku. After the cenote there's still a good 2 hr drive before reaching the destination. When we arrived it was 2pm but technically it's 3pm since we're so close to the divide between EST and CST time zones. I mention this because it affects the position of the Sun (especially in January) which in turn affected how vibrant the different colors of the water looked. In short the lakes were a pale pink color and not the way they're pictured.

    - When we arrived at Las Coloradas we were met by a 'tour guide' that was going to explain to us why the water is pink. I could not understand a word, I don't know if he was speaking too low, too fast, or just not enunciating the words completely but I just gave up listening and started taking pictures. I speak English and Spanish fluently so there was no language barrier from my part. Another issue that came up that caught me by surprise was that once there we were told the admission fee into the pink lakes would be an out of pocket expense when the description on here says it's already included.

    - Lastly, I had read in other reviews that many went on a boat tour of Rio Lagartos and was somewhat disappointed to learn that we weren't doing that, I don't think it's in the description but thought it would've made the trip more worthwhile. So we headed to the 'croc farm' but we were informed on the way there that nope we weren't going there because the place had been flooded due to the recent hurricanes. But instead we met with the same people at a roadside exhibit they had set up for us.

In my opinion it was a good tour, I had fun. But, driving 7 hours total to spend 45 minutes looking at pale pink lakes + the 15 minutes we spent at the little roadside croc exhibit didn't really justify it. My advice, try arriving to the lakes when the sun is at its highest, hire a better lake guide, if the croc farm is closed or there are any changes to the advertised itinerary let the client know ahead of time in case its a big reason of why they want to go on this trip. Genaro was the best he gets 5 stars. Anyways, hope this helps.

Tour guide was terrific. So were all the stops. The long drives were interesting, too -- loved seeing the little town along the way with colorful houses and roadside restaurants. Just one issue: It was a 13-hr day. Description mentioned a box lunch and a restaurant meal. Only the restaurant lunch was included.

This was a pretty good tour but not what I expected. There was coke, beer, tequila, and water on our van. Our group had 4 English speaking guest and about 6 Spanish speaking; our guide often times forgot to translate in English for us. I was also expecting more information/history at the stops. We were given info but it was more like CliffsNotes. At the first stop, a small park and a cenote; my husband and I didn’t swim so we walked the park and took pictures. There were samples of Mayan food, which were delicious. We then did a tequila tasting (awesome) and lunch buffet (just okay food). I had bug bites from a tour earlier in the week that itched horribly so the guide stopped at a pharmacy for me. I was beyond grateful for this. 2nd stop, the Pink Lagoon for pictures only. On the 3rd stop, we went on a boat ride to look at wildlife. The captain of the small boat spoke little to no English. We were offered a cleansing salt (like mud) to cover ourselves then allowed 15-20 to rinse it off with a short swim. Last stop, we were allowed to hold and feed crocodiles which was an amazing experience. Not everyone participated in this but there was no pressure to do so. We were allowed to take pictures and the guide also took pictures. After this it was a long way back to the meeting point (more than 3 hrs). This is a long tour. Bring snacks.

I would have said 3 stars average but the driver was over an hour late and it ruined the whole morning. First the bad... driver was late so we were picked up over an hour late by someone else and taken to a gas station and made to swap busses again there to correct driver. We were NOT taken to the cenote or croc farm as promised. We were taken on a boat ride in Rio Lagartos instead. The river ride was not bad but it was not what we were promised. We should have been notified before we left that the tour changed (due to hurricane damage to the croc farm not sure why no cenote). Take snacks as the box lunch left much to be desired. On the upside our tour guide Frank was VERY personable and helped take amazing photos. He himself would get 5 stars. The food at the restaurant was outstanding as well.

Overall I have mixed feelings about this tour.
Logistics and communication was ok, the tour is longer then advertised though.
Josh, our guide did a good job in telling us about the pink lake and the Mayas on 3 languages. It would have been nice to get a bit more info on the Rio Lagartos and the crocodile farm though.
It was a nice extra that on our way to the pink lake we stopped around midway to have a dip in a cenote and taste some tequila before the buffet lunch.
The first stop the pink lake was an interesting experience and totally fulfilled my expectations. Our last stop was also nice, the crocodile breeding farm. I understand the importance of what they are doing here, trying to repopulate the area where the number of crocodiles declined rapidly in the last decades due to human presence.

For me the tour got downhill at our second stop though, when we got on the boats to visit Rio Lagartos. As we got out of the van, there were some racoons there and we were give biscuits to feed them. They were clearly expecting it and even got in a bit of fight over it. Given that racoons are known to be able to spread rabies this was not very reassuring.
Upon starting the boatride it only took us about 200 meters to spot a crocodile at the side of the river. It looked really tame and did not go underwater / try to escape when 3 boats got close to it and we stayed there for several minutes to take pictures.
After that we picked up the speed and for the remainder of the ride it was almost impossible to spot much of wildlife. There were exceptions though: not sure what type of birds they were but we stopped at a bigger group and our boat driver started to feed them with fish. They were also clearly expecting it and got into a fight over it. Later on we spotted the flamingos who at least had some sense and started fleeing from us. Alike the gulls which almost attacked us and visible preferred the nachos the boat-driver fed them.
I understand that those people want to ensure that the tourist coming on those boats have a good time but feeding the wildlife is a HUGE NO in my books. Not only is it unhealthy for them to eat processed food, but also unnatural to start relying on people to feed them. At some point I felt like in a zoo or worse yet, as if I am dealing with animals that were freed from a circus.
The real shock came when we stopped and our boat driver pulled out something from the boat. Others started to make pictures with it, for several minutes I thought that it is a shell of some dead animal but later I realized that it is a LIVE cacerola marina. When they got bored of the pictures the guy dropped it into the water and I almost got relieved that he lets it go. When the little one got to its senses though and tried to escape, he stepped on its tail, picked it up and dropped it back into the boat. Until we were there he did not let it go.
I have been previously on boat tours to spot wildlife (mostly in Borneo) and while there was never a guarantee, we spotted animals without feeding them and exploiting them for our own amusement.
I was not sure whether Holbox Magico is employing these boat drivers or is just using their services but in any case, I would seriously advise them to reconsider their practices around this part of the tour. For me it almost ruined the total experience and I think it would do so for anyone who holds any respect towards wild animals.

Super disappointed with the guide of yesterday’s tour. He seemed very disinterested, was sleeping all the way there and back, and just left us at places, to go to chat. He hardly provided any information about the places, maybe a little at the beginning. We also drove for over 3h with refusing to stop for a toilet break. Also the bus was super small, with no space for legs, I had to ask twice before I could go sit in the first row of sears where there was more space. Super disappointed over the guide.

We really enjoyed the tour a lot. Las coloradas and the rio lagarto were great! Beer, water and tequilla were included, we had a small group and the guides were really friendly. The included buffet lunch was okay.
We didn't liked the cenote too much, we already visited more impressive once. But there was a little tequilla shop which was nice. In my opinion the crocodile farm was not necessary. There are a lot of animals with only little space to live in and it is animal cruelty to touch crocodiles and hand them around for pictures.

If you're considering it, do yourself a favour and book! Amazing adventure with friendly and knowledgeable guide Guido. We started with hotel pickup off to a gorgeous freshwater cenote, boat rides, beach swims, pink lakes, crocodile farms and lovely buffet lunch before being dropped back to our door. This tour is not one to miss out on! So many things to see and experience.
