Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Tetiana L0 contributionsAmazing nature and seaGreat tour! It was a best day of our vacation and we enjoyed every moment of this journey. Amazing nature, professional guide and driver. Thank you for great time.Written 2 June 2023
- allysonorourke0 contributionsHard Pass on ContoyWhew, where do I start? I will list the worst.. -I wasn't informed snorkeling was only for 12+. My 9 year old got to sit by and watch all our other boat mates look at the cool statue garden. And of course this meant, I couldn't snorkel either. -The gentleman who was the emcee of the trip... he is the #1 reason this excursion was so bad. He screamed all instructions. He rarely repeated his instructions in English. And based on his behavior as the afternoon went on, I'm pretty sure he might have been partaking in the adult beverages. -The music on the boat. It wasn't the choice of the music so much but rather that the speakers were the absolute worse. The volume level they chose made these 1980 speakers even worse. -The shuttle home. We were packed in like sardines into an 11 seat van. The driver drove like a bat out of hell and almost crashed during an afternoon shower. All of us legit screamed out loud when this happened. I felt lucky we had made it back to our resort in one piece. Don't make my mistake.. book your Isla experience with another company! *btw, this was not the booze cruise.Written 25 June 2022
- Antony A0 contributionsGreat trip, well organised and delivered.Fantastic! Had this excursion today. Everything ran like clockwork. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, funny and charismatic. Very impressive linguistic skills coped easily with a mixed group of English, Spanish, Russian and French that I know of. The Contoy Island is a wonderful calm eco gem and well worth a visit. Complete contrast the Isla Mujeres, which was very lively and fun. I cannot recommend this company and this trip enough. Thanks guys!Written 9 December 2021
- NMannersF0 contributionsSo much fun!!!Love this tour. Used Albatros Catamaran for the tour from Cancun to Isla Mujueres, and snorkeling. The crew was so friendly, let the drinks flowing and music pumping. Lots of fun for all ages. The water was so blue and clear, really recommend thisWritten 20 August 2021
- Jodi M0 contributionsLong DayOur guides were great on this tour. We visited 4 different sites...Tulum, Coba, a cenote and Playa del Carmen. Everything was easily booked and pick up was also great. As a travel agent, I wanted to get as much in as possible so I could advise my clients from an educated perspective. My only complaint about the tour is the length, which is not the fault of the company. We left our hotel at 6:40am and returned at 9:15pm. There was a lot of walking...we measured about 25000 steps. It was advertised as 12 hours but due to some construction and traffic, it was longer. I am use to long days but this one was kind of crazy and we definitely spent more time on the bus than at attractions. Raymond and his team were great and the destinations were wonderful. I will use this company again, but probably not for this tour. You can't adequately appreciate the attractions when they are so crammed in. I also definitely recommend a smaller tour...private if you can. This allows you to have some control over the time and interact with the guides more.Written 17 April 2021
- junyoungk5200 contributionsWorth the money!Very funny and knowledgeable tourguide. He was very respectful and nice to everyone and made us feel comfortable. Beautiful sights to see on the boat rideWritten 21 March 2020
- seanfitzmed0 contributionsWorst boat trip I’ve ever been onSo disappointed with this trip. I expected something decent when booking through Viator. Was told we were taking a Catamaran day trip from Playa Del Carmen. Spent over 3 hours in a minivan, no hotel pick up instead told to make our own way downtown to a street corner. Spent just 2 hours on the overcrowded Catamaran, dumped onto a cheap beach club for 3 hours with nothing to do and the food was so bad the local dogs roaming the beach had no interest. Then we’re taken to down town Isla Mujeres for an hour and left there with no guide, Calcutta was a nicer experience. Over all this trip was horrible. The lead guide never shut up so there were no ability to enjoy being at sea. We paid $280 USD and I have already lodged a complaint and refund request. DO NOT BOOK THIS TOUR you will regret itWritten 25 December 2019
- AllieAnt0 contributionsFull day Sian Ka'an tourStayed with breakfast at a little restaurant and then a long drive out to the moored boats through the semi forest and then an amazing 3 hours on the boats looking for birds, dolphins, turtles and then snorkelling. Beers, water and Lunch was afterwards and was amazing :) Long day, be prepared to be out for around 10-12 hours. Our guide was amazing and full of info. Definitely recommend!Written 17 December 2019
- Mel S0 contributionsDolphins MatingGreat day trip !! Reliable, safe and friendly transportation from your hotel and back with Cancun Bay Service Tours, two brothers took care of us, I think their names were Hernan and Herlan. Your day trip starts by being picked up at your hotel. Somewhere before Tulum you stop and purchase your tickets to enter Sian Ka'an Biosphere $6 usd or 120 pesos (for two), then you have a breakfast. This breakfast is not listed in the description of the tour so was a surprise but one that I enjoyed. From here you make your way to Tulum and drive through the "resort strip", at the end of this you stop for a moment where someone checks to make sure everyone paid for their entrance. From here you travel down a dirt road that is somewhat comparable to a Canadian logging road, you cross over a bridge where locals fish and tourists look for crocodiles, we didn't stop here. At the end of the road is a small quaint community of Punta Allen where you will find the 'BeFu**ingNice' cafe/coffee shop (trip advisor doesn't allow profanity **= ck). You are directed while on route to put on any sunscreen because once you are on the boat you can not reapply, for the sake of our environment. The tour write up tells you to bring bug repellent, this is not needed.Once you arrive in Punta Allen you can have a quick washroom break then a short walk with one of the the tour guides to the boat where we all board and meet the boat driver. You make your way out to the ocean looking for wildlife. We saw a few birds and then spent time in a more shallow area looking for turtles, bring your polarized sun glasses. Not many turtles around and no one can control that. Then we went snorkeling for about 20 minuets or so. I highly recommended you try out snorkeling somewhere, even your tub or local pool before you try in the ocean. It was my first time and I had some difficulty but eventually became comfortable with the gear. My partner also had difficulties and actually lost here eye glasses, luckily our main tour guide from Cancun Bay Service Tours, was highly experienced and was able to swim down and grab them before the ocean swallowed them up. Very grateful to him, the entire trip would have been a disaster without these glasses. There are also several other boats out at the same time and they all work together to ensure a great time is had and that everyone is safe, we did grab on to one of these other boats in our moments of claustrophobia panic, ha ha. After snorkeling we saw dolphins, many of them, saw them playing and mating, super cool, they swam right in front of us. You then start making your way back travelling through shallow waters of channels and mangroves, seen many birds and could have touched a Pelican, don't worry we didn't, it was just that close. The boat ride can be a soaker though so leave the professional camera behind and take something in a water proof case or just enjoy. Once your back to Punta Allen you walk back a different way and get to see some of the community you then get a lovely lunch, there is only a few dishes but plenty of food and well cooked, best fish of my life, and leftovers are given to the community. Fresh coconut for 40 peso, you can even order a lobster. Time for a quick swim and the you head home. Remember folks there is no guarantee of seeing wildlife your not going to the zoo. Great day trip and price is the same as a whale watching tour in Canada but also comes with a breakfast and a lunch. I would do it again.Written 29 October 2019
- Federico M0 contributionsPoor safari for an outrageous priceBeen in August wirh friends. We were staying in Tulum and had a car of our own, but had to wake up at 7:30 am to be at a supermarket (15min distance) to meet up with the group and then go all together at the registration hub and have a breakfast (I’d rather have breakfast on my own and pay less for the tour). We were not allowed to meet with the group directly at Sian Ka’an so, after the registration, we left at 10:30 (wasting so much time) and arrived there around 12:00 (woke up at 7:30 am and did literally nothing for 4hrs). The road to Sian Ka’an is extremely bumpy. Halfway through we stopped at a bridge to try and see crocs (we only saw one on the way back). Nothing special with the view from the bridge. Once arrived, we hopped on a small boat and had to navigate through the lagoon to spot dolphins and turtles. We only saw dolphins’ backs for 5-10mins and two turtles. Most of the time was spent navigating and hitting hardly waves on the boat. We then stopped at a small island to watch some birds. Useless stop. After that, we “snorkelled”. Their concept of snorkelling is unbelievably poor. We were given a mask and fins and, with the lifejacket vest on (!!!), were allowed to swim back and forth for 10mins (!!!). The only thing we saw were two very small corals (!!!). Felt more like they thought we were stupid or something to enjoy this. Such a waste of time. The safari was over just after a quick lunch (average quality). Total cost: €105 ($115 or something). Considering that swimming with whale sharks in Isla Mujeres has the same price, not even a mad person would go for Sian Ka’an. If only we had known... Don’t waste your money on this useless tour, rather go to Bacalar.Written 28 August 2019

Did the trip through our hotel and had one of the best days of my life. Shame we couldn't give this company the credit for it.Written 31 July 2019

- asolare20000 contributionsOur Guide Saved The DayOur pick up location for this tour was in Cancun as that was where we were staying. The 6:45am pickup was prompt and from there we rode an hour to our hub in Playa Del Carmen. After an hour of waiting and wondering what was next, we were told to get out of our van and then got back into our van a few minutes later whereupon we embarked on another 1.5 hour drive to the ferry terminal. Along the way, our guide ("Werlan") provided us with information on what our tour would encompass. This was the only insight provided up to this point and this point (the ferry dock) was 3.5 hours into the tour.... Werland also provided a multi-media presentation about the region and the wildlife in the area. This was interesting; and, I suspect hard for him to do in two languages while in a moving vehicle. The cenote we visited on the tour was "so-so" and more like a watering hole. I was not intrigued by either Bird or Passion Islands. Holbox was what I expected but I do wish I had more than 60 minutes to explore it and would have sacrificed Bird and Passion Island to do so. Lunch was only okay and seemed to be a check-box activity for both the tour company and restaurant. I don't think our driver (who picked us up at 6:45) was expecting to drive the entireity of this tour. As such, his driving (weaving) from the ferry dock back to Playa Del Carmen seemed to indicate he was tired. This, of course, had me concerned; however, we made it back to Playa safely for a change of drivers for the drive back to Cancun. An opportunity for improvement would be better communication and coordination in regards to the logistics. On a map, the ferry dock to Holbox (which is located in Chiquila) seems closer to Cancun but the only road is through Playa. So, in effect, you are driving an hour south and then 1.5 hours north-east to get to Chiquila. My wife and I were the only two passengers for the ride to Playa and I was never certain as to where we were going and what the next steps were in this journey. The driver never exhibited a sense of what was supposed to happen next. Throughout it all, Werlan proved to be a stellar guide exhibiting patience, courtesy and a constant regard for the participants. Were it not for him, this tour would have been rated lower. Werlan was also skillful in managing the shuttle driver, the boat operators, and the restaurant as my impression was that these services were outsourced. The van was in need of repair as it made a loud whirring sound as we cruised down the highway. Thankfully, though, the A/C was working just fine!Written 13 May 2019
