Overview
Tulum is perhaps best-known for its Maya ruins and cenotes, crystal-clear swimming holes fed by a network of underground rivers. Visit the seaside Tulum ruins, saving time by arriving just before most of the crowds, and opt for a swim in an underground river nearby. The upgraded tour also includes lunch at a beachside restaurant.
What to Expect
Begin with an early morning pickup at your Cancun hotel, and hit the road for the roughly 2-hour journey to Tulum. Meet your small group of travelers and listen to your guide tell stories about the wildlife and history of the Yucatan Peninsula.

Arrive at Tulum and explore the ancient ruins, which lie on a seaside bluff. Spend an hour with your guide, learning about the Maya Empire and the specific sites scattered about the archeological park. Afterward, spend about 30 minutes to explore the Tulum ruins and a nearby beach on your own.

If you upgrade to include lunch and an underground river excursion, board a minibus for a short trip to the nearby jungle. Travel to an underground cave and river network and get in the water. Swim through the caves and tunnels for roughly 1.5 hours.

Then, travel to a beachside restaurant nearby to enjoy a traditional Mexican lunch. Relax on the beach before the return journey to your Cancun hotel.

Long walk but interesting views

If you don't mind walking and you want to see cool new stuff...this is it! The beach access is beautiful. Also, be sure to stop for lunch or dinner at one of the local food stands on the way out. Very good food!
