Itinerary
- 1Querétaro is one of Mexico's most prominent wine-producing areas and is known for its output of sparkling wines. Most vineyards in the region are found at an altitude of 6,500 feet (2,000 meters), and the most well-known winery in the region is Freixenet, which you’ll visit on this wine tour from Mexico City. When you arrive, watch a video on the history of Cavas Freixenet before beginning a tour of the winery facilities. You'll have the chance to see and learn about the entire wine-making process, from harvesting to bottling to labeling. The tour includes a trip down to the wine cellars, 82 feet (25 meters) below ground, a few wine tastings and a visit to the Freixenet Wine Boutique. You’ll then head to the colonial-style town of Tepozotlán. Here you'll visit the San Francisco Javier Temple, which is part of a Jesuit monastery. Your guide will teach you about the history of the monastery while you view the archaeological artwork and objects and admire the Baroque architecture.
About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- L115XImarkl0 contributionsDon’t miss this tour! This was a wonderful experience! Comfortable transportation, a charming bilingual tour guide who shared stories about the areas we visited, and a driver with parking superpowers. All of that before we even arrived! Chapala and Ajijic are not to be missed.Written 28 January 2025
- LivingMyLife20 contributionsWay Too RushedThis was just a so-so tour and quite disappointing on several levels. Susanna was very entertaining, friendly and knowledgeable (she reminded you of that when asking for individual tips for her and the driver because they worked for separate companies, she said). The tour was overbooked, and two guests had to get on another van because there were no seats for them. Our tour was rushed and more emphasis was placed on specific shopping stops at the market and jewelry store. (They may get some kind of kickback as to why certain vendors are targeted and you can't venture to other ones.) We spent more time in the overpriced jewelry store than we did in the cathedral. We didn't get to take pictures by the Beetles statutes, which were a stone's throw from the overpriced jewelry store nor by the Mazatlan sign. I wouldn't book with this tour company again but maybe try another one. I just felt way too rushed.Written 29 December 2024
- delphinedeliav0 contributionsSuper fun!Super fun expérience! The kids absolutely loved it. We were picked up on time with a very big clean car and really nice driver. Highly recommend!Written 2 December 2024
- mwitkop0 contributionsGood EnoughDisjointed, unorganized mess of a trip with a tour guide that just never stopped talking about any and everything. The included lunch will certainly not appeal to everyone because of the limited selections. Nice van and safe driver, but all in all it was worth it once we finally got underway.Written 17 November 2024

- Venture705420 contributionsBe careful carry your passport and any stops by the national guard. We were stopped by the national Guard on our way from Cuernavaca to Taxco and were surrounded by guns for an hour with no knowledge of what’s was going on.Written 15 November 2024
- Leta A0 contributionsPleasant tour with limited amount of walking. Our tour guide Susanna was a delight and our driver Luis was excellent. This is probably more a me problem in that I thought there would be more walking time in the market and at the Mazatlan sign. It felt rushed at the market. I feel there should be 30 or 45 minutes for a person to walk around at their leisure. Also, it was disappointing not to be able to stop and take photos at the Mazatlan sign. However, Susanna was entertaining and shared some great facts with us.Written 12 November 2024

- nicholas v0 contributionsMex pyramidsI was not expecting this and I loved it. I felt like i was an archeologist investigating an unknown find. I have been to many pyramids, but what makes this one special is that you're usually the only one there. No crowds. But bring comfortable shoes because the hike to the pyramids is a long one.Written 10 October 2024
- nicholas v0 contributionsGuanajuatoWhat can I say but just beautiful Definitely a must see and experience. Make sure you have a guide that knows the area because you might miss sites that need to be seen like the tunnelsWritten 10 October 2024
- 557davei0 contributionsLucha Libre is amazing!Absolutely a must if you are in Mexico City! We loved this. Go to the area across the road from the arena for some food and drinks beforehand, it’s huge with lots of vendors and a real buzz before you go across for the main event. Door to door transport with a guide that spoke English made everything so easy for us. Not to mention we chose when we wanted to leave and just sent a WhatsApp and the driver was ready for us. Could not recommend this more!!Written 7 October 2024
- sfcelb0 contributionsGreat tour by excellent guide of pretty Puebla and interesting CholulaOur guide Rogelio was an outstanding, friendly and informative guide to Puebla and Cholula, The adventure is a little long and I would probably recommend leaving out Cholula which was okay but the high point of the excursion is beautiful and charming Puebla with it's churches, central square, charming streets and peopleWritten 28 September 2024
- 932lyndad0 contributionsEntertainment for the whole family!Wow. So much fun. We went on a Sunday which is Family night. Had our adult children and grandchild with us. Every one had a blast. Lots of kids shouting at the wrestlers. Great seats. Order a beer and they pour 2 bottles of beer into one plastic cup. Lots of snacks being hawked in the seats. I actually had Mr. Noodles soup but with lime and salsa. Took uber there and back.Written 23 September 2024
- patriciasA7958BU0 contributionsGreat experience in Mexico CityThe tour guides were amazing! Aaron and Gabriela were outstanding, professional and very friendly, funny and super knowledgeable. The transportation was super comfortable, the buses were pretty new. Mexico is a wonderful place to visit! We did the pyramids, the Guadalupe Shrine and Garibaldi at Night plus Puebla and Cholula. Highly recommended!!!Written 27 July 2024

We were treated to a personal tasting with Jesus, the Head Sommelier. Ask about the story of the Japanese wine tasting! This region is almost three hours North of Mexico City. Plan on visiting three or four wineries in the region. Spend most of your time here tasting, listening to music, and enjoying the wine (red and bubbly). Don't miss the impressive tour of the cellar!

We took the tour and it was very well explained about the process and production of the different types of wine produced there, at the end we received a glass to keep with White Sparkling Wine.
