About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:

- CNCAdventures0 contributions1 night, 2 day cruise of Bai Tu Long Bay - beautiful scenery and a fantastic guideWe went on the 1 night cruise of Bai Tu Long Bay. The van ride to and from Hà Nội was comfortable, with an interesting stop at a pearl factory enabling us to grab a coffee and use the restroom. We were on a classic looking older ship. We had conveniently connected rooms, which were spacious and comfortable with nice bathrooms. While some parts of the ship were in need of updates, it was overall clean and well maintained. The staff onboard were attentive and courteous, and the food service was really amazing. We took part in most of the activities on and off the ship, all of which were lead and directed by our fantastic guide, Mr. Sunday, who was professional, kind, and very knowledgeable. Some of the highlights for us were kayaking, swimming in the bay, making spring rolls, learning about the monochord instrument, and the early morning Tai Chi on the upper deck. The bay is breathtakingly beautiful and well worth the trip, though sadly quite filled with trash and debris. The boat terminal and some of the activities on the bay were at times uncomfortably packed full of people, but in spite of this we greatly enjoyed ourselves thanks to the humor and talents of our tour guideWritten 5 August 2024

- 674ellenm0 contributionsIt was fineWe were picked up by our Swan Cruise guide and driver from our Hanoi hotel and then spent another hour in the bus picking up other travelers before starting the 2-3 hour drive to Ha Long Bay. It would be ideal to perhaps all meet in one place to avoid adding so much time to the drive. Our guide was Sunday, who was very pleasant and obviously loves his job. He was personally very invested in everyone's enjoyment of the entire trip. He spoke superior English. On the long drive, we stopped at a very cheesy tourist trap where you are sold pearls and various other souvenirs. Then arriving at the cruise terminal, Sunday found everyone seats amid the masses and masses of crowds. It was hot and crowded and a long wait. Not Swan Cruise's fault--everyone was experiencing the same thing. The Swan Cruise boat was very clean and comfortable. I was shocked at how large our Deluxe King cabin was. We had a huge bed and very large bathroom, plus a huge window. All the crew was very welcoming and professional. The food was good, but there was way too much and we felt awful wasting so much. It would be ideal to have the choice to be served less. I also found it odd that no one was allowed to bring water bottles on board any cruise ship in the bay due to "litter" reasons, but our boat sold us water in plastic bottles at a much higher rate than ones bought on land. Plus, jams and jellies were served in disposable, single-use plastic containers, we cooked spring rolls wearing disposable, single-use plastic gloves--so the whole "not allowed to bring bottles on board" felt pretty lame to me. As I said, this applied to ALL cruises, not just ours. We found Ha Long Bay to be disappointing. It is filled with ships and all you see everywhere is litter. It's sad and a huge pity that the World Heritage Site is treated as a dump. Our kayak to a local beach was marred by plastic trash everywhere and the beach was filled with it as well. We certainly didn't want to swim in the filthy water, which was also disappointing. We also visited a cave, which was interesting. My favorite part of the 2-day trip was Sunday feeding the dog that lives on the cave island. The dog went nuts when he saw Sunday. It was so cute. Sunday offered multiple activities to do on board, including karaoke, cooking spring rolls, and tai chi. Not many people participated. So while the cruise itself was nice and Sunday was very good, we didn't love the tour. You are definitely expected/encouraged to tip everyone, from the driver to the guide, to the ship staff.Written 16 April 2024
- stustu4890 contributionsSwan Cruise.. Beautiful boat great food.Boat was loveley. I not too big not too small. Food was outstanding.. Too much really. Cabin was gorgeous(most expensive option) tho in hindsight wouldnt book it again as spent very little time with all the activities on offer. Staff were super.. Guide michael was funny and informative. Karaoke was good fun.Written 7 April 2024
- 001smith0 contributionsIt is what it is - the scenery is lovely - cruise is averageI’d rate this average to good. We may have been spoilt by the trip before we went on (Ha Giang). We generally prefer off the beaten track tours and this was the opposite. The pickup was very good and the journey pleasant . The tour guide , Man was enthusiastic but sometimes difficult to understand. The quay was crazy with hundreds of tour buses and crowds. I booked a balcony room , which was a godsend as we could actually skip some of the activities and spend time there . The kayaking was fun but she beach is full of plastic and I didn’t want to swim . I thought Bai Tu Long would be better for this but it’s all the same water. The cave trip was not really worth goin him - seen far better caves in other areas . The scenery is great but all the activities are rushed and we had to be checked out of the room by 9.30 on the second day . The crew were all great and friendly . Food was average but they were excellent at providing preferred food for people with allergies / diets . We met some lovely people and really enjoyed Happy Hour. We had limited time in the area but maybe if we had more time - a stay on Cat Ba and booking a more personal trip would be better .Written 3 April 2024

- Giovanni_Carlotti1230 contributionsAmazing place and perfect tour guide called Sunday! We spent 2 days to Ha long bay with them, and it was really enjoyable cruise. The crew was really kind and prepare to solve any problem and question we needed, but the best of all the cruise was our tour guide called Sunday, he was perfect, he gave to us all the informations we asked, he brought to a kayak tour and he shows to us an amazing landscape, he took care of us in any moment and he helped us to find our driver once we come back to the ferry. Thanks again and good job, I suggest to everybody to make it and calle the tour guide Sunday. Vittorio and Federica from Italy.Written 24 January 2024
- kerrysjohnstone0 contributionsAmazing experience!Wow… what a trip around Bai Tu Long! Only 13 boats allowed in this area as opposed to 300 in Ha Long Bay. Views and activities were fabulous. The crew looked after our every need and the food was outstanding. Many things on the menu that we would never have tried if in a restaurant so a great foody experience too! The best bit about our trip was our guide, Tommy. He was outstanding in every possible way. Cam on! Tommy, for helping us make some very special memories.Written 6 January 2024
- Sam H0 contributionsBreathtaking Ha long bay tourFrom the very beginning when we got picked up from the hotel in Hanoi, the whole trip was amazing. Our guide Sunday was funny and informative; we couldn't have asked for a better guide. The personal touches he added really elevated the experience. The location is beautiful, and the food was great, it was very lovely of the crew to prepare a separate vegan menu for us.Written 28 December 2023

Friendly staff and the tour guide Mike was just the best and magic hihi ;) on first day the food was amazing, a bit less on second day but overall amazing hospitality. Maybe food service shall be less fastWritten 27 December 2023
- Johan H0 contributionsGreat time touring around Bai Tu Long bay with Swan CruiseWe spent one night cruising around Bai Tu Long bay with Swan Cruise and had a really good time. Our guide Kent was really attentive and helpful throughout our whole stay. We were picked up from our hotel and on the drive to the bay we stopped by a Pearl store, which was interesting but not really our thing. The port was pretty hectic so be prepared but Kent was really great and made sure we were all ok. We caught a small boat and finally made it to our cruise boat. The cruise boat itself is perfectly fine as I think this is more mid range. Bai Tu Long bay itself was amazing, we’d highly recommend this over Ha Long or Lan Ha bays. We shared the bay with only 10 other boats (according to Kent, in Ha Long there are normally 200 boats and on Lan Ha about 30 boats) The food throughout the trip was really good and we had decent wine we could buy by the bottle. In terms of activities, we thoroughly enjoyed the kayaking and swimming on the first day. We were super lucky and got to enjoy an amazing sunset on the boat rooftop along with a spring roll cooking class. After dinner at night we had karaoke followed by squid fishing. The following morning we had tai chi then breakfast followed by a tour of a cave before an early lunch and then back to the port. We then drove back to Hanoi and were dropped off at our hotel. All in all we had a great time. We’d highly recommend Bai Tu Long bay and Swan Cruise.Written 18 December 2023

We were a bit unlucky to have so little sun. The brochure photos look amazing but it's often cloudy in the wet and cold/not much better in the dry. However, we had a pretty good time on this tour. On the plus side the kayak paddling was fun, the caves were interesting, thai chi was nice, the pearl farm/floating village was cool and the boat cabin was excellent. On the minus side, despite being the less crowded part of Ha Long, at one stage we couldn't park our kayak on the beach because it was so busy, we were rarely not with four to five other boats, the tour was set up for two day/one night cruises so they do much the same exercises each day (so 3/2 = 2 x the same exercise), there is polystyrene foam rubbish EVERYWHERE, and for some reason, despite the food being pretty good it seemed very repetitive. And I'll be honest, the less said about the harbour building the better - it's the low season for tourists but the high season for locals and it was bedlam.
Having said all this it is definitely worth a look. If you get lucky and get some sun it would be truly spectacular.

Dear Valued Guest,
Thank you for sharing your feedback about your experience with us. We appreciate your honest review and are pleased to hear that despite the weather challenges, you had a pretty good time on the tour. It's great to know that you enjoyed the kayak paddling, explored interesting caves, and found the Tai Chi session and the visit to the pearl farm/floating village enjoyable.
We understand your observations about the challenges of crowded areas, repetitive exercises, and the presence of rubbish. Your feedback is valuable, and we'll use it to enhance our services and address these concerns.
We hope you consider visiting again, perhaps during a different season, to fully experience the spectacular beauty of Ha Long Bay.

We had a great time on board. The scenery was beautiful and we were very happy that we took the 2 nights / 3 day trip to Bai Tu Long bay because you see a lot more with less people. All the staff on board were very kind to us. It was all very well arranged.
A special thanks to Sunday, who was our Tour guide for the first day. He was very enthusiastic and made sure we all felt very happy on board. He made it extra special! Greetings from the happy couple.

An excellent way to explore Bai Tu Long Bay. Our tour guide Jenny was lovely and gave us lots of information on the way to Halong. She was a good sport and very entertaining and we had a lovely evening during game time. The food on the cruise was excellent and so were the rooms and service.

One of the most amazing experiences we’ve ever had. Choosing a tour which took us to Bai Tu Long Bay rather than just Ha Long Bay meant we got the quiet, beautiful experience we hoped for.
The boat and crew were incredible and the tour guides Tommy & Man were friendly and knowledgeable.

The beautiful scenery was enhanced by good food, nice accomodations, and a wonderful staff. We were in capable hands the minute we left Hanoi. They were very attentive to our needs; they even bought me a birthday cake! Would recommend the 3 day cruise. The middle full day was my favorite day.

June 2019 • Family
This is a tough review to write. The staff and itinerary were great, but the boat was NOT. We were a family of 4 (2 teenagers) who did the 3 day / 2 night cruise in June 2019.
CONS
Rooms:
We booked the “Deluxe family interconnecting cabin.” The pic online is NOT what we got.
We were given two rooms that had a connecting door. When we were given our keys, we had to move beds and night stands away from doors in both rooms, to even open the doors. I don’t think people ever connect these rooms, as there was dust all along the threshold between rooms. With night stands being moved to allow for the doors to open, we had maybe 6 inches to walk between bed/night stand. Both rooms were like this.
One room had a double bed and the other had two twins. The twin beds had to be pushed together (boy and girl teens didn’t like this) to allow any walk space to get to the other room, and again the night stand was in the “aisle” which only allowed 6 inches to get by.
The bathroom in the double room was disgusting. We only used the toilet in the double room but luckily we had the shower in the twin room for 4 of us to use. The double room shower was dark, there were dead moths on the soap tray, and the sliding door was beat up and starting to rot in some areas (SEE PHOTOS OF ROOMS). The bathroom in the twin room was fair.
Our "Deluxe family interconnecting cabin" had no balcony, as pictured on the website.
The A/C in one room worked well, the other did not.
I honestly don’t know what boat they pictured for their website. It was not the one we were on.
Dining Room:
The common dining room was very hot for each meal. Unless your seat was in front of a small A/C unit, there was no cold air. There were a few fans that circulated the room temp air, but if you were not in front of them it was hot. Your group is assigned a table for the trip. Just hope it is near a fan or A/C. Our first day of meals, we had no fan or A/C near us. Ask for a plug in fan to be moved towards your table. I wish I had done that on day one, but I didn’t want to be overly demanding. My mistake.
PROS
Staff was great. They were attentive, informed, and kind. We can’t say enough good things about the staff.
The food was good. There is a lot of seafood, understandably. If you don’t love it, ask for a non-seafood option at the beginning of the trip. Perfect scenario: 4 people - two get regular meals (with seafood), two get non-seafood. The food is plentiful, so you will have the best options with seafood and non seafood dishes at each meal.
Kayaking, pearl farm, and floating village tours were great.
The bus ride from Hanoi to Halong Bay was very nice. The buses had free WIFI.
OVERALL, the ship is run-down and not like the pictures on their website. The company needs to put money into their fleet. Period. Maybe most of the cruise options in this price range have similar fleets in similar conditions. (FYI-I did A LOT of research at this price point. I had read some comments about shabby boats. I read that about several of the companies. I thought I chose the one with the least bad-boat reviews.)
HOW Swan has the high average on TA is amazing. Maybe people are just rating the staff. In June, it is hot in Halong Bay, you will want to sit in a room with A/C when you are not on an excursion during the day. When it is in between meals, our dining room did not have the A/C on and the doors were left open for a breeze. Thus, you will want to sit in your cabin/room to relax. We sat on our beds with the A/C cranked. So, you want a room that is decent to come back to.
I would not recommend Swan Cruises. I wish we had spent a little more per person and had better room conditions. Our rooms were downright depressing.

we are a party of 4 people and want to book the cruise.
Is the package include hotel pickup from hanoi? also, we need to be drop-off at the airport (HAN) to catch a fly around 7pm.
can you advise how we can arrange for the drop-off?
and what is the cost?
Written 8 May 2019
Return trip from your hotel in Hanoi is included. On the return leg a taxi pickup can be arranged on the way to get you direct to the airport. It worked perfect for us.

Hello, I have found different itineraries for this tour. For example on the website of Swan cruises. I’m looking for a tour that has two nights on the actual boat. I often found, that the first night was really on land. Would love the reassurance from you, that in this case we sleep on the ship both nights. Thank you so much already! Kind regards
