An awesome trip to Rio Seco Waterfall
My girlfriend and I were both blown away by this tour. First up our customer service review: I booked the tour VERY last minute on the 16th of July 2019 around 5 PM. Thought they would def be closed but within an hour I got an email from Dominic saying he'll have space to give us a tour of Rio Seco on the 17th at 7 AM. That alone blew my mind that he was able to fit us in so quick without a problem. Got picked up at 7 right on time at our hotel (which was a bit out of the way) by Johnatan who was an extremely nice and friendly gentleman, and who was also wearing a bright neon green vest that said HIKE LEADER. So +1 for being on time, professional and easy to find. He went through exactly what we should expect as kind of a pre-meeting talk, so we knew of the dangers. Then what happened next was really and truly unexpected. On the road to Rio Seco he asked us if we had breakfast. Being 7 AM was the pick-up and knowing most hotels offer breakfast at 7 he offered to stop off somewhere and sample some local fare (bake and pumpkin. get it.). That was thoughtful and nice. Chatting on the road helped kill time and John was a extremely skilled driver and I didn't feel in any danger at all on the roads. Got to the start of the hike point, the parking lot is actually the front yard of a local who is also very polite and nice. John took the time to get us limbered up and re-explained the dangers of the trail. At this time I was doubting my ability to climb it, but he assured me it should be do-able given the weather conditions. So he got a cutlass, offered us water and we went on the way! The trail itself is everything we were told. It was really narrow at certain points, really root-y and rocky at other times and PLEASE WEAR BOOTS! it was sooo muddy as well! But about 40 minutes, 7000+ steps and 3.5ish miles we climbed down the hill to see Rio Seco. And at that moment the hike was worth it. It looked EXACTLY like the pictures. I recommend booking on a non rainy day, for two reasons: 1) The hill being made of mud and narrow; you get less of a chance to slip 2) The waterfall's pool is actually blue on non-rain days due to a lack of mud. When we got to the waterfall we swam a bit (John provided life vest to me since I'm not a strong swimmer) and relaxed on the rocks. He gave us all the time we wanted, I didn't feel rushed at all. Then we geared up and walked back, which as he promised, was much quicker and easier. On the way to and fro he pointed out various species of plants that we saw, gave their names and a brief history of it, which was thoughtful, informative and fun to learn Got back to the car after about about 40 minutes and we were able to wash our shoes off. On the way back to the hotel we were understandably tired so John took the time to give us the most comfortable ride possible, and he even stopped at a KFC (try the zingers). Overall, I highly recommend this, John was great and I never felt in danger and Dominic was professional and really able to put a great trip together. For Rio Seco in particular I suggest a few things - Be in shape, but there are spots to rest up - Carry or find a walking stick, really helps with balance - Wear shoes you don't mind getting muddy - Get a good breakfast and rest - Book it Good luck! 10/10

The Best Tour Operator Company in Trinidad - Hands Down
Los Exploradorestt Tour Agency's service is exceptional. When I booked the Avocat Waterfall Tour, I honestly did not know what to expect. I was in Trinidad on business and snuck in some fun. I was also traveling alone, which I do often, and never know how these tours will go. Happily, the professionalism combined with Dominic's courteousness, kind touches and knowledge of the Island and nature made for a truly enjoyable experience. Dominic was there to pick me up promptly at 7AM. That does not seem like a big deal, right. Well, traffic in Trinidad is indescribable. A 10 minute drive turns into one hour because the traffic is so bad during the day. To ensure that he was not late, he got to my bed and breakfast at 5 AM and waited, so that we could start on time. I know he was there that early because the owner of the bed and breakfast had a conversation with him while he waited. So, that was the first example of the service. When Dominic got out of the car to greet me, I immediately knew that I was in good hands. Not only was he professionally dressed, his manner was respectful and warm. He prepped me on our itinerary and made sure I was buckled in safely before we left. Safety is priority and he and his team are all first aid trained. Second example of the service.Nice touches included the thoughtfulness in the giving of a sunhat (which I used all day and included in my photos) and having water and fresh fruits for the ride and hike. Dominic pointed out important sites, shared some of the Island's history and described various plants and tress along our drive. We stopped for photos at Maracas Lookout, Maracas Beach and Las Cuevas Beach before folks arrived and so it was like having the beaches to yourself. We also stopped for fresh coconut water in Blanchisseuse village and checked in at the local police station before heading toward the hike route - safety again. The hike itself was not too challenging. Expect to get wet even if you don't stand under the waterfall. You cross the shallow water at several points during the walk. You definitely need closed shoes/sneakers with good grip. Flip flops won't work. I had decent walking sandals but I recommend light hiking shoes because it can get slippery in certain areas. I can't remember how long we walked but it wasn't bad at all - I am not an experienced hiker and over 40. The waterfall view is absolutely worth it! I had some anxiety about standing underneath it but Dominic was patient and guided me over to it. Best massage ever (from the water and not Dominic :-))! Our next stop was Maracas Beach for delicious bake and shark and a dip in the beautiful blue water (I can't swim) and relaxing time soaking up the sun before heading on the road back. We made one final stop for souvenir shopping - mostly handmade jewelry and no pressure to buy. By this time there was traffic going back but Dominic was patient and safe getting me back to my bed and breakfast. This is my first TripAdvisor review ever and I have traveled a fair bit and used several tour companies. Previously, I was never compelled to follow through on writing a review, even for pretty good companies. If you can't tell, I highly recommend this tour company. I had the pleasure of working with Dominic but I'm sure his other tour guides are just as fabulous. Dominic ensured that I was comfortable without being overbearing and he demonstrated that this is more than just a job for him. You won't be disappointed if you chose Los Exploradorestt Tour Agency for the Avocat Waterfall tour - or any other I imagine. I am already planning my next trip to Trinidad and will definitely work with this company. Thank you for making my time here so enjoyable, Dominic!

Awesome Adventure!
I can't say enough great things about the Avocat Falls tour with Los Exploradores. I recently toured the Avocat waterfalls with tour guide, Dominic and was wow'd from beginning to end. The falls were stunning and the hike to the falls was beautiful. Dominic pointed out plants, trees and insects native to the area. If I could do it all over again, I would have been better prepared with proper hiking gear and ensuring my phone was water proof (i'm not an experienced hiker). The actual hike time from parking to the falls was a little less than 40 mins. Again, this time is from someone that is not an experienced hiker. Because of that I once again want to give props to Dominic for ensuring the hike remained safe and that I was using proper footing the entire time. This tour is not only beneficial to see the waterfall but also the chance to see surrounding villages and participate in the famous Bake and Shark on Maracas Bay. From the focus on safety to knowledge of the area, every aspect exceeded my expectations. I look forward to continuous bookings with them.

A Beautiful Peaceful Scenery
This beachfront is amazing. It's peaceful and breezy. The waters here are choppy and not safe for bathing.
