Overview
Zoom through the verdant countryside of St. Kitts, admiring volcanoes and tropical plant life, during this 3-hour shore excursion on a guided ATV (all-terrain vehicle) ride. Get your blood pumping as you zip through sugar cane fields and along rolling hills before making a stop at a historic sugar plantation and for a visit at a textile center for 'batik' (a specially-dyed fabric). As you ride your guide will share details about the island’s unique culture and history. Your ATV excursion also includes a safety briefing, all necessary equipment, entrance fees, round-trip transport from the port and Viator’s worry-free shore excursion guarantee.
What to Expect
Spend a few action-packed hours touring the rugged countryside of Saint Kitts by ATV (all-terrain vehicle), enjoying magnificent scenery and a stop at a historic sugar plantation and textile center, during this 3-hour ride. This shore excursion is the perfect blend of adventure, culture and natural scenery during your short stopover on this beautiful Caribbean island.
Begin the trip with a pickup at the cruise ship port in Saint Kitts, continuing to a local ATV shop where you’ll rendezvous with your guide for the day. Get kitted out with a helmet and goggles and listen to a safety briefing and instructions to operate your off-road vehicle. Then hit the throttle and head into the Saint Kitts countryside.
Trace the path of your guide as you start your trip, following a trail that’s been tailored to the experience level of your group. You’ll move more quickly or slowly based on how well the participants are handling the terrain. Riders of all levels of experience are welcome. Kick up a little mud as you wind your way along the rolling trails, zooming along lush sugar cane fields.
As you drive you’ll also pass a historic sugar plantation, at which point your guide will share insights about the history of the island’s sugar industry. Continue riding until you reach the Wingfield Estate, located in the foothills of the island’s central mountain range. This beautiful estate is set among a collection of beautiful gardens which host a wealth of plant life.
Spend some time exploring the estate’s 17th century relics, which were used in the manufacture of refined sugar and rum. Interestingly, the estate is considered the first English settlement in the Caribbean and was owned by an ancestor of US President Thomas Jefferson.
Then motor your way to your last stop at Caribelle Batik, located just next door to Wingfield Estate. This textile center features the work of local artisans, who produce a special fabric called batik (a specially-dyed fabric in colorful patterns). Watch the artisans at work and feel free to purchase a few items.
Following your stop at Caribelle Batik, you’ll make your way back to the ATV shop, where you’ll receive a ride back to the port.
Worry-free Shore Excursion:We will ensure your timely return to the Basseterre port for this activity. In the rare event your ship has departed, we will arrange for transportation to the next port-of-call. If your ship is delayed and you are unable to attend this activity, your money will be refunded. See our terms and conditions for full details.

Ok for Serious ATV Riders

Great ATVs, and nice people running this excursion, but you should only do this if you're up for a rather challenging ATV course. It's very rough terrain with hairpin turns. Many people don't finish the tour, I spoke to one guy who was rather large...More
