El Yunque Rain Forest Nature Walk and Bioluminescent Bay Kayaking Combo Tour
USD 165.00
Overview
Combine off-the-beaten-track with must-do adventure on this tour of El Yunque National Forest and a bioluminescent bay. Let a guide lead the way as you trek and wade through a rugged portion of the rain forest unknown to most visitors. Complete your day with a calm kayak ride through waters glowing with phosphorescent organisms—a must while in Puerto Rico.
What to Expect
Begin your tour with pickup from your San Juan accommodation and head straight to El Yunque National Forest, the only tropical rain forest in the United States National Forest System. Gear up for an adventure wading through rivers and hiking along trails for roughly four hours en route to a waterfall, all while learning about the ecosystem from your guide.

After lunch at a typical restaurant (own expense), kayak through a mangrove forest for roughly 30 minutes to reach one of Puerto Rico’s famous bioluminescent bays. Enjoy free time watching the waters light up with glowing organisms before paddling back.

Tour concludes with hotel drop-off in San Juan.

Note: Due to Hurricane Maria, parts of the forest are currently closed. A similar experience is available along alternate trails.

A great adventure

This was one of our most memorable experiences in Puerto Rico. The nature walk was a lot of fun and was also great exercise. The only drawback was that Roberto and EJ weren't able to be there to help everyone in the group through all...More

Amazing (and exhausting) day!

Van picked us up right on time at our hotel. Our guides were Roberto and EJ - both were fantastic! Stop 1 - rainforest hike. I will say, this is really more of a "play in the water" day then an "explore the rainforest" adventure,...More

We enjoyed every bit of the rain forest thanks to Hector - he was so helpful and resourceful. We went through beautiful river crossings, fun tarzan jumps and natural water slides. The hike was a bit of challenge which we completely enjoyed. Hector was completely...More

Amazing experience filled with so much fun.

First off, Roberto was an amazing guide. Once we loaded the van, it was about 50 minutes to the rainforest. We stopped for fruit and smoothies before. Once we got to the site, we hiked around a mile and half to the first spot. Roberto...More

No. There are actually 3 bio-bays in Puerto Rico. There is on on Vieques, but that typically requires an overnight stay from what I understand. This tour takes you to the bay just north of Fajardo (Laguna Grande)

Absolutely. You will be in the kayak the entire time, and for most of the time the water is only about waist deep, so even if you were to fall out of the boat, you can touch the bottom. Life vests are also required, so you... More

Good question. I was skeptical at first too. Although I’ve been on this tour years before the hurricane, I thoroughly enjoyed which is why I wanted to experience it again. This time around (after hurricane), it was a similar... More
