Historical Santo Domingo Day Trip from Punta Cana
USD 85.00
Overview
Explore the highlights of Santo Domingo, the oldest city in the Americas, on this sightseeing day trip from Punta Cana, a great choice for first-time visitors and history buffs. Visit the caves at Three Eyes National Park, the Columbus Lighthouse, the walled Colonial Zone, and the National Presidential Palace, traveling between attractions with ease in an air-conditioned coach. A traditional Dominican lunch is also included.
What to Expect
Your tour starts with pickup from your hotel in Punta Cana in an air-conditioned coach. Travel about two and a half hours to Santo Domingo, the oldest city in the New World and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

On arrival in Santo Domingo, explore the underground caves used by the indigenous Taino Indians at Three Eyes National Park. Stop at the Columbus Lighthouse, and then travel to the Colonial Zone, a walled 16-square-block historic district with many firsts of the New World such as the first cathedral, university, and hospital.

Visit the Columbus Palace, home of Christopher Columbus’ son Diego, and walk along Calle Las Damas, the oldest paved street in the New World. Stop for a traditional Dominican lunch and then visit the National Presidential Palace. That leaves just enough time to pop into a souvenir shop before heading back to Punta Cana to end your tour.

Good Time in Santo Domingo

I really enjoyed the bilingual presentation, the drive through the city. The buffet lunch with the bachata dancing was great. The church visit was too long. The palace tour was interesting.

Historical tour was OK but the guide and the shopping were a big disappointment

Like many other people who have written reviews about this trip, we were also picked up by a van at 7am and driven around Bavaro/Punta Cana area for a long time before being switched to a bigger van, so the trip to Santo Domingo seemed...More
