About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- juliec20140 contributionsWarm bubbles!!!This is a very unique experience. The staff are very helpful & kind. We were on an excursion from Holland America & one of our cruisers had trouble in the water. The staff helped her to shore & then made sure she got back to the hut where we had all our belongings.Written 17 March 2025
- 182joannf0 contributionsChampagne Beach FunThe guide Zev was fun yet professional. He paid close attention to everyone in our group of about 20. The swim to the bubbles was a leisurely 2 or 3 hundred yards with several large boulders with moderate coral on the way to the bubbles. There was plenty of time to explore the coral. The champagne reef is as advertised-- an interesting phenomenon not seen in many places. The equipment was good. Most of the people in our group were on a cruise ship. We were allowed to keep the equipment and use the lounge chairs at no extra charge for the rest of the afternoon. I spent the next 2 hours exploring some of the Coral on my own. Zed, the lead guide, periodically checked in with us to make sure that we were comfortable and did not need anything. He was good natured, patient and considerate of all the guests. All in all, it was a very pleasant afternoon. Only caveat, if you are driving yourself there, the meeting point is hard to find. There was no signage noting Champagne Beach. You literally need to park by the side of the road, by Porta potties and a slew of taxis, and walk down a set of stairs to the entrance to the beach.Written 11 February 2025
- 265cynthiab0 contributionsBubbles magicalBrittney and Selo did all they could to make this experience great! But, the rain made for poor visibility so we didn’t see much marine life, but the bubble beach area was magical!Written 7 February 2025
- Camper6471460 contributionsAmazing ExperienceThe tour guide Zeke was awesome! He was very nice and took me on a great tour. Zeke really went out of his way to make sure I had a great experience.Written 2 February 2025
- kurtt2250 contributionsGreat Snorkeling!Champagne Reef has a nice variety of things to see. Lots of sponges, a few fans, a few anemones. Hundreds of fish. Some varieties of coral. Saw one eel. We were told the reef is still recovering from the hurricane. There was no significant current when we were there, so weak swimmers can do this snorkeling. Snorkeling distance is probably about 400-500+ yards or so. You can go a shorter distance, but you won't see all the sights. The bubbles are in one area, cannon in another etc. Definitely would do it again!Written 2 February 2025
- C79-Family0 contributionsFriendly Crew/Very AccomodatingWe had a full boat of 8 people - 3 in our group and 5 in the other group. We enjoyed the crew and all the people. The morning before we left was very hot and still, but by the afternoon when we left it was perfect with a breeze. We got to go out to two locations, though Scotts Head was closed down due to the previous storm. 7 of the people got out and snorkeled. I was reluctant, but with the support of my husband and one of the staff, I got a life preserver and fins on, got in the water - very comfortable. No pressure to get my head in the water. Everyone loved seeing the underwater fish and coral - due to the warming of the water, the colors of coral were not vibrant, but nothing the company could do anything about. I'd highly recommend using this company. The pre-booking communication was super helpful.Written 17 November 2024
- bs59cs630 contributionsBest snorkeling experience ever!!This was the best snorkeling 🤿 experience ever !! Zee was an excellent guide!! My husband and I were the only ones so we had a personal one on one with Zee helping us in anyway we needed. He was very patient! The champagne bobbles, the reef 🪸 and all the beautiful fish 🐟 🐢🐠 were very beautiful. The only negative is the walk on the shore of rocks. Very hard to walk and a little hard getting in and out of the water. Once again he helped with that. All equipment was provided. Definitely recommend!! 🙏🏻🫶🏼😎Written 16 November 2024
- chrisbM5380FK0 contributionsWonderful snorkelling experienceWe had a wonderful snorkelling afternoon tour to Champagne Beach and Scott’s Head on 22nd Jan 2024. The crew, Brittany & ?Selwyn were really friendly and and great guides. There were only 4 of us doing the tour so plenty of space on the boat. The snorkelling was superb at both sites, beautiful clear water, pretty reefs, plenty of fish and of course the incredible bubbles at Champagne Beach. Unfortunately we couldn't go to the hot baths as the water levels were too low but this was compensated for by sailing close to a pod of dolphins. I highly recommend this tour & this company. Thank you for a great afternoon.Written 2 March 2024

The guide (Britney) and boat driver (Selwyn) served us really well and guided us to the most fantastic whale experience. Thank you. - lee75460 contributionsGo snorkeling with PH Whale! We had a lovely time on this tour! Selwyn made it easy to arrange a tour for three people and the price was great. We saw all sorts of fish, eels, squid, and octopi, the famous champagne vents, coral reefs, and part of a shipwreck! We highly recommend!Written 20 July 2023
- Meagan P0 contributionsSelwin great guideExcellent time! Saw so many fish I’ve never seen before! Selwin was so knowledgeable and kind, and he showed us all kinds of things: rays, octopus, squid, different kinds of parrotfish, flounder, and all kinds of endangered species.Written 16 July 2023
- GizFriend20140 contributionsPoor Communication/Didn't show up at Confirmed timeMy husband and I booked this tour on our second visit to Dominica. We were on a cruise ship, and booked the morning tour. I reconfirmed about a week prior to our cruise. When we arrived in Dominica, we went to the meeting point. There was no one from our tour there. Another tour guide called the company, and I was told that I had booked the afternoon tour. I had the confirmation email from them for the morning tour in my hand. Then he told me that he was sorry, but there was only an afternoon tour. We took the afternoon tour, and it was fine. We enjoyed seeing Champagne Reef again with the easier access from a boat. The guide did a great job. We also snorkeled at a spot called the Pinnacles. The other tour guide snorkeled with us at that stop. She was not that good. She didn't pay attention to where we were (in reasonably rough water) nor did she actually point out any fish or other things in the water. After they obviously messed up with our reservation, I expected an apology, but did not receive any. If I had known it was an afternoon tour, I could have made arrangements to do other things in the morning. It was disappointing.Written 7 May 2023
- M7888HFchristinam0 contributionsBetter with a guideHad a great time, I was on my own with a family of four. The coral isn’t too far off the beach and with the fins there isn’t much swimming needed. Nice relaxing time, with points of interest explained… glad I went for a tour instead of doing solo and hiring fins as I would have missed all the good spotsWritten 24 April 2023

Selwyn ("Selo") and Brittany provide an excellent whale watching experience. (Assuming that the whales cooperate. We saw two sperm whales and were able to get within about 100 feet of them.) Selo is very knowledgeable and is passionate about how some of the tourist operations are disturbing the whales and possibly driving them away.
As has been noted, the boat is an open skiff with a canvas top for shade and seating for 8 people. It is a seaworthy boat. On the day of our trip there was an unusual south wind that caused 3-4 foot swells and significant chop. I have 60 years experience with boats, and Selo was an excellent captain in these conditions. As I told him, he kept everybody "safe, comfortable and reasonably dry." Except for the one dash to where the whales had been sighted, he kept the boat oriented to the swells for safety and comfort. When returning to the dock he went right along the beach, providing a smooth ride and excellent views of Dominica.
Suggestions: There is no bathroom (head) on the boat, so limit your fluid intake before the trip. Parking is hard to find in Roseau, so if you are driving allow extra time to find a space and to walk to the dock. Check out the south end of town, around Turkey Lane, for parking.

We were picked up on time and very warmly at the agreed meeting point.
We were with 8 people tour guide Britney and boatmaster on the boat. After a fast drive of half an hour, the boatmaster has begun locating ( sonar ). After an hour we saw a group of sperm whales of 3 animals, but they were not so long on the water surface. After another tracking we encountered 4 animals that we could observe for a very long time.
Big praise to Britney, she has given us some info in words and pictures about the whales, their ways of life and especially how to distinguish them.
The boat crew was always at a certain distance from the animals, but close enough to still take good pictures.
There were drinks on board and finally a Rum Punch.;-)
Tour we would do any time again, hoping to see dolphins as well.

We already did this tour last year - even after a long drive we finally saw a whale family and so we just wanted to try it again. We were 8 passengers on board : Bridney gave a short theoretical introduction with laminated photos and off we went : however, heavy rain started for the first time! The Scipper had professional capes with hood for us, we stayed dry. After only 30 minutes : Whales in sight! They even had a cub with them. From another boat, snorkelers went into the water with a photographer : actually too close, because they touched the animals and their fins - the juvenile as well ... Actually, spacing is a rule! Fortunately, the family quickly disappeared. We were all totally flashed! We went on: and we were so lucky: we had another two observations and were able to take great photos from our small boat : at the end delicious Caribbean round rum. Clear recommendation!

Great tour with small group - therefore very close to nature. Britney is a joyful nature and brought us everything we needed to know about the sperm whales. You can tell how much she also loves these animals.

I did this tour solo and walked there from our cruise ship (5 minute walk). It was a little confusing that your meeting location was at the ferry terminal amongst all the people catching the ferry, but I figured it out. Great boat ride with lots of scenery to observe while you are waiting for the whales to surface. We saw four whales, including a mom and her calf. Small group on our boat, 8 passengers total. They provided us with water and rum punch for the ride back. Be aware, there are no bathroom facilities at the ferry terminal or on the boat.
I was impressed that they stayed to watch over a group of snorkelers who were left behind by their own boat in pursuit of another whale. They stayed by the people in the water until their boat (from a different company) returned.

We didn’t have much planned for our trip to Dominica and reached out last minute to try to get a whale watching tour. We submitted an inquiry through the website online form and Harry got back to us right away to accommodate our request to go out for a whale watching tour. Selwyn and Britney picked us up from the Roseau port in the afternoon and took us out for a few hours in search of sperm whales. They quickly found four whales that were with some divers. They didn’t just stop there, and instead continued to other areas. We ultimately saw about 10 whales, including one that jumped out of the water! It was amazing and a very memorable experience.
We had such a great time that when we had flight issues that kept us in Dominica for a couple extra days, we reached out to Harry again to ask about snorkeling at Champagne Beach. We messaged him on WhatsApp around 10 pm and he got back to us very quickly to set up a tour with Selwyn for 2 pm the next day. We later found out that they had other administrative plans that day, but they had wanted to accommodate us so much, they moved their plans around to be able to give my husband and I a personal snorkeling tour. Selwyn took us out and showed us so many beautiful fish and the champagne bubbles! He also was very helpful and patient with us (my husband’s facial hair was creating issues with his mask). Harry and Pam were on the beach watching our luggage for us.
All of the group was so helpful and hospitable. Finding them really made our trip so much better and we can’t recommend them enough!

The team is very professional, not "after-work skippers". The boat has space for eight guests and is in good condition. The tour was a lot of fun and we encountered a group of "killer whales", very nice. Contact with the team on site was no problem, very friendly!

Brittney and Cello were incredible, very diligent, safe, caring and knowledgeable. I’m a nervous passenger and I felt not one bit of panic being a mile or two out at sea. We saw whales straight away, about 8 or nine in total, it was amazing!! We would defo recommend going on this trip instead of the organised trip via the cruise ship.

This is nature, so we knew there were no guarantees of seeing anything. After 3 hours plus of my wife feeling seasick, and my back killing me (it's a very bumpy ride at high-speed) we saw precisely nothing!
Captain Kevin, and Pam both seemed genuinely disappointed that they weren't able to find the whales for us.
They offered us another trip, should the circumstances conspire to provide us with the opportunity when the chances of seeing them were higher. We thought about it, did we really want to go through it again?
We decided to risk it, and gratefully accepted Pam's kind offer.
The circumstances changed, and we did get the promised call. Pam and Harry were as good as their word, which is a quality I greatly admire.
We made our way down to the ferry terminal in Roseau, and set-off on Whale watching trip Mkll
The hydrophone was working well, the Sperm whales clicks were detected and relayed to us via a speaker. There was hope.
The clicks were coming from all directions, we headed north.
Another 2 hours at sea and still we had seen nothing. At least we heard them this time.
And then it happened, a very excited Captain shouted "There she blows! "
Kevin had seen a whale use its blowhole, some way off in the distance.
It was then a case of "hold tight, full speed ahead"
Sperm whales typically spend 45-50 minutes under water, then 10 minutes at the surface preparing for their next dive.
We got there in time, saw our first whale, and Kevin even knew when she was going to deep dive and show us her tail fluke. We saw it 😊
Another boat got closer and Captain Kevin called on the radio "why are you so close?" He even asked the other captain to back off!
Captain Kevin really respects these animals, and always observes from a safe distance, totally respecting their space.
We went on to see half a dozen or so female Sperm whales, including one of the named ones who stay in the area all year round, she was called Can Opener. We also saw a mother with her calf, who dived one quickly after the other and we saw both tail flukes at once. Awesome!
Furthermore, we saw a pod of who knows how many Fraser's Dolphins, 30 or so perhaps? They played in the bow waves, with two coming back the other way and completely jumping out of the water about 3 or 4 metres from us. Spectacular!
It was a day that will live long in my memory and I cannot thank Kevin, Pam and Harry enough for their efforts.

The sea was rough, but our crew did a wonderful job of providing great views of dolphins and once further out , several sperm whales. Our Captain wore a Dive Dominica shirt and worked well with his friendly crew who took great care of us all. Some passengers had mobility issues, yet the crew took great care of them and made sure they got to see the incredible creatures we were seeing.
