What to expect
  • Make your way to Curacao's pier to meet your professional kayak guide for a safety briefing and basic paddling instruction. Climb into your double kayak and follow your guide from the pier out into the turquoise ocean and up along the coast of the island. Paddle across open water in beautiful Caracas Bay, then spend time boating through the coastline's protected waters. Pass landmarks like Ft Beekenberg, so named for Heer van Beek, who coordinated Willemstad's defense against the invading British fleets in 1703. Pull your kayak up on a deserted sand and coral-stone beach. Slip on the provided snorkel gear, including a mask, flippers and snorkel and dive in. Enjoy some of the best snorkeling on the island; the fact that these sites are difficult to reach means they are uncrowded and the plant and animal life is particularly vibrant. When you're finished exploring the underwater landscape, hop in your kayak for the paddle back to the pier.

Time confusion
Dec. 2019 • Friends
We paid extra to get a lift from our cruise ship to their venue. Our ticket said 9 am. We got out there at 8:40 and waited 30 minutes. Another tour operator called for us and they said we were supposed to be out at 8:30. They said we could grab a taxi and hurry to catch up. We said we quit.

Dear guest, We picked up all the other guest at 8.30 and as you were not their left. We asked if you could get a taxi at our costs, we would wait for you to catch up. We tried to be flexible even tough we could not find you and if you would have taken the taxi you still would have been able to do the whole tour as there was enough time for you to get to the office on time and join the others.

Best excursion hands down
May 2019 • Couples
We booked excursions for our cruise literally days before our arrival. I had been googling best excursions and by far this was worth it. I'll start from the beginning. We did not book this tour through the cruise ship, we booked this on our own. We were sent by taxi to Adrenaline's "headquarters" on the bay. The taxi ride was a little "sketchy" - in that we had to tell the taxi driver where to take us when we thought he knew where he was taking us. Once we arrived it was my husband, myself, the tour guide and another man. It was literally a private tour. The kayaking was across the bay into the wind - it was a little tough, but being in a double kayak helped. We went to an old fort and walked around that and took some pictures from the top. We then kayaked to the beach where the tugboat was located. I was incredibly surprised by the amount of fish that were around the tugboat. I was not anticipating what a wonderful experience it was going to be. Truly incredible. I appreciate everyone elses reviews who say this is the best experience on the island. I am so happy we did it. When we kayaked back across the bay it was like surfing b/c the wind was to our backs. Dayvon was our "tour guide" and he was WONDERFUL. He was incredibly patient and assisted us the entire time and answered all my questions about the island. My only suggestion to the company would be to offer the inflatable vests. I am personally not the best swimmer. So once we started swimming back to shore (which really wasn't too far out) I swapped between swimming on my back and looking for more fish. But don't take my inability to swim to miss this incredibly opportunity to snorkel among hundreds and hundreds of beautiful fish.

Waste of time
Mar. 2019 • Couples
Agree with David W.
The owners seem to only really care about the clients who rented jet ski's. Rough paddle to beach that does not have a view but of an old rusty ship. Can't use the lounge chairs without extra charge (really? I paid a lot for this trip). No fins provided!! Good fish visible. Stop at an old fort for brief history of area. Then paddle back. Overall place seems disorganized and just in it for the money-very disappointed.

Dear Rosemary S, Thank you for your review. We are constantly searching for feedback to improve our tours. We regret you did not like the tour as others tourists do. As for your complaint, The tour is an active tour and requires participation of guests and guest should have a good physical condition. Guest take care of their own kayak on the tour and guides where necessary assist the guest with getting on and off the kayak. If there are more guest it is possible that they cannot help everyone immediately. The group was mostly seniors, 60 plus and we had guest with physical back problems on this tour that needed extra attention. We will add info to the description so guest understand it is an active tour. The beach you stopped at, is a public beach and the sunbeds are provided by another company and are therefore not included, as we mentioned during the briefing before the tour. We do not provide fins to avoid damage to the corals and due to limited space on the kayaks.

Terrible excursion - please don’t waste your money
Mar. 2019 • Friends
It sounds great - private beach, beautiful fish, amazing views.
What you get:
A late bus followed by a ride to their location
Kayak across a bay, under a dock and around an Oiler drilling ship that is in storage
Arrive at a very small rocky beach - don’t use the chairs you have to pay the bar owner for them
Join the other 50 school children and adults who are there at the public beach
No fins since they only provide a mask and snorkel
The water was very clear and a lot of fish
Get back in your kayak, no help from the guides
Stop at the old fort - careful getting out without help again
Return to the shop location
Wait for another bus
Then have the bus bypass your ship because it is easier for the driver. You then need to get out and wait for the bus again
Use any other company - This one is not worth it.

Dear David Warning, Thank you for your review. We are constantly searching for feedback to improve our tours. We regret you did not like the tour as others tourists do. As for your complaint, the bus arrived from the ship 5 minutes later than planned but a rep at the gate informed our guest at the gate that the bus would first pick up guest at the other ship and next come to the gate. You arrived on time at the office 9.00. We include the tour description of the company you booked with. It does not mention private beach. Depending the seasonal current, the beach has more coral stones or is more sandy. On Sundays it can be more crowded compared to other days as the locals and tourist mingle on the beaches. The tour is an active tour and requires participation of guests and guest should have a good physical condition. The driver brought you back near the gate where you were picked up as you were not picked up at the ship that is just standard procedure. Tour description of Shorexcursion group: Join us on a glorious Kayak and Snorkeling Tour. Discover the beauty of Curacao as you paddle along the amazing coastline to see its natural wonders and historical locations. After a safety briefing, climb aboard your kayak and follow your professional guide to remote areas where you will marvel at the tropical vegetation and wildlife. You will paddle across Caracas Bay (approximately 20 minutes open water). Here, you will see cultural highlights such as Fort Beekenburg as you paddle for approximately another 20 minutes in the protected waters along the coast. The Fort was originally built in 1703 to ward off the French and British fleets. It was named after Heer van Beek, who from 1701 to 1704 coordinated the city of Willemstad's defense. You will land at a deserted stretch of beach, a combination of sand and coral stones, which will allow you access to some of the best snorkeling on the island, not only for the natural beauty underwater, but also for the lack of crowds above. Before heading back, cool off with a refreshing swim in the pristine tropical waters. Above the beach you can see a manor estate, the Quarantaine Hospital, which was built in 1700 and used for treatment of sick seaman. The paddle back is approximately 30 minutes across the Bay. Restrictions The minimum age to participate in this tour is 6 years old. The weight limit for this tour is 240 pounds for one passenger and both passengers combined may not exceed 360 pounds. Guests should be able to swim and must be able to pull themselves back into the kayak if they fall out. Shore Excursion Size Small Shore Excursion Type Active, Water beach, Scenic

Fabulous Day and Great Guides
Jan. 2019 • Couples
We had a wonderful day on Curacao with Adrenaline Tours. The guides were wonderful and took excellent care of us. We discovered on the way over to the snorkeling that my husband's back did not respond well to kayaking and the guys took him back in their kayak so that he could lay flat. In addition to wonderful guides, the snorkeling was fabulous! I have heard so much about the diving in Curacao and people were not lying! All in all, I can't say enough wonderful things about this group.

Perfect excursion
Four of us did the kayak and snorkel tour and loved it. The staff were professional and helpful; we had a fantastic guide and enjoyed ourselves very much. The kayak across the bay wasn’t bad at all as seas were relatively calm. The snorkeling was some of the best we’ve had in he Caribbean with lots of interesting fish and coral. Highly recommend.

Great experience...for experienced kayakers
Jul. 2018 • Family
This was such a fun adventure and we would definitely recommend it- except you should definitely be a good kayaker to participate in this trip. We really enjoyed the sea kayaking, although it was difficult; they were two-person kayaks rather than one-person, so you did have help. We kayaked past an oil rig and the hotel the workers were currently staying at to a small, rocky beach where we could snorkel.

The snorkeling was incredible- definitely bring a piece of bread so more fish will show up! We went above a sunken tugboat and although there were a few divers and snorkelers, they left pretty soon after we showed up. It wasn't very deep, so first-time snorkelers like us will be fine.

The way back was easier as the waves were pushing us back to shore. We had a small predicament as the guides couldn't find the key to unlock our lockers, but I guess that just shows how safe our stuff was! We would certainly recommend this tour to all good kayakers!

Well organised tour
Should probably begin this review by apologising to the 4 other couples who joined my husband and I on this tour: Turns out we are terrible kayakers and we’re grateful that you managed to put up with us for the trip 😂 But it was still an enjoyable day and we all laughed about it in the end... once we were safely back on dry land of course.

So, my husband and I booked this tour through TUI as part of a cruise excursion.

Firstly, unlike others, we had no issues finding the tour guides. The details were printed on our tickets delivered to our cabins by the ship and the guides were where we were told they would be, at the correct time.

We snorkel often and had kayaked in Thailand (albeit it in a calm lagoon, not open water) and therefore thought this trio was the best of both worlds.

The kayaking on the way out was TOUGH. We were not expecting to have to kayak in the open sea or in what I considered to be very rough water with the waves against us.

Now, just because we didn’t particularly enjoy this aspect, I haven’t marked the tour down because at the end of the day, we were rubbish. But other couples were very good, coped well and seemed to enjoy it. It’s just something to be mindful of if booking the tour, especially if you’re a first time kayaker.

Our guides were great, very helpful and knowledgeable about the island and the various sights we were passing as we kayaked to the snorkelling area.

They were also very patient with us which was great, because had I been a guide trying to work with my husband and I, I probably would have ditched us both at sea!

The snorkelling area was nice and the water calm. There was a ship wreck and a small variety of fish - however we have snorkelled in many other destinations both in the Caribbean and Asia and I wouldn’t personally put this snorkelling location in my Top 10.

Some of the enjoyment for me was also taken away from the snorkelling with the knowledge that we still had to kayak back to shore at some point - granted this was slightly easier as the waves were with us rather than against us.

Overall, it was an experience that we will not forget - we wouldn’t choose to do it again but that’s down to us, not the tour or the guides.

I would absolutely recommend this tour to people who are more confident in their kayaking abilities or being in open water.

Unique adventure but demanding day
Apr. 2018 • Couples
Good thing Dexter was with us and big and strong because the wind and current really make this a work out. But we took the kayaks out to the oil rig and then went to see the fort. Dexter gave us a great historical overview of the fort and the area. He helped me out when I was getting worn out getting across the bay. Getting back was easy- wished we had a sail. We had never been this close to an oil rig before.

Fab tour, knowledgeable guide - great fun
Mar. 2018 • Couples
If you are ready for a laid-back tour, this is for you. We had to wait for a while in the beginning (none of us spoke to us or acknowledged us), but then it started to roll. There were only 4 couples, fairly young and pretty fit, so it was enjoyable that we were on the same level. Our guide was truly helpful, knowledgeable and took great care of us all the time. Yes, we did kayak alongside the shoreline and saw the oil drillers ‘hotel’. It was actually pretty unique to kayak around it. Then we had our first stop on the fortress, climbing up and seeing the great sights from the top. Then we snorkeled about 45 minutes (at least) to the shipwreck and saw a lot of fish. It was nice. After the snorkel, we continued kayaking to a secluded tiny beach. Then we headed back. I agree that you should be at least average fit to enjoy the tour. It wasn’t the smoothest kayaking, and therefore it is the best if you are in some shape :)

Thank you guys, we had a truly great time!
