Great intro to Bajan (and Carribean) cuisine and histort
Nov. 2021 • Solo
My mum and I did the tour on the 1st of December with Janelle. We were in a small group (6 people including us) which I thought was a perfect size. Janelle was very knowledgeable not only about Bajan cuisine but also the history of Barbados and took us around Bridgetown. We had a nice variety of food given to us (a stewed pork and cassava dish, fishcakes, flying fish with cou cou, donk fruit and fresh coconut water, meat roll and finished with ice cream). I do wonder if you are vegetarian/ vegan how this tour might cater to you but there might be alternatives. All in all highly recommend!

Fabulous Food Tour !
Really enjoyed our tour with our guide Paulette. Everything went smoothly right from our pick up at the hotel with our driver Robert . He was chatty and pleasant pointing out things of interest and it was a lovely start .
We were greeted by Paulette , given water and sat in the shade while she explained what was in store for us and giving us lots of historical information too . I thought we might end up too hot but it was well planned , with plenty of stops and of course food. It was lovely to stop for a refreshing coconut water too . It went quite quickly , Paulette kept it all interesting and was well organised . It ended with some fabulous Agapey ice cream - perfect ! Highly recommended.

Real Barbados
A perfect way to see a little piece of the real Barbados. Our lovely guide Paulette was fun and enthusiastic with a huge wealth of knowledge delivered in a very natural way. Great to try different food away from tourist restaurants.

History and Food!!
This was a fun tour round Bridgetown. Learnt lots about the history at different stages of the tour. Different types of food to try. Each portion doesn’t look much but by the end of the tour, you are full!!! If you would like to spend a few hours in Bridgetown, then I’d recommend this tour

Great historical and authentic tasting tour in main Bridgetown - Janelle was an excellent guide
We got to visit and gear about Barbados' historical influences in its staple foods - from Scotland, Ireland, west Africa and the indigenous people - this was truly insightful and fascinating.

Marc fromTalia Taxis (do friendly and warm) picked me up from my hotel and dropped me off at the starting point of the tour in Bridgetown and from the very start, we learned so much about the history of the city.

We walked into the main bustling commercial hub, stopping and eating taster style meals from authentic, local, long established eateries.

My faves were the coo-coo, meat rolls, the fish cakes and organically blended sorrell drink from Lion's stall!

Janelle was very knowledgeable and always on hand to answer any questions.

The tour ended on a high at the chocolate factory, where we all had a few scoops of the delicious ice cream which was made on site.

I would highly recommend the tour to anyone who would like to know more about Barbados' history and food culture. This is a great way to dip in.

Taste the History of Barbados

Simply outstanding experience. Janelle is a true professional, self-made Barbados historian and natural storyteller. That said, the food is authentic and delicious; it’d all be extremely difficult to discover for yourself. 10/10 would recommend.

Fun morning around Bridgetown with Janelle
Oct. 2021
Janelle was our tour guide and she was very knowledgeable about her island's history, culture, and food. We walked around downtown Bridgetown making several stops at Bajan restaurants, eateries, and bakeries, and then also visited the outdoor and indoor markets. The fruit market was wonderful. Bring your appetite, there is a lot of food!

Fantastic tour with lots of delicious food!
Oct. 2021 • Couples
We absolutely loved the tour. Paulette was so knowledgeable about the city and gave us some fascinating insights into the history and current affairs of Barbados, as well as showing us some fabulous local food spots including restaurants, bakeries, street food, a fruit market, and the most delicious ice cream you’ll ever taste. Definitely don’t eat anything beforehand, as you will eat a lot!
