- esL9936BI0 contributionsGlass bottom cruise delightGevey and Jesse showed us the beauty of Bermuda's vibrant waters. They both made the excursion enjoyable. The day couldn't have been more beautiful. If Devey and Jesse conjured the weather, it wouldn't surprise me.Written 7 December 2024

- dwdtrip0 contributionsStill a lot of fun, even on a cool windy day in November! We did the combo shipwreck and snorkle tour in mid November 2024 (11/14/24). The air temp was in the mid 60s and the water temp 72. It was also windy. But once in the water it was ok, chilly, but still fun. We had to not go to the reef 6 miles out due to the rough water, but the alternative location had tons of fish and was sheltered. The crew was fun, very friendly, gave out local ginger beer soda (similar to ginger ale) and they made rum punch. The glass bottom was interesting too. I recommend them! Even if cold and rough they will make it work. (No pictures, I kept my phone put away). Oh, you could get out of the wind and sun on the boat we took, it was big, had an exposed upper deck and enclosed lower deck, two bathrooms, an open bow, an easy ladder and deck into the water. We booked them through Norwegian, we were on the Breakaway ship. Also, when they gathered us up on the cool and windy pier, I give them great credit for saying if you wanted to not go, you could get a full refund. We almost didn't go due to the temperature and wind, but I am glad we opted to still go. We will do them again.Written 18 November 2024

When I mentioned that the hospitality at all of the other islands that I have visited was far superior, she literally scoffed and told me that "this is how we do it in Bermuda", like she was representing the culture as proud to be nasty and rude. This excursion was the mostly highly anticipated one of our trip and it did not disappoint.
We were picked up close to our cruise ship (we booked this on our own) and after a short walk boarded our boat.
Had a lovely view of the sunset as we sailed out to where the Bermuda Triangle (or as the locals like to call it Devil's Triangle) begins.
We then all gathered around the two glass bottom openings on the main deck, they put on the spots lights and we circled around a shipwreck. Very cool. As were the fish that were swimming under the boat. Must admit, I found the sea cucumbers a bit creepy.
After we had our fill of gazing at the shipwreck, they offered us rum sizzles ($4) and soft drinks. We sat up on the boat of the boat and watched the lights as we sailed back to the harbor.
If you have mobility issues, you may not be able to reach the upper deck of the ship.
Wonderful way to spend the evening.

I really enjoyed this tour! The boat was in good condition in my opinion, and the Captain and host were very warm, educational, and entertaining. I think that the staff did a wonderful job of engaging with a difficult crowd, as about 3/4's of the individuals on our tour were in the same party and were very disrespectful and frankly rude to both the hosts and other passengers. PLEASE read the description carefully; there is a steep ramp to walk up/down the dock and you HAVE to be able to step aboard the boat and then climb a set of stairs INDEPENDENTLY to the upper level of the boat. The tour was a nice mix of Bermuda education, jokes, history and local myths/legends; the host had a strong knowledge of both the fish (I believe he said he was a fisherman by trade) and the coral. Our group was able to spend about 5 minutes looking at the exposed shipwreck, which the crew was able to light up for us as it was pitch black by the time we got there.

I had done a similar excursion about 10 years ago and was underwhelmed. With lower expectations, I enjoyed it a lot.
The guide, Zoe, was a good storyteller and definitely did not overpromise what we would see. It helps to understand that the coral in Bermuda is not colorful like in more tropical areas - it's basically all brown. And those wooden shipwrecks from colonial days have long ago been eroded away, so what you're going to see is an ironclad ship at best from maybe 100 years ago or so.
Note that the cruise ships charge $119 for this compared to the rate shown on this site. And as noted in another review - it gets cold at night.
So you get a little history, see some coral, see an unspectacular wreck, but it was an enjoyable experience due to the guide.

The tour guide’s jokes were condescending, and his attitude put a damper on the experience. Furthermore, we barely saw any shipwreck apart from one that was artificially sunk 15 years ago. Really deceiving and not worth the money.
P.S no visible lifejackets on board, and they were never pointed out to us

Hi Alexander!
Thanks so much for taking the time to leave feedback on your experience with us. I would first like to state that there is no shipwreck that we go to that was sunk 15 years ago - the shipwreck we visit on every glass bottom tour is that of the HMS Vixen, which was sunk 126 years ago. She is a real-life shipwreck with an interesting back story, which the guide describes during the glass-bottom portion of the tour. The wreck's photos and her name are used fairly extensively in advertising and tour descriptions, so I certainly don't think this could be described as deceiving! If you have never seen a real shipwreck before, it can sometimes be quite different to the image you have in your head - however our Vixen is very much the real thing and quite popular with our guests!
I am terribly sorry that you didn't have a good experience with one of our two tour guides. You did not specify which of the two it was, but your captain Sonny is a veteran of over 40 years in the tourism industry, who tends to be wildly popular with the vast majority of our guests, and Ryan is a passionate young man who has excellend in his first year with us. That being said, everyone's tastes are different and we are regretful that you did not enjoy their sense of humour.
We certainly do not have our lifejackets laying out in view of tourists on a regular tour. They are stowed away neatly in an accessible storage area. The tour guide does mention that we have lifejackets and where they are located, but we do not get them out unless they are needed. In the case of the boat you were on, they are located in two storage hatches upstairs in front of the captain's and mate's seats, as well as in a large hatch behind the bar downstairs.
We hope you enjoyed the rest of your time in Bermuda, and we hope to see you again sometime soon!
Thanks,

It was an exceptional tour. Zoe and Lauren were perfect hosts providing us with a running commentary about Bermuda, its history and the Bermuda Triangle stories. We were able to see a lot of the wrecks near the harbor even though I thought that we might get into a traffic jam with three different boats trying to get into that space. But they handled it easily. Zoe was a great guide having a lot of knowledge of the area and giving it to our group in an easily understandable manner. We signed up for this through NCL since we had credits and thought this would be a good tour with a multi-generational group of 12. I would highly recommend this tour.

Relaxing, informative, fun way to spend an evening. Maybe next time the sunset won’t be hidden behind the clouds. The glass bottom boat provided a view of the fish swimming through a shipwreck. The Bermuda Triangle is spooky after dark

The boat was not as accommodating as we expected. Limited seating and small viewing area for glass bottom panels. The crew was inexperienced at the entertainment and narration we expected. The sound system was inadequate. On the plus side, the captain was a skilled operator and navigator. He positioned us over and around the wrecks very capably. Our boat was Coral Princess. There are several other boats in Capt Kirks fleet so check them out in person before making a reservation. Oh and I almost forgot. The Rum swizzle was small and nothing special.

Hi Scott,
Thanks for taking the time to provide this valued feedback. However, I think a couple of the things you are alleging do deserve a closer look! The Coral Princess has a capacity of 100, and can snorkel or glassbottom 60 comfortably. However, we have our night glass bottom tour set at a maxiumum of 40 guests on that boat to improve guest experience. With that said, it seems hard to imagine that there could have been limited seating or too small of a viewing area. As you said, each of our boats is somewhat different, so perhaps you had seen photos of another of our boats and were expecting a slightly different layout.
I am also a bit confused over your feelings on our sound system, as Coral Princess has a sound system that can even play music for loud parties, and is therefore more than adequate for spoken commentary.
I'm sorry if the complimentary Rum Swizzle was not to your taste. It certainly is a bit sweet for some! However, it is served in a standard 9oz cup and I would anecdotally say is enjoyed by over 90% of our guests.
We have had a couple of newer employees onboard lately, as with staff shortages in a post-Covid world we have certainly had our challenges in that regard! I would like to apologise if you felt that their commentary was not yet up to snuff. Although they are trying their best, it is certainly true that someone who has just started the job this year is not going to be as polished as one who has been in the industry for some time.
Finally, thank you for your compliments on Dylan's skill as a captain! He is very talented.
We hope that you will consider giving our company a try again on your next time in Bermuda - perhaps a different type of tour would be more suited to you. Please contact us at info@kirksadventures.com if you would like to discuss options for your next trip!
Thanks!

One of the highlights of our trip so far! Even my grumpy hard to please teen said he enjoyed it. Booked online and the boat is right near the cruise ship dock so it was very easy. We had the 8pm cruise and it was still light enough to sightsee on the way to the shipwreck. Once at the shipwreck they gave a great history of the location and we saw fish and coral through the glass bottom. On the way back we cruised to music and a free beverage. All stores close very early around this area so I am very happy I booked this so we could maximize our time here.

I enjoyed the cruise and the view of the sunset on the boat. Unfortunately, the viewing area was very difficult to see anything or there was much to see. I felt that the overall tour didnt really capture what it intended to and not good for the money.
The captain Zoe and Lauren were great hosts and were good at providing info.

Good afternoon,
Thanks for taking the time to provide a review, and for your compliments regarding most of the tour experience. I would like to apologise if you feel that the tour as a whole was not worth your money - unfortunately, we cannot predict or control conditions such as visibility or what fish/nocturnal creatures show up on the night. These conditions can change in the blink of an eye and are difficult to plan around. We do our best to make every tour the best possible, and we appreciate that you noticed our efforts to do so.
Thank you again for coming out with us and for giving us this feedback, and we hope that the next time you are in Bermuda you will give the Bermuda Triangle Twilight Cruise another chance!

The boat and crew were excellent and entertaining but we drove right into a rain storm that ruined the night. The rain blew into the upper deck where we were. My husband is not steady on his feet and uses a cane so we stayed up above while everyone else went down below. We stayed wet and cold for the majority of the trip. Down below where the glass bottom was there was no place to sit with everyone down there and that made it uncomfortable to try and see anything thru the glass. I'm sorry this review isn't happier but weather was the main factor. When we got back to the ship it hadn't even rained there.

Good afternoon,
Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a review and we are sorry you did not enjoy your tour with us due to the unexpected rain. Unfortunately, for your tour on August 22nd, the sky and the radar was entirely clear when our evening tours left the dock. Upon arrival at the glass-bottom site 30 minutes later, a small rain cloud developed exactly upon that site. As you correctly noted, it was not raining anywhere else on the island during the duration of the tour. As our tour is tied to that particular site, and the rain developed during the tour, it unfortunately would have been literally impossible to forsee or prevent this unfortunate occurrence.
All of our glass bottom boats have seating downstairs, and crew check to ensure that guests who require a seat or who need help to get downstairs are accommodated appropriately. We are so sorry that you and your husband remained upstairs in the rain - our staff would have been thrilled to help if asked! We are thrilled that you otherwise found the boat and crew to be excellent and sorry that the unexpected weather was such a detractor for you. We hope that next time you are in Bermuda, you will try another one of our tours so that you can experience Bermuda's beauty in better conditions!
Thanks,
Zoe

I would like to know what kind of boat this is and if there is seating on board. Thanks
Written 4 June 2018
The seating is rows of plastic outdoor chairs - I'm not kidding! When the destination is reached, everyone goes down below for viewing. You are leaning against plywood bottomless boxes, waist high, looking down about ten feet below. Not much to see - NOTHING like vibrant colors of daytime snorkeling. Big disappointment.
