Along the way, your tour guide will introduce you to what you will soon be experiencing in Hakone. Although Hakone is only one hundred km from Tokyo, Hakone is part of the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park and is known for its natural beauty. It is famous for its hot springs (onsen) and stunning views of the iconic volcano, Mount Fuji. After arriving, you will visit Hakone Gora Park and walk the Old Tokaido Road along Lake Ashi. Included in your tour is the Owakudani Ropeway with the view of the volcanic activity at the Boiling Valley and Mt Fuji, as well as cruising Lake Ashi on a Pirate Ship in good weather. Other optional activities include Gora Park’s Tea Ceremony in a Japanese garden, Hakone Open Air Museum with Picasso Gallery, cruising Lake Ashi with a two body modern ship and a rope way to the top of Mt. Koma, Narukawa Art Museum with a good view of Mt. Fuji and to see Japanese paintings, or a public hot bath at an onsen (hot spring). Spend the day visiting as many of these locations as you would like and marvel at the natural beauty of Hakone before returning on your train to Tokyo. The tour ends just before dinner time when the train arrives in Tokyo. Bid farewell to your tour guide after returning to Shinjuku Station.
      • Peak Seasons: There are many peak seasons in Hakone, but it is especially busy during Autumn as Hakone is one of the most beautiful locations of Japan to view autumn foliage. During peak season, there will be heavy traffic on the roads and may take two to three times the duration to travel between locations by bus at Hakone. Other peak holidays include Golden Week (May 6th to 27th), the Obon Holidays (August 11th to 20th), and the New Year Holidays (December 28th – January 6th).

Ideally, it should be 3 months before your travel date, or 1 month before the travel date at the very least. For Custom Tour bookings that are requested with less than 7 days before the travel date, we may not be able to arrange your custom tour in time so your booking request may be cancelled and you will receive a full refund.
      • Why am I charged a service fee if I make a cancellation after you started planning the trip?

Once we receive your booking and your answers from the Custom Tour form, we will begin putting together your Itinerary Sheet and will start arranging your tour guide, buying tickets, making reservations at venues for your tour, etc.
      • If you cancel the tour any time after we have sent you the custom Itinerary Sheet, the service fee of 15% of your total tour cost will be nonrefundable.
      • If your cancellation falls within the fees applied to the Standard Cancellation Policy, the service fee of 15% will no longer take effect. You will only be responsible for the cancellation fee specified in the Standard Cancellation Policy. Please carefully review the terms and conditions specified on the checkout page.
      • Although this is a private tour, the tour guide will only wait for you for up to 30 minutes of start time before the tour is cancelled

A Two-Day Tour with Ryokan Stay
This was my first time in Hakone, and the two-day tour was well-organized from start to finish! Staying in a ryokan was a fantastic way to immerse ourselves in Japanese culture. The second day was free for exploration, but our guide's detailed instructions made it easy to navigate Hakone on our own. Highly recommended!

        My Customized Hakone Journey
I decided to book the 2-day Hakone tour because I wanted to see Mount Fuji and explore other places in the area. Hakone is a beautiful place that not too far from Tokyo and I was very happy with the tour, which was designed to meet my interests. Our tour guide was very friendly and humorous and the driver was so solf and kind. Mount Fuji was the highlight of the trip. We had stunning views of the mountain from several different places, including Lake Ashi, and Owakudani. We also visited a hot spring resort ourselves in the second day. The Hakone tour from Japan Awaits was well-organized and informative, and it exceeded my expectations. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who is interested in seeing Mount Fuji and exploring the beautiful Hakone region.

Our tour guide,Azusa, was fantastic. A very knowledgeable woman who spoke very good English. She was fun to be with, and the sites we saw were exactly what we wanted. The tour was exceedingly well planned, down to the last minute, yet we never felt rushed.

What incredible customer service! Ever since I first inquired about the Hakone tour with this company, they have been very professional and helpful throughout the whole process. They were very fast in responding to all my emails and questions and I can't believe how accommodating they were to my big family. We had to make many changes because of my son who needs many naps during the day. And Eri, the tour guide was the best guide I have ever had and I am so glad that we had her taking us around Hakone. She helped us customize the tour and make changes along the way and everything ran smoothly that day because of her. We really enjoyed this tour even if it was exhausting bring a 3-year-old child with us.

It was a wonderful day tour to Mount Fuji, Lake Ashi and Hakone Park. We were in awe of the beauty of Mount Fuji especially that we get to experience snow.

We went to the Lake to see the wonders from afar and we were still in awe of its beauty.

We were able to book our tour at the Odawara train station. The ladies speak excellent English (Educated in Sydney, Australia). Told us what was available and the timeframe, etc. The only down side was that the train from Odawara was not running due to track repair but a bus was available and it turned out just fine. Beautiful scenery, the views of Mt Fuji, the "Pirate" ship ride to Hakone was worth the whole trip.
