Kyoto tour guide with private car
Wonderful day tour with tour guide, Andy M! We also had a private driver. Our guide was quite knowledgeable and took us to all our wish list sites. We wanted to add on the Arashiyama Monkey Park and we were able to change our schedule around a little bit. At the end of our tour, we wanted to shop in a nearby area and Andy was able to have us dropped off there. Even tho our tour was over, Andy was going to show us around the shopping area but we said it was ok and he could go home. Thanx, Andy! We had a great time. 2 adults and 2 kids (17/21)

12/28 Nara guided tour with Junichi!
12/29/24. Amazing tour of Nara with Junichi! He was a wonderful guide. We had just arrived in Japan on 12/27 and Junichi gave us specific train schedule from our hotel to meet him at the Nara station. We stayed connected with WhatsApp. We had a wish list and he gave us a detailed itinerary. We were able to switch up a couple things because we wanted to spend more time feeding and bowing with the deer. lol. He was fluent in English and very knowledgeable about all the sites. At the end of our trip, we wanted to go shop in a nearby area and he gave us recommendations for different shops to go to. I would totally recommend Junichi as a guide! I realize you can just walk around the area on your own but having all the history told to you as you walk by is amazing! Thanks, Junichi! ❤️. Family of 4 with 2 adults, 17 and 21 year old boys.

          Highly recommend Kaeko
We were so lucky to have had Kaeko as our guide for our day in Osaka. She met us at our hotel in Kyoto with a smile and went by train with us to Osaka for the day. Could not have hoped for anyone better to show us the sites! Highly recommend Kaeko

          Great tour
We had an amazing day. Our guide was an experienced traveler and local guide. Couldn’t have gotten any more in one day. The museum and Peace Park are a lot to take in.

          Efficient and good
Hiro San was very informative and efficient in how we got around Kyoto. In addition to the great sites of Kyoto he brought us to all the places for shopping (utensils, tea and spices). Great day out

          8 hour Kyoto tour
We were a family of 5 from Austin,Tx and wanted to learn about the all the modes of transportation in and around Kyoto. We took a 8 hour tour on our first day in Kyoto. I selected 4 sites(as recommended for this duration). A 5th site was suggested, but we felt rushed in the beginning so I chose to remove the extra site. It is important to communicate with your guide along the way, if you want to slow down or do a little shopping at the site you need to ask. While we did learn a little about the train system, we were discouraged about using the busses. We had to take the initiative to ask our guide questions about getting around, he actually made us worry for a while as to wether or not we could do this on our own.

          Lovey day with Fumiko
Fumiko is a very warm and sweet lady. She has reached out right after the booking confirmation, and worked patiently with me on the itinerary. During the tour, she was very accommodating and sensitive to the kids’ needs ( 2 teenagers and an 8 year old). She even gave the them candies at the end of our tour, which they really appreciated. We enjoyed her company, and the kids loved her!

          Excellent Tours with Yama!
I highly recommend Yama and the Japan Guide Agency for private tours of Kobe and Osaka. He tailored the tours based on my interests and did an excellent providing options and finalizing an itinerary well in advance of our meeting. Kobe is an easy train ride from Osaka and there is so much to see. There is no substitute for having a local show you around their hometown. My tours were informative, enjoyable, and exactly the experience I was looking for when I booked a local guide. Yama does an excellent job taking pictures and providing recommendations for restaurants and activities. He is also a genuinely nice guy. The Japan Guide Agency reservation process was efficient, and I received a confirmation within a few minutes of booking. A true 5 star experience.

          Amazing tour
We could get a taste of Kanazawa and its beauties with our guide, Shoten, who showed us and explained Japanese culture. He organized a fantastic lunch where we discovered Yuba! Without a doubt, the experience with the guide enriched our trip! Thanks Shoten. Adriana and family

Taka gracefully led us through the Itsukushima Jinja shrine and island on new years
Taka was such a great host, he made the whole experience. From the friendly conversation, to knowledge about the island and Japan, to guiding the tour and adapting efficiently through the day. Taka was kind, humble, knowledgeable and easy to get a long with. The sights and the island were unbelievable as well, worth the effort. New years made it an extra challenge but was really glad to see the hussle and bussle of the island during the holidays. Taka was also great to stop and take some photos for us in the right spots. All around amazing tour led by a great host

It was the best decision ever to go on the tour with Yuko. We were very lucky to have her as our guide and Hiroshima host! We thoroughly enjoyed the day and will be forever grateful for the opportunity to learn of Hiroshima from such a local and passionate person! Yuko is attentive, professional and friendly. Also she gave us tips and recommendations for the reminder of our trip. We recommend this experience with Yuko 1000%

Poor experience Off the Beaten Path in Tokyo
Off the Beaten Path meant a short walk through a north Tokyo residential area with some small temples; not very impressive or interesting. Kei’s English is as mediocre as his guiding skills (certainly not the level one would expect from an individual who studied at a Master’s level in Oxford?). He offered very little regarding art, architecture, history, food and culture. We hate to give anyone a poor review but we feel that we were taken advantage of and we want to warn other visitors to Tokyo.

          Perfect private Kyoto tour
My tour guide Andy Murao was incredible. I gave him some basic ideas of what I was interested in and he made an amazing itinerary for our day. He even included some time for a delicious Japanese meal in between sites. He was extremely knowledgeable on anything I asked him about and was very fun to spend the day with. Five stars!

          An informative and moving experience
We highly recommend this tour. Our guide, Yuko is a proud local with a deep knowledge of Hiroshima's history and as a former English teacher, a great command of conversational English. An informative and very moving 4 hour experience.

Excellent 1/2 day tour in Kyoto (main sights as well as some lesser known spots)
My wife and I were in Kyoto for the New Year and were looking for a tour thankfully Kazu Akiyama was available. Kazu worked with us pre-tour to ensure we maximized our time while taking into account what we specifically wanted to see. Then on the tour, Kazu did a great job explaining the history while also leading us through some of the less visited areas of the sights which was key since was during prime tourism season in Japan. All in all, we could not have been more happy, 100%. Thank you again Kazu.

Minoru was an excellent guide. A month before we arrived in Tokyo, he asked what we wanted to see and planned an itinerary for us to review and approve. He provided details including admission/public transportation costs associated with the itinerary. He also suggested a very good local restaurant for lunch that we would have never found on our own - it was an excellent experience. Minoru was very knowledgeable and spoke very good English. Also provided a lot of information about Japanese culture/customs, subway system, restaurants, etc. that was very useful when we toured on our own on the following days.

During our first day in Tokyo, Mari Noda was able to take us to visit and explore the Meiji-Jingu Shrine & Gardens, visit the Shibuya Area & SKY observation deck, stroll through the Harajuku area, and ended our half day tour at the Imperial Palace, former Edo Castle and Imperial gardens. Mari Noda was knowledgeable, energetic and accommodating in building our itinerary. Thank you for a great introduction to Tokyo!

We visited Tokyo with a party of six (my husband and I, our two kids, and my parents) and were looking for an authentic, low-stress walking tour experience with a local expert. Our guide, Yumi, fully delivered! She was extremely flexible as we adjusted the plan to meet our young children’s needs, ensuring that they didn’t get too tired and had plenty of time in the places they were most excited about (in our case, the Pokémon Center and Nintendo flagship store in Shibuya Parco). She helped us navigate the Metro subway and also brought some wonderfully personal touches — she wrote everyone’s name in Japanese characters and explained the meaning, helped us understand the fortunes we had received at the Senso-ji temple in Asakusa the previous day, and even brought handmade origami for the kids! We had a lovely time learning from her cultural expertise and knowledge of Tokyo and are very grateful for her guidance. We would definitely recommend this tour to any family looking for a more personal experience with this beautiful but sometimes overwhelming city.

Thank you so much for your kind review. I am quite happy to know you have fully enjoyed the tour. It was so impressive day because Your family members were so curious about Japanese culture, and asked me a lot of things. So we could talk about many things naturally. We walked a long distance, but we had so much fun that we forgot about our fatigue. Lovely children, kind parents and elegant grand parents,I already miss your family. Please come to Japan again. Michio was an excellent guide - we only had a few hours and managed to fit in the Fish Markets, Senso-ji Temple and Tokyo sky tower. We had lunch at a traditional Japanese restaurant (sitting on the floor) and loved the cultural experience. Without him we couldn’t have ordered the variety of dishes for each person. He organised our train passes and facilitated our movements with ease even with the 6 of us tagging along. Highly recommend.

This tour was the highlight of our stay in Tokyo. Our guide, Kiyoka was wonderful she showed us how to buy and use a Suica card and how to navigate the train system including how to find our way back to our hotel from Shibuya Station. Kiyoka had contacted us by email before we left home and we had worked out an itinerary which included Cherry Blossom viewing. Kiyoka had suggested Shibuya Sky as an Observation Deck because it was close to our hotel. She took us up to the 45th floor where we had good views over Tokyo and she took pictures of us up there as well as pointing out various landmarks. We then caught the trains to Shinjuku Gyoen Gardens and Kiyoka guided us to the entrance with the best Cherry Blossom display. Unfortunately it began to rain while we were there but it didn't dampen our spirits and we walked through the garden. As we were talking I mentioned that my daughter would like us to bring her matcha tea home, so Kiyoka took us to a Department Store where we could buy good quality matcha. Kiyoka was a very considerate and capable guide who tailored our tour to meet our needs and my husbands walking ability.

We had the pleasure of having Taku as our guide for this tour. We booked weeks in advance from Australia and he made contact instantly. Taku arranged a few options of tours with us prior to our visit and we were able to investigate and decide which best suited us. Communication prior to arrival, he provided us with tips to purchase certain tickets before leaving airport and what we really needed before arriving - for example, certain rail tickets, water bottles, a towel (because it was soooo hot!) which was really helpful. We booked a tour on our first day in Tokyo. Taku met us in the foyer on the hotel. We had to pivot our original tour ideas as my son had a migraine. We did not purchase the correct tickets at the airport the night before, so he ended up taking us back to Haneda airport during our tour to purchase the tickets (as he said, you will need these tickets all through Japan - so best to get them on your first day) We all had to go back to the airport (which a child with a migraine) via train to do this. We got the tickets (Taku helped us efficiently do this) and went back to hotel to drop off my son to sleep. The whole trip to and from airport he cared and catered to my son by ensuring he had water and a seat to sit on whilst we got tickets (and a bathroom for the effects of a migraine!) Once we got back to the hotel, the tour began! Taku was so flexible and accommodating to our needs and ended up spending most of the day with us. He took us to markets and we had a lovely meal, we went to temples, we went to the shopping districts and he escorted us back to our hotel at the end of the day! He was a gentleman! I cannot rate this tour highly enough and having Taku as your guide, you will not be disappointed! As a family who just arrived in Japan, he gave us the confidence to navigate the train system, gave us insights into have how to line up for trains, and generally fit in like a local. He could not have made the tour more personal to our needs. I really appreciated his care for my family! Thank you Taku.

My guide was so friendly, and I loved how easily we were able to strike up conversation! When he showed me around, he provided interesting insight of name meanings for different stops, significance of certain artifacts, and history lessons, without overwhelming me with information. I also appreciated his side jokes! I’d definitely recommend him and JGA for anyone who wants a more unique, personal experience of Japan!!

Thank you very much for your wonderful review. Although it was in the middle of the rainy season, the weather was fine thanks to you. The places we visited, Asakusa, Kokyo Gaien or Imperial Outer Garden and Tsukiji are popular destinations for foreign visitors. I hope you could enjoy each one of them. Thank you again for your choosing this tour and I hope you would enjoy the rest of the trip. Tatsu

We had two days in Tokyo. After exploring Shinjuku by ourselves the first day, we decided to hire someone for the second day. Koji was our guide and he emailed me quickly to determine what we were interested in seeing. We decided on the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building Observatory, Shibuya Crossing, and Meiji Jinju shrine. We explained that we wanted to experience the train system, too, since we had heard so much about it.

Koji arrived at our hotel a few minutes early to pick us up and get started. He was very interesting and knowledgeable about the various sights. He lead us through the various train stations to get from place to place. That was amazing by itself!

Koji also made sure that we enjoyed the experience, adding history and pointing out interesting facts about each stop. We finished up at Takeshita Street before heading back to the hotel.

It was a great day, time and money well spent!

Thank you for your great review! It was a 4 hours short trip, but we had a wonderful time together in Tokyo. I would appreciate if you have a chance to come to Japan again and visit many beautiful places. Koji

Takashi was our family’s amazing tour guide during a short stay in Tokyo. Because it was Golden Week, and our tour was on Children’s Day, it was even busier then normal but Takashi deftly navigated that challenge with professionalism and good humor. He provided an educational and culturally insightful approach to the day and treated us with such kindness that I would give my most heartfelt recommendation to anyone seeking a guide to this busy and complex to navigate city. He made it pain free, picking us up in the lobby of the Royal Park Plaza Tokyo Hotel in Nihonbashi. Before the tour, via email, he asked what were interested in seeing and built a perfectly timed tour of the sites that made the best use of the allotted time. We were open to suggestions of course and he made some great ones too. We ended the day treating him to light lunch as we were so grateful for his kindness and attentiveness. Our end of day conversation will remain one of my fondest memories of our stay in Japan. Takashi is a gem and Trip Advisor made it so easy!

Our adventure at Tsukiji market and Asakusa with Andy was simply great! With our 8-year-old in tow, Andy showed remarkable patience and adaptability, even ensuring breaks for drinks and rest, making it an enjoyable experience for our entire family. Navigating via trains was seamless, sparing us potential confusion and time lost had we ventured alone. Throughout the tour, Andy shared intriguing insights about the areas that we might have otherwise overlooked without a knowledgeable guide. Andy was also kind enough to bring us to the train station to the Railway Musuem.

Thank you very much for your wonderful review. Your son is so friendly and smart that it felt like I was playing with my nephew. He also had a strong curiosity and appetite, which made me smile. I'm sorry that you couldn't eat the eel rice balls that you were looking forward to. Please try it next time you come to Japan. Andy
