- CoronadoGaggle0 contributionsSpectacular Scenery, Exceptional Guide! We’ve just returned from a wondrous 10 day visit to Taiwan, beginning with a 2 day trip with Willy Chiu…amazing! After an overnight flight from San Francisco, he cheerfully greeted us as at the airport for a tour of the East Coast. He was incredibly kind, informative, and generous…we feel like we made a friend! Heading down the coast, he found us a private Hot Springs room in Jiaoxi… a relaxing, and wonderful way to freshen up. He then brought us to a very local restaurant and helped us select seafood to have custom prepared. Such a fun lunch with him and our first Taiwanese beer! It was onward to Hualein Culture Park…fascinating history, neat local shops, and our first bubble tea:) At Yolo’s suggestion, we stayed at the Lakeshore Hotel in Hualein…lovely. We headed to the Dongdamen night market for our first taste of street food…such a yummy adventure. In the morning enjoyed the hotel’s incredible breakfast buffet. Willy then picked us up and we headed to Qixingtan Beach…my, what a beautiful coast! We were both Navy and he’s an aviation enthusiast so we watched the F-16’s takeoff from the adjacent airbase as he shared his incredible knowledge. Really special and he left us with a priceless souvenir, a squadron patch! From there, we headed to Suao to tour a beautiful temple and have another delicious local seafood lunch. It was on to Kavalan distillery for whiskey tasting. We cannot believe he fit so much into our short two days. Willy was so generous with this time and we’d never felt rushed. (It should be noted that Taroko Gorge is closed after the massive April earthquake. It may be quite some time before it reopens, and while we missed visiting there, with Willy, this East Coast trip was most definitely worth it!) You absolutely could not do better than a tour with Willy. We were fortunate to take a different trip toward the end of our time in Taiwan with another amazing Yolo colleague, Ben (We will post a separate review of our time with him...) Yolo did an excellent job suggesting places for our adventure and options for hotels, and their communication was above and beyond what one would expect. However, their real gift is that they’ve managed to find the most amazing tour guides. We feel so blessed that we were connected with Willy!Written 18 January 2025

- 76wendyi0 contributionsGreat first day in Taipei! From start to finish my tour guide was Vincent Lee was just awesome. He was on time to pick me up at my hotel. The day was planned so well to let me see additional places that was a bonus to me. He was very knowledgeable about each place and gave me instructions where to go or stand for best pictures or getting around each stop. This made things run much smoother with some crowds due to locals and some tourist preparing for Chinese new year. I wanna thank Vincent again for making my 1st day in Taipei such a beautiful experience. I would automatically book another tour with him and recommend him to anyone.Written 18 January 2025
- Linda K0 contributionsFull Day Tour, Okay. The tour was good but a little on the expensive side. Shawn was very nice. I choose this tour because limited time and they offered hotel pick up.Written 16 January 2025
- Kristinejeane_dv0 contributionsA Fantastic Day with Vincent Lee – Highly Recommended!Today’s sightseeing tour was an absolute delight, all thanks to Vincent Lee, our guide. From the moment we started, his energy, enthusiasm, and deep knowledge made the experience unforgettable. We explored the beautiful city of Taipei and each stop was carefully planned and executed with plenty of time to soak in the sights. Vincent shared fascinating stories and historical insights that added so much depth to the experience. What really stood out was his attentiveness and flexibility. Whether it was answering our endless questions or suggesting the perfect spot for photos, he truly went above and beyond. He also gave us good restaurant recommendations which we couldn’t wait to try. This tour not only showcased the beauty of the area but also offered a unique perspective, thanks to Vincent’s passion and expertise. If you’re looking for a memorable and enriching experience, I highly recommend booking a tour with him. 5/5 stars – Thank you, Vincent, for a day to remember!Written 16 January 2025
- jessymi2070 contributionsVery joyful trip!!Our family visited Taiwan for the first time last November. Based on the online review, we selected Yolo Taiwan for driver-guide tours, and we are very satisfied. We booked three tours, customized Taipei tour with Jackson as driver-guide, Northern Taiwan tour with Vincent Hsu, and 3-day Sun Moon Lake and Alishan tour with Aaron Chang. Two days before the trip date, the Yolo office sent me the driver and car info. I contacted the driver directly via WhatApp to let them know my starting time and trip plans. They responded to my message promptly. The cars are all spacious for six of us. All three driver-guides are so friendly and have a super driving skills, especially on the mountain road, very smooth. They not only accommodated our plan, but also made suggestions accordingly and recommended local food along the way. We had such a great time in Taiwan and will visit again in the future. The trip would not be so joyful without those three guides. They truly represents the Taiwanese characters of friendliness and hospitality. We would highly recommend Yolo Taiwan to all travelers. 我们非常满意这次台湾之旅,yolo司机导游,Jackson, Vincent Hsu, 和Aaron Chang的热情接待与陪同使我们更加享受在台湾的行程,让我们可以非常轻松的享受美景与美食Written 15 January 2025

- Vanessa66880 contributionsExcellent private tour in TaiwanWe had an 8-hour tour to Yeuliu, Jeufin and Shifen yesterday. Our tour guide Steven Huang from YOLO was wonderful. He took us to the places we wanted to visit plus more since we were ahead of schedule. What made Steven stand out were his pleasant manner, humor, and knowledge. From booking to the end of the tour, YOLO and Steven communicated well and kept us informed. I would highly recommend YOLO and Steven Huang to be your tour guide.Written 6 January 2025

- shainaf20160 contributionsPersonable and Knowledgeable GuideThis tour was an excellent way to be able to see Taipei city on your own terms within a short time frame. My guide and driver was more than happy to answer my million questions about Taiwan and he was happy to adapt to my schedule (sometimes I just wanted to drive by a location rather than stop and get out). My only complaint is that I wish there had been two of him (one to drive/park and one to guide). Sometimes I had to go alone to locations as we were unable to find parking. Which is not his fault at all, but it would have been nice to be able to ask him questions about certain things or have him take my picture at certain locations. If I were not solo travelling this would have been less of an issue. All and all though I feel that I got my moneys worth.Written 5 January 2025
- williamgU9784IQ0 contributions5 ⭐️ - Loved itShifen and Juifen old town were very scenic and beautiful. Great for photography and the lantern painting and lighting was a great experience. The tour provides an excellent trip outside of Taipei for a break from the city. Our tour guide Alex was friendly and passionate and told us loads about the history of the area and Taiwan’s rich culture and history. Would definitely recommend for anyone in Taipei for a few days to see a bit more of the region than just the city.Written 5 January 2025

We just spent an excellent day atTaroko Gorge National Park. We visited the main attractions, had a few short walks, and enjoyed the scenery and views. Our guide, Vincent Lee, has done an outstanding job accommodating our priorities, constraints, and ever changing weather conditions. We greatly appreciate his "custom" private tour and strongly recommend the company and Vincent Lee for your future travel plans

We booked Yolo Taiwan twice for our day trip to Taroko Gorge and Yang Ming Shan National Park / Shifen Waterfall.
Our guide Mr Ted Chiang is friendly and knowledgeable. He cater to all our need and requirement.
As we are Muslims traveller, he went out of his way to cater to our dietary needs and source for Muslim friendly/ halal restaurants and we deeply appreciated that.
As we have a toddler, he entertain our kid and watch for his safety too. Not any moment we felt pressure or rush for time. Once, we drive by and saw cherry blossoms, our guide stop by even though it’s not part of the itinerary so we can take beautifully photos.
Once again, I would recommend Yolo Taiwan and thank again Mr Ted Chiang for such a memorable experience!

This tour was absolutely excellent! Driving from Taipei to Taroko National Park is a long time, but it flew by while my driver/tour guide/photographer Jimmy explained the people, history, religion and culture of Taiwan. Be warned, it is a mountain road full of twists and turns.
The first stop was Qingshui Cliff, offering stunning views of the marble cliffs, the old cliffside road, and the Pacific Ocean. Next was the original Taroko National Park gate then into the park itself. All of the scenery along the way was enough to take my breath away, but Jimmy never passed up the perfect photo spot and offered to take as many photos as I'd like.
The myriad stops inside the Park, including Cihmu Bridge, Buluowan suspension bridge, Swallow Grotto, the Tunnel of Nine Turns, and the Martyrs Shrine are all worthwhile. You will be blown away by the awesome marble mountains and beauty of the Park.
But my favorite and most memorable part was the Baiyang waterfall. Jimmy made sure I was ready for the 4.2km roundtrip hike to Baiyang cavern waterfall by recommending a restaurant at a village in the Park. I had the most delicious pork fried rice and Taiwanese sausage! After I bought and enjoyed my lunch in the air conditioned restaurant, we started off down the multiple tunnels to get to Baiyang cavern. 2.1km may seem like a long hike one way, but I was so enraptured with the beautiful views along the way, we arrived at Baiyang cavern before I knew it. Jimmy lent me rubber sandals and a rain poncho for the trip into the cavern where I got to walk behind the waterfall! It was cool, but not cold and I had fun posing for pictures under the waterfall inside the cave. After emerging from the cavern, I got to soak my feet in the cool, clean and clear water from the mountain.
We then wrapped up the tour with a trip down to the beach where I could soak in the Pacific Ocean.

We had an early morning pick up at the W Hotel in Taipei for a party of 6, including a 7yo girl. The professional & experienced driver took us to 8 sites with Taroko Gorge and stopped within for a yummy lunch. Our guide, York, planned our site visits having plenty of time to walk trails or bridges. To ensure our safety from falling rocks w/i the cave, he stopped to pick up helmets. York brought bottled waters, ponchos, and made sure to ask if we needed restroom breaks at key stops. Overall, even if your visit to Taiwan is short, this private tour is a once in a lifetime experience!

Steven Huang was my guide. I had to pay double the posted rate since I was the only person on the trip. However, Steven was an excellent guide and the sites I saw were truly awe inspiring. The higher price was still worth it when his narration was combined with scenes of very narrow and very tall, stratified marble canyon walls. He said the Baiyang Trail was just reopened after a landslide had been cleared away a few days earlier. The Water Curtain at the end of the trail was certainly refreshing as cool spring water flowed on to you from the cave ceiling - a welcome relief from the heat of a mid-August daytime hike. Steven came prepared with rain ponchos for us.. The 12-hour tour lasted 14 instead due to high traffic volume on our way back to Taipei.

Took the full-day trip with pickup from our downtown hotel in Taipei. Communication with YOLO Taiwan and our assigned private tour guide, Steven, was excellent. Steven arrived at the appointed time and was very accommodating of our needs throughout the day.
Steven made convenience stops along the way and was attentive to our tendency to get motion sick in the car and so took care when traveling the windy mountainous roads.
Steven's English, humor and knowledge of the Taroko area and its indigenous peoples was fantastic. Steven was always there to take photos of us. We saw so much beauty along the way. Thank you, Steven, for the amazing trip and for helping us to create lasting memories of our visit to Taiwan!

Went with a group of friends to visit Taroko National Park; our tour guide was James and he was fantastic. He made sure to make us feel welcomed and was very engaging with our group. We followed an itinerary that was well planned out and got to see many beautiful view points at the park. I would highly recommend James and his Yolo Taiwan if you’re thinking about going on the tour!

Mr Wong was an an excellent guide. He was very patient and thoughtful and really committed to us having an amazing experience..
He took time to explain the context of our visit , the history, the reasons for the changes over time .
We learned a lot about the historical nature of Taiwan and the sites we visited.
We learned much about indigenous culture and mores . We got to experience and see indigenous culture first hand - food , talking etc - just outstanding experience.
Mr Wong answered all of our questions and provided a detailed guide on the journey including but not limited to geographical, historical and contextual elements .
He was very friendly and caring about our comfort and individual needs . His knowledge about where we went was excellent.
This is by far the best guide we have ever experienced.
It was a journey which we were sad had ended.
We would use Mr Wong again and again without any hesitation.
A truly outstanding experience. 5 stars .
Thank you again .

This was a fabulous way to take in some memorable sights in the Taroko National Park. Our guide Jimmy Lin was so knowledgeable, he was able to give details about the history of Taiwan and descriptions of the areas we passed as we travelled to Taroko and all in English. Jimmy was extremely helpful, had a great attitude and demonstrated that he was passionate about his role as guide. He went above and beyond what we expected. The areas we travelled to were amazing. Definitely a great experience and I would recommend it for first time visitors to Taiwan.

Caleb is a star. Took us to all the highlights of Taroko Gorge, knew all the scenic shots and helped us shoot them, shared the perfect balance of rest and storytelling on the ride there and back, and customized our trip just right, with a stop to delicious aboriginal cuisine and a sweet treat. Had us singing we love millet wine, and Taiwan by the night’s end.
We’ll be back, thanks for showing us every reason we should be, Caleb.
Lots of love for the motherland,
Steph and Sierra

Hello, I have a 8 year old with us. Can he do the walk and trek? Is it strenuous?
Also where is the pick up point? I am living in and around Taipei Main Station.
