About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- lemoneater120 contributionsGreat day trip with VincentVincent was our private driver/guide for the day. He introduced himself two days prior via WhatsApp and was prompt in picking us up. He was very friendly and accommodated our requests. The van was comfortable for the 5 of us. Even with the pouring rain/wind, Vincent was enthusiastic about taking us places, telling us about the area/history, sharing his local insights, and taking our pictures. He also took us to places with clean bathrooms which was very appreciated. Thanks to Vincent for a great day! 5 stars, highly recommend Vincent and YOLO Taiwan!Written 5 February 2025
- Z4578NMalexish0 contributionsPerfect trip!Let me start with BOOK THIS TOUR, and if you can request Nicolas! My grandmother and I had a spectacular experience. It was a private tour so it was just the two us with Nicolas. He was punctual and a safe driver. We got to see and taste so many wonderful treats. We got to see different amazing sights that Taipei has to offer. We were able to go at our own pace; Nicolas showed patience with my grandmother as we were exploring. Nicolas was so knowledgeable and welcoming—not to mention but also a great photographer. Definitely a trip worth booking.Written 5 February 2025
- brianp6480 contributionsCustomized tour with JuniorI had one full day in Taipei and wanted to be able to see the city. Junior was perfect. He whacked me around the city to all the most important sites and provided a strong factual background about Taiwan and Taipei. If you’re looking for a customized tour of the city, you can’t go wrong with this.Written 2 February 2025
- CoronadoGaggle0 contributionsExceptional!Let us begin by unequivocally stating that Ben Liao is an amazing guide! We spent two delightful days with him visiting the Alishan region…we’re so incredibly grateful for his expertise, kindness, and generosity. (Taiwan is a beautiful country and we thoroughly enjoyed our 10 day visit, but the real gift is their friendly, lovely people!) We were picked up from our Taipei hotel in a very comfortable Mercedes van that was expertly stocked… Ben had water, snacks, charging cords…the seats even had massage…you name it:) As we headed to Alishan Scenic area, we found him to be very knowledgeable and open. It was so much fun to get to know him and his country. We visited an indigenous tea plantation and snagged a bite to eat. We then walk the plantation and realize that everything we thought we knew about tea was incorrect! Incredibly interesting. He took us on his favorite hike, the Eryanping Trail up to watch the sunset above the sea of clouds. Unbelievable! He is an expert photographer and took spectacular pictures throughout our journey…perfect for savoring these memories. He then dropped us at the Hotel Indigo, suggested by Yolo…wow. (We are very grateful to Ben as we had difficulties making dinner reservations there and he was able to navigate their system:) We took full advantage of this lovely property and will post a separate review. Ben picked us up the next morning and we headed to the Alishan Forest preserve. We hiked/walked…it was a beautiful sunny day and our visit was magical. We then took the train back to the main station. Here Ben found a tea shop and we sampled the teas and bought some gifts. (We are so grateful that he was emphatic about tasting tea first before purchasing…it’s very individual and what matters is that you love it!) On our way back to Taipei he stopped at a lovely local indigenous shop that specialized in all things plum. (Plum whiskey by the way is delicious!) And then a totally unexpected surprise: He took us to Sun Moon Lake, which had not been planned, even though this extended our tour beyond the designated time.) Simply gorgeous! YOLO is an expert with suggesting itineraries, and are wonderful communicators, but their true gift is that they connect their clients with exceptional people like Ben!Written 2 February 2025

- 55karlk0 contributionsTaiwan....an amazing journeyJimmy Lin our private Tourguide was simply fantastic. He showed and told us everything in and aroundTeipei. The wonderful sights and the history of this beautiful country and lovely people. Taiwan is amazing...the South or North, everywhere we went we met wonderful people, beautiful landscapes and enjoyed the great variety of delicious food and dishes.Written 1 February 2025
- hannah12345123450 contributionsGoing above and beyondWhat an excellent way to see Taipei during a long layover! I had written that I wanted to try a specific dessert and Jimmy really went out of his way to take me there. He had the itinerary perfectly timed to see the changing of the guards and was a wealth of knowledge on the country's history - I learned a lot! Jimmy is an excellent photographer and guide, and I can't wait to return.Written 31 January 2025
- 885rossb0 contributionsA short but informative stay in Taiwan. My wife and I arrived on a cruise ship in the morning and had to catch an evening flight out. Hicks picked us up for a full day private tour. He asked "where do you want to go?". We said I don't know, we like nature and we should see some of Taipei. Ok he said and headed for Yehliu Geopark. We loved it. We are maritime people and enjoyed this park with its rock formations and the sea. Then we headed to Shifen Waterfalls. We enjoyed the walk and sightseeing. Then we headed to Taipei and the Chiang Kai Shek Memorial. A very nice site. Then to Taipei 101 for some pictures. He brought us to a cool sculpture that had the 101 as a backdrop. Then some street food - pork n leeks in a bun. Yum. Then off to the airport. Even though we didn't give Hicks much input as to what we wanted to see, he gave us a great cross section of the area and it was what we were looking for. We may have to come back to explore some more.Written 30 January 2025
- Noisylady0 contributionsOne of the best tours we’ve ever doneThis was an excellent tour. Our guide Ben couldn’t do enough for us. We had a Mercedes 7 seater for 4 and the seats were like arm chairs which also gave massages if you wanted. Ben took lots of photos of us with our friends and apart from being an excellent photographer he airdropped all of them to us. Later we received a video he had made from the photos with music. He was one of the best tour guides we have ever had and the tour was very good as well even though it poured with rain half way through.Written 26 January 2025

- RanyDanny0 contributionsTotally worth the time!If you have only a few hours in Taipei, this is it! Our guide, Jack picked us promptly and as we didn't have any special plans, he suggested an itinerary. he knows all about driving and going to the right places at the tight time, so our six hours there were fantastic! We even squeezed a visit to the crowded night market and eat delicacies! Finally, he served us as a photographer and we hadn't reached our gate when he sent us the pictures he took. Highly recommended!Written 25 January 2025
- shanjais0 contributionsExceptional Northern Taiwan Tour with a Professional and Knowledgeable GuideI had an amazing experience with this tour, and I would highly recommend it! Nicolas Ying was an outstanding guide who made the trip truly memorable. He was extremely knowledgeable about the history and culture of all the places we visited and explained everything in an engaging and clear manner. Nicolas also provided excellent guidance throughout the day, making sure we were comfortable and enjoying the tour. His friendly and professional attitude made the experience even better. If you're looking for a well-organized and enriching tour in Taiwan, this is the one to choose.Written 24 January 2025
- joycelync3530 contributionsFantastic guide!I have always wanted to visit jiufen and shifen, but public transportation to both these sites was overwhelming to figure out. Hiring Nicolas was the best choice that I made for this trip. He was extremely knowledgeable about the history of Taiwan and the history of the places we were visiting. He also pointed out all the amazing food. He also knew all the shortcuts/ prime photo locations/ and least crowded areas. Best of all, I’m a tea lover and he not only brought us to the amei tea house but he also brought us to see his long time tea shop friend who had the most delicious tea that I’ve ever tried! Would highly recommend!Written 24 January 2025

Alex was an awesome guide for us. For this particular tour, it was worth it to go private, with our guide, as there were a lot of large group tours in tight spaces, especially in Juiffen. We were able to move about more freely in the small, tight spaces being just the two of us with our guide, Alex. He was a lot of fun to be with throughout the day. Well done!

We had an incredible day exploring northern Taiwan on a private tour. The pace was perfect — efficient without feeling rushed at any of the scenic spots. Opting for the 12 PM departure allowed us to end the day with a lovely dinner in Jiufen, where we enjoyed a beautiful view of the sea and mountains from the restaurant.
Paul Yang was our guide, and he truly enhanced the experience. His patience stood out, giving us extra time whenever needed, he also captured fantastic photos at the best locations. His knowledge of Jiufen's best routes and hidden shortcuts was greatly appreciated. As someone prone to carsickness, I really appreciated Paul's smooth driving and comfortable vehicle, making the journey even more enjoyable.
Would definitely recommend the tour & Paul.

Last minute booking for a day tour of the northern part of Taiwan. I always heard of the launching of the sky lantern and very much wanted to experience that. Well, I got my wish and it was fabulous. We booked a private tour with YOLO Taiwan to Jiufen, Yehliu and Pingxi (where we launched our lantern). Our guide was a wonderful lady called Richelle. She picked us up from our hotel (ON TIME too). She spoke fluent English and provided a lot of information along the drive. I was particularly impressed with all her presentations on her iPad such as videos of the national bird of Taiwan when we actually saw one (Taiwan blue magpie), and a music video of a song named after the road we were on.
At Pingxi where we launched our lantern, Richelle drove us along some back road to avoid all the traffic. Arranged the lantern and even took videos of us launching the lantern. When we were at Jiufen, it was raining. So instead of walking in the rain, I asked if we can enjoy some tea. Richelle took us to a hidden gem of a tea house overlooking the hillside. We have to walk through a narrow tunnel to get to the tea house. Quite an experience and I doubt I would find it myself.
So in general, we have a very warmth and friendly impression of Taiwan, partially thanks to Richelle.

Our day started early at 8AM. Day prior, our driver/guide Junior Wy sent a message thru WhatsApp confirming our tour. He was at our hotel at 8AM sharp. He drove a sedan (BMW) -- a very proficient driver who drove fast but safely.
Junior took us to Yehliu Geopark, Pingxi, Shifen, and Jiufen. Today was a sunny and humid day so I appreciated his effort to show us around despite the heat. He took us to routes that weren't packed with people and was able to show us a lot of places. We walked a lot and for me that's ok since I needed to burn calories anyway. On our way back home, he drove us to Keelung City and offered to take us to any other place we might want to see.
We were back at our hotel by 3PM. Overall, this tour was very much worth our time and money. It was convenient, safe, comfortable, and so much better compared to if we joined a group tour. Junior was a good tour guide who spoke good English; was proactive; and with a great personality. 10/10 will book YOLO Taiwan again when I go back to Taipei!!

Vincent Hsu is the best of the best! Having been on many group tours, this tops the list as our favorite tour ever. Even though it was a long and tiring day with young children and older family members, our tour guide was very aware of how to handle each type of energy level and interests — ranging from chatting with the older crew to playing games with our two kids to keep them very engaged. Everything was precisely timed and he got us to a dinner punctually at 7pm even without rushing!
Best part? We didn’t have to stress about taking photos throughout the tour. Vincent takes beautiful pics and zaps them to you at the conclusion of the tour. He pours his heart into his work — you won’t be disappointed!

Our tour guide, Caleb, messaged the night before to introduce himself and provide details on our pick-up/location the following day.
On the day of, pick up was exactly on time. The private car used for our transportation was definitely luxury -- clean, comfortable seating (enough for 6 passengers), air-conditioned, and bottles of water were provided.
Caleb provided us with an overview of our day and we immediately headed out. Our first stop was Shifen Waterfall -- such lovely views and Caleb guided us to various locations which provided different views of the waterfall. Our next stop was Pingxi, where we wrote our messages and released our the sky lantern -- such an emotional and exhilarating experience. From there, it was walking through the streets and marketplace of Jiufen Old Street. We stopped for a delicious lunch at a restaurant overlooking the city and provided a great view of the sea. Our final stop was Yehliu Geopark, which Caleb intentionally scheduled as our last stop (to avoid the heat and crowds of people) -- which we greatly appreciated.
Caleb was an exceptional guide. For those wanting an English speaking guide, he is the perfect choice! He was engaging and made for great conversation. He went at a comfortable and easy pace, allowing brief stops and frequent bathroom breaks. He also offered to take our photo at various times throughout the tour, which was so helpful (and he often had suggestions which made for great photo ops).
Overall, this tour comes highly recommended. We are already looking forward to our next trip to Taiwan with our family, and will definitely reach out to book our tours with YOLO Taiwan.

Wonderful private tour with our guide Vincent Lee. He was knowledgeable, shared lots of information about geography, history, culture, and religion. He had videos and written info for us to review as he drove, and we enjoyed conversing with him. Vincent came prepared with extra umbrellas to shield us from the sun or rain and wipes to freshen up and wipe our brows when we returned to the car. Vincent provided very personalized service. He listened to our interests, steered us to the stands at the market we were most interested in -finding us places to purchase wax apples and sugar apples, have tea, and get sausages with sticky rice. Vincent knew the best places for viewing spots and acted as our professional photographer with some very creative photos. This is a great tour and good value!

We had Harry for guide our private tour couples tour. As with all tours to a new place, the experience is a combination of both the places we visit and the guide who takes us there. Harry was a wonderful and sincere multilingual personality to have along showing us the beautiful sites, smells and sounds and even tastes of Jiufen and Pingxi. The vehicle was a late model Nissan X-Trail, Harry was punctual, very communicative, energetic and knowledgeable. We were taken off the usual tourist route where possible and used locals only paths to avoid the crowded queues in some spots. Lunch was taken care of personally by Harry who even went to the kitchen to make sure our food was compliant with our halal requirements. We met a wonderful tea master lady who treated us to a variety of amazing taiwan teas and learnt about the tea ceremony and facts behind the rituals. A wonderful day and experience, where we made new friends and shared many great life experiences. Highly recommended.

Hicks was a fantastic tour guide and we highly recommend you take a tour with him. He showed my wife and I around increĂble spots in Taipei. Vincent made the trip a complete breeze for our whole family. We appreciated the door to door pick up/drop off and the conversations and commentary that he provided along the way. This trip was the absolute highlight of our time in Taiwan and we would highly recommend. Our mum has a disability, and Vincent was incredible accomodating and took care to plan the itinerary around her needs. We also loved the sites we visited and felt like it presented a different side of Taiwan, while including unique experiences such as writing and lighting lanterns. Thanks again for the fantastic experience!
