- reuben m0 contributionsWaterfalls, views and caffeine - oh yes please!I had a fantastic day with Ian! The views of Sipi Falls are epic and the hike is really beautiful and interesting. It’s cool to see all 3 waterfalls as well as views of the valley and many many farms. And the local lunch was very delicious. I sure feasted. And then the coffee tour was perfect after the big lunch. We pounded the chaff off the coffee then roasted and ground it and made a delicious cup. And the farmers Tolbert and Betty are really sweet and friendly too. What a great day!Written 2 February 2025

- Yasmine S0 contributions2 women 2 day Sipi falls hike and coffee tour experience, staying at Lacam LodgeWe loved our experience with Discover Sipi, we were two girls traveling alone and we felt very safe in every part of the trip! William was very friendly and always available, he even arranged for us transport to Sipi and accommodation at Lacam Lodge, with beautiful views of Mt. Elgon and on of the falls. Our guides was Ian, who explained everything during our hike and coffee tour, even took pictures of us. The coffee tour was totally worth it, making and drinking our own coffee. A special mention goes to our 2nd guide, Poppy a lovely dog that accompanied us during our adventure. Thank you, for the unforgettable experience!Written 3 December 2024

- doomahnk0 contributionsA magnificent mountain, I want to go there again!!!I climbed the best mountain of my life, Mount Elgon in Uganda. Mount Elgon is 50km wide from east to west, 80km long from north to south, and has an area of 4,000㎢ (including Mount Elgon on the Kenyan side), making it the largest extinct volcano in the world. Its highest peak, Wagagai Peak, is the 12th highest mountain in Africa. The reason I chose to climb this place in Africa is because, when I saw pictures on the internet of mountains around 5,000m high, such as Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Kenya, and Mount Stanley, it was such a beautiful mountain in terms of cost-effectiveness, weather, and grandeur. When I climb to the top of a small mountain and look out, it feels like I'm seeing a new world, but Mount Elgon, once the highest peak in Africa, was so different. Hippohead Peak, Round Altar Peak, Table Peak, and countless other rocky mountains that you can't see anywhere else, deep valleys that are wide open like twins with clear water flowing, magnificent ridges that seem close but far away, and grasslands and nameless flowers spread out widely below, it seems like a place where gods live. It is truly a mountain that opens your heart. It seems like a great land for people to live in, with the primitive jungle, water, and grasslands, but I heard from the guide that the Bagisu, Sabiny, and other indigenous people moved to other places. They must have taken the livestock they raised with them, so I couldn't see them, which was a shame, but the green primitive grasslands are spread out beautifully. So if the herbivorous livestock that used to live there had been restored, it would have been even more pleasing to my eyes. The Bagisu tribe called Mt. Elgon 'breast mountain'. It is too beautiful to express in words, and I, who live in a civilized world, want to live here instead of going down. I took a lot of pictures and videos because it was a shame to see such a beautiful mountain alone. However, I would like to suggest some improvements to attract more visitors. First, in order to improve accessibility to the mountain, the road to the entrance of the trail needs to be paved and more trekking courses need to be developed. This is because visitors who come with vehicles or who also visit Sipi Falls want to descend from the starting point unless there are special circumstances. Second, the mud paths that become a mess when it rains while hiking should be closed because they pose a high risk of accidents and damage to nature. Nevertheless, I would like to recommend this place to those who love mountains, so please go even if it is difficult to access.Written 4 November 2024
- Dan A0 contributionsThe Very Best Guide In SipiI went to Sipi with my wife to film a travel documentary and William gave us all the support we needed. He’s a very warm guy and knowledgeable about the entire Sipi tourism ecosystem. He contributed much to the documentary as a tourist guide and local. That was the first but not the last time we worked together. I have severally gone back and he’s been as exceptional as always. People I have referred to him share similar sentiments.Written 7 October 2024
