- Geoff I0 contributionsBrilliant put it into your diary as a must visitWell worth the tour particularly with the accompanying earphone guides throughout. Not very arduous for those who are older like us and very interesting in the viewing and listening throughout the tourWritten 8 August 2023
- Stockers1040 contributionsLarge Cave.Mammoth cave name because of the size of the cave. We were in a large group that was broken into two groups. Very easy entry into the cave as we had a large group so had a local guide. Wonderful experience to view the stalactites and stalagmites lit up wonderful + the skeletal remains of animals found in the cave. Quite a few steps & some grades to climb but if you take your time it is easy.Written 23 April 2023
- T2040CLjulieb0 contributionsA special placeAn easier walk than lake cave, but not as spectacular. But still special and worth a visit. The tours self-guided you wear headphones to get information you can walk as fast for you want. We took an hour to to the cave and returned to the information centre.Written 16 April 2023
- RebmaB0 contributionsAn amazing experienceAn awesome experience. The biggest cave I have ever seen. Well worth a look. There are a lot of steps so be prepared.Written 15 April 2023
- Jane W0 contributionsBeware long climb out! This cave is well worth a visit. Very specky and cool inside. When you have finished exploring you make a choice as to whether to return back the way you came or exit up a very steep narrow staircase to the road and then a longish walk back to the car park. We are both in our 60s and fairly fit so we enjoyed it BUT I note some reviewers might not have realised that this climb and long walk back through the local forest is an option you can choose. If you dont like steep stairs or its hot or happens to be raining we would suggest retracing your steps rather than taking this route OR be prepared to take your time, and take water with you.Written 7 April 2023
- otagojen10 contributionsWell worth the money.Fantastic walk through the cave with audio describing how the caves are made etc. Bit of a climb out of the cave, but good climb out. This cave is huge. So if your in the Margaret River region it is a must see!Written 14 March 2023
- AdamJMA0 contributionsUnexpected ExperienceDropped in on Mammoth Cave (named because of its size) on our way down to Cape Lewin. We were wondering if it would be worth the time and were very pleasantly surprised. Well worth the entry fee and the 1:30 hours it took to look around.Written 12 March 2023
- rhondac9410 contributionsWonderful place to visitFantastic place to go to look at caves. Self guided tour you can do at your own pace. Wasn't very busy when we went so had the caves to ourselves for most of the time. There are approx 200 steps you have climb but if you take your time it's not that hard to navigate.Written 30 January 2023
- P3777MLmandyb0 contributionsStunning CaveMet by friendly staff and with audio, at the ready, we set off into the cave. Mammoth in name and size. Magnificent inside Took so many photos !! Very informative audio. Took the long walk back amongst the bushland and trees...stunningWritten 10 January 2023
- 704kate0 contributionsBeautiful caveWe enjoyed the self guided walk through Mammoth Cave. The commentary on the headset was clear and had lots of information. It was easy to navigate through the Cave and there were many beautiful features to look at.Written 4 October 2022
- Ellen G0 contributionsLots of steps! The main draw was the fossil remains of animals that are now extinct, but there aren't that many on display. Lots of steps especially back up to ground level at the exit, but it leads you down a short 400 or 700m bush area before you return to the visitor's center. The cave itself took only about 25 minutes to cover, and the rest of the stair-climb/ hike back to the exit took another 15. The audio guide that comes with your ticket is not very informative (not that many stops/ tracks to listen to), my player's socket had contact issues so half the time the volume was very low/ crackling with random bursts of loud volume that uncomfortably jab your eardrums. IMHO, Jewel Cave is a much better experience, with a fully guided tour that takes about 1h, much more is explained, making for a better learning experience.Written 21 September 2022
- MichaelandAnne0 contributionsWell worth it.We loved it - great tour and excellent help by staff. The cave is awesome. Its worth it just to stand in awe and appreciate nature.Written 10 July 2022
- Theophilus_Maximus0 contributionsCave with lots of nice natural features, fossils and nice bush walk at the end!One of the 4 major caves in the Margaret River region. Self-guided unlike the Jewel Cave and Lake Cave. The front portion of the cave is definitely prettier than the latter half, and warrants more time. When exiting the cave, you will have to cross the road to get back to the visitor center. If you're in good health, suggest choosing the longer path (700m) over the shorter one (200m) to enjoy a nice bush walk that features a lot of nice flora that is unique to the region, including tall marri trees. The long path also features a gentle creek crossing (with rocks laid out) during the winter season. Definitely worth a visit!Written 7 July 2022
- Goosefeather0 contributionsLarge Caveself guided tours. Large spaces - non worries for any claustrophobics. Many internal stairs, with ~170 steps to exit.Written 6 July 2022
- mrmtee0 contributionsGreat attractionDefinitely worth a visit when travelling the Cave road down to Augusta. The Auto tour headphone set is a must.Written 2 June 2022

Self guided tour was straight forward and much more enjoyable being able to go at my own pace. The tour should warn people of the steep climbing at the end as well as the 10 min walk back to the car park. Other than that it was great! Would recommend for active families with children of all ages

It was the first time we had visited anything like this. We arrived early and were able to park our 2 cars with caravans attached. The staff were friendly and informative. The cave was incredible. We would recommend anyone pasding to stop and take a look.

We did this with two young grandchildren 4 and 2 years old and the cave itslf and subsequent short bush walk was very manageable for them both. They were absolutely enthralled as were we.
The lady at the ticket office/shop was delightful and added to a wonderful experience

The cave was amazing and the fact that we could do it at our own pace placed it apart from the other caves. It seemed less physically taxing until we exited and the 160 steps up put my lack of fitness to the test but we made it. The audio tour was very good and very informative but we felt having headphones on the whole time to listen to the tour took away from the cave experience. We didn't realise it until later in the tour but it meant you didn't hear the cave and you seemed to miss all the beauty around you because you were too busy trying to listen to the audio. I missed the personal touch of the tour guide which made the other caves a better experience. However we still thoroughly enjoyed the beauty of nature and the bush walk afterwards. Thank you to the trees that saved me from falling on the way around the bush walk steps.

Disappointed with the limited information in regard to suitability for this tour.
My family took my elderly parents (which I did try to deter them from coming due to so many steps) however, you would think the staff would provide better information prior to the tour and hopefully discourage this age group to participate. They struggled to make it to the exit.
There are no emergency procedures in place for either a medical event, rockfall etc.
When enquiring we were told, no there wasn’t any procedure in place. No emergency activation anywhere, nor did I spot an AED.
Like everywhere now in the region, the price is super expensive for a very short walk and overview. The Boranup forest (spectacular) was sadly affected by fires in 2021, but there is fabulous rejuvenation taking place.

What an amazing self guided tour. The first time i had ever been in such a huge cavern and the sights were beyond explanation. Such a demonstration of nature at her best.
The only challenge were the stairs to get back up to the surface (I believe 172 approx).
Would recommend for anyone who is able to walk and climb stairs as this is an amazing experience.

This was a totally awesome cave to visit. It was breathtakingly beautiful and so unique. Not hard to walk, although there are stairs to traverse, you can take your time to climb them and hand rails help. I would highly recommend this experience. The audio guide is helpful to your understanding of the cave and its fossils. There is a gentle bush walk at the end.

I liked that it was self-guided in that it meant we could take our own time, and not rush to the next thing.
The cave was awesome and there were many beautiful aspects of it. The lighting enhanced the experience. The sheer size of the cave, and the length of it was surprising!
We got plenty of good photos here.
I liked that at end of the cave tour, there was a bush walk. It was so lovely. There has been a fire along here recently, but there is beautiful new green regrowth.
We got even more lovely photos here!
I would recommend a visit to anyone coming to the region.

Lots of things to see in this cave. Very well kept cave. A bit of a hike coming out of the cave. Quite dark inside even though there is lights in there. Some parts may be wet, so take extra care. Overall awesome cave for a hot day because inside gets down to 12C

This was quite an easy cave to examine and one we hadn't seen before. The fossils were stunning and the formations are simply beautiful. The staff were very helpful and engaged in a but of humour with us as well. We took the long walk back as recommended and it was delightful being among such tall timbers
