- Ambassador1546360 contributionsPrepare for the return climb...but its worth itVery cool So much history ....so many steps ..lol We had a great guide " Garry" very knowledgeable, he is actually a geologist...and you can tell. The depth of history this cave has is astounding. The lake makes it so magical. The hardest part is the climb back to the top...but just take your time...its definitely worth a visit. We really enjoyed itWritten 27 September 2024
- rosemaries9840 contributionsA fantastic experienceI organized a group tour with Lave Cave this August, Emily was our tour guide and was very informative and included everyone in her presentation. Emily's knowledge of the history was well presented, and everyone enjoyed the tour and Learn'd a bit more of the area. I can highly recommend the tours as all the staff are so friendly and helpful. - Paradise572787844590 contributionsBeautiful CaveWe visited this cave as our choice of the caves in the area. It was magnificent. The trees as the entrance was huge and the cave itself was large and beautiful. The guide was knowledgeable and friendly. Definitely go to this cave. There are 352 steps leading down to the cave but you can take as long as you like coming up and there are rest seats on the way.Written 16 October 2023
- JenBoote0 contributionsSo glad we didn't miss this one!My 17yo and I loved this tour. We did Jewell yesterday but this one is amazing and Ava the host was fantastic.Written 18 April 2023
- TravelBugPlus30 contributionsCool caving adventure!Great break on a hot day exploring the depths of the Lake Cave. It's a very DIY experience with only a brief intro by a friendly guide who then sets you loose in the cave. Bring sturdy shoes and enjoy.Written 19 March 2023
- JohninPerth0 contributionsA well organised and interesting cave experience.Beautifully set up. The tour leader was very knowledgeable and kept engaging the children, which is lovely and unusual!Written 10 February 2023
- 277lorenzop0 contributionsWonderful but bad guideI'm very sorry to give such a bad rate, but the guide spoiled the overall experience. The place in itself is astonishing. Sadly, If you are a non native, you can't understand anything from the young guide, which speaks really fast, using slang and eating his words (if you ask to speak slowly he will continue in the same way).Written 15 November 2022
- Stamrish10 contributionsAnother caveDid this guide tour of Lake Cave before doing Jewel Cave. It was interesting enough and the guide was knowledgeable and friendly. It would have been nice to see the lake inside at it's best but there is nothing you can do about the weather. Still, it was worth the visit.Written 12 November 2022
- Taimi M0 contributionsSalli is awesomeSalli made this tour for us. Young as she was, she was well spoken, passionate and helpful. You could tell she was interested in what she was speaking about and the area. So glad we got here as our guideWritten 4 November 2022

- TWal10 contributionsImpressive CaveLake Cave is on the southern end of the Margaret River Region. There are 325+ stairs to negotiate and two or three sections of low clearance (watch your head) en route to the main chamber. The journey is worth doing for the view. The lighting within the cave is tasteful and adds to the appeal.Written 15 October 2022
- HofH9990 contributionsSpectacularStunning sights, superbly lit. Great and fun guide (Sky). Fascinating. However not for the feint hearted. 365 steps, equivalent of 20 storey building but don’t be deterred. And I am 73yo.Written 6 October 2022
- 704kate0 contributionsWonderful experienceOur family of 4 really enjoyed the guided tour of Lake Cave. Our tour guide Ava was excellent. She spoke beautifully and was very knowledgeable. We loved the reflections on the water. It was an easy walk through the caves with lots to look at.Written 4 October 2022
- Meera C0 contributionsGreat intro to caves in the SW!The deepest cave in WA so plenty of stairs needing navigating but the pace is slow and steady and lots of rest time. Loved the cave and learning all the insightsWritten 27 September 2022

It has been a while since I have visited the cave. There is an excellent information centre from which we descended 350 steps to the cave entrance. There were another 30 or so steps into the cave (mind your head!)
We had a slow walk with a very informative guide through the accessible length of the cave. The guide pointed out all of the features. The highlight is, of course, the suspended table (weighing some 6 tonnes) above the lake.
The guide switched off the lights.... so peaceful and tranquil.
350 steps back to the top... so some fitness is required though there are plenty of rest stops

Dear rhcpatt,
Thanks for taking the time to post some feedback. We’re always happy to hear about excellent visitor experiences at Lake Cave. You're right about the extraordinary stillness and silence of Lake Cave - very rare in our busy world.
Thanks again, and safe travels.

Lake cave was the first attraction, my friend and I visited after the restrictions were lifted and I have got to say; holy moly! Both of us enjoyed the guided tour very much and our guide has had all the facts ready and pointed out several features around the cave. The highlights were definitely the suspended table (weighing around 5 tonnes!!!) and the "dragon" (you'll see). At the very end of the cave, the guide switched off the lights...the most peaceful 3 minutes I've had in a while. 350ish steps on the way back to the top; a bit of fitness is required though you've got plenty of time to rest.
And don't worry; they follow all the measurements to ensure your safety during Covid-19.

Despite seeing Jewel Cave earlier in the day and being very impressed, we saw Lake Cave at the last session at 4pm and was equally blown away by the beauty.
Still alot of steps and coming back up, we were pretty puffed, but after taking a ton of beautiful photos, the shortness of breath because of being unfit, was worth it!!
Richard, our guide, was impressive with his knowledge and just his enthusiasm and love of the cave is infectious.
Definitely worth a visit. Even before entering the cave, the information centre provides a good history of the cave and surrounding area. Lots of souvenirs to.purchase also.

I visited with my partner and some friends the first weekend after regional travel restrictions were lifted. After visiting Jewel Cave earlier in the year we wanted to get out and support these tours. Lake Cave is beautiful, and it’s clear a lot of care is taken to conserve the attraction. Our tour guide Jackson was very informative and has a lot of passion for the caves. Be mindful there are a lot of stairs, but we survived :)
Look forward to visiting another cave on our next trip down south. Thanks Jackson!

This cave is fantastic! Not only is it incredibly beautiful, but the guides will give you so much interesting information that you'll be able to imagine what it must have been like millions of years ago.
The tours are worth your time and the few steps you have to climb up and down. It is an excellent activity for any age.
The lighting is so tastefully placed that your pictures will look fantastic. Highly recommend it!

We fully enjoyed this Tour Rowena explained everything to perfection with humour and gusto. She truly loves her job. The cave is amazing. 😊 We had never been in one before. I am terrified of heights and it didn’t even cross my mind how we were to get down into the cave and back up. But to my amazement the 350 stairs down made myself feel very safe. Once inside it takes your breath away. Thank you so much we will spread the word and come back to show family 1000000 out of 10 😂🤣😂🤣

Stunning natural beauty, well worth the price of admission. Wealth of knowledge passed onto us by our amazing tour guide, Josh. Josh left us laughing and amazed throughout the experience. My partner and I honestly believe that Josh took it from a tour to an experience. Thank you Josh for the knowledge, the jokes and your all round personality. These tours are worth the price of admission just to get the “Josh experience”

Cave is lovely and well lit. I come from Malaysia where the caves are huge and have barely any mordern man-made presence which gives you a different kind of raw experience. However the beauty of this cave is that it is small enough to comfortably explore and has distinctive structures you can pay a lot of attention to, on top of being immaculately preserved as most of the natural structures are well protected. The lighting brings out the structures and water reflection perfectly. The tour guide was friendly and funny. Sadly the water level is depleting and I feel that people should head over as soon as possible.

The steep stairs gave the kids a bit of a shock at first, but they managed it very well. The trip back up the stairs made me pause a few times! 325 of the buggers! Fantastic cave though. Lovely guide, who didn't make fun of my difficulty getting back up the stairs, which was appreciated! Such fantastic views inside the cave, beautiful formations and some amazing photos with the lighting effects.

Went to Lake Cave today with some friends, I have been here before, but currently the water level in the cave is at its highest level in nearly 70 years.
On arrival we were greeted by Johdi who organised our tickets and gave us a quick rundown on the cave and what to expect, 325 stairs each way up and down….
Tour kicked off right on time and our fantastic and thoroughly entertaining guide Digby introduced himself and got us on our way.. with lots of information to share before we even got into the cave.
The cave has new lighting since my last visit, all used to great effect 😎 seeing the lake so high was a joy and I encourage you to get there while the level remains high.
10/10 to both Johdi and Digby
