      Great from start to finish
Thanks to the lovely admin lady who happily accommodated our change of departure time as we found the departure point earlier than anticipated. It saved us waiting around in the heat with the kids for an hour. All the staff were in good spirits and really friendly. We had a great day sandboarding for the 1st time and made some nice family memories together. We probably should have gone on a cooler day as the sand gets quite hot but it didn't dampen the experience. Thank you!

If you only do one thing in Port Stephens...
You have to do the 'Sunset Sandboarding and Picnic' tour. Owner Ian was an absolute champion and so much fun. He was full of knowledge and really paid tribute to the lands of the traditional custodians of the area. He created the perfect balance between making us laugh, capturing some great shots and then casually stepping back and allowing us to enjoy some beautiful moments just the two of us. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see something truly beautiful. The incredible scenery of the sun setting over the dunes is breathtaking. Combine that with the hilarious fun of sandboarding and you are set for the perfect evening. And Lauren, you pack a mean picnic. We know exactly why Ian married you! Thanks for the treats and the take-home bag. The fact that the business strives to achieve zero plastic is phenomenal We are beyond gobsmacked. Thank you so much to Ian and his fabulous business. We will be back to do many more experiences with you

      Good, Fun and Tiring
Excellent service. People are friendly, Fun but very tiring. Unsuitable for old people as climbing up is quite difficult and tough. My children, 7 and 9 years old enjoyed the sand boarding.

      Great
Had a wonderful experience with John today driving along Stockton Beach to Tin City. Good commentary and knowledge plus we were well looked after. On to the Sandboarding and he helped us pretend we were going down the dune.

On November 12 my friend and I went for a sandboarding activity. Everything went well, both the guys at the booth and the instructor were nice. There weren't many people on the dunes at the time. We had great fun. When the time to come back to base arrived, a total of about 12 people needed to hop on the bus, including a family of 3, a couple, a group of five people, and my friend and I. The driver had a bit of a c*nty attitude when he simply decided to cram five people at the back of the bus, sitting shoulder to shoulder. We didn't even come together! I mentioned the social distancing. He ignored me. There were more than 6 free seats, he had no reason to force us to seat together. He didn't care. We ended the trip on a sad note.

Weather was hot, which wasn’t their fault but they removed one of the two tents initially pitched up because we were the last batch. How do you expect a family of four and two couples to fit under the shade.... weather was almost 40 degrees.
Climbing the sand dunes was hard and we all wished they would give us a lift up the slope just once. When asked the driver just said $20. We already paid $35 each for a 15 mins drive to the location. Very overpriced for little effort on their part.

Hi Ashley, Thank you for your review but can I just clarify a few thing for you ... Firstly the day you came was extremely hot and as the day progresses it got windy...our staff had called the office in regard to the wind and we decided to remove the free standing shade tents and leave the remaining shade that was attached to the hill Troopie, we understand this is small in comparison but for the safety of customer and not wanting the shade tents blowing away out of control along the hill is something we did not want to chance, sorry for the inconvenience this caused you. Secondly I spoke to the staff member you asked about the lift to the top an he was under the impression it was a joke?? by the way it was asked?? we get asked this question 100 times a day and its just our standard answer! (he actually said a cheeper price then what I say! your lucky!) its just not possible to take customer up the top ... even just once, with people walking about its just unsafe ... we even get asked to put in an escalator haha this would be covered in sand within 3 hours so again just not possible ! Im sorry you misinterpreted his answer, I do hope you enjoyed the unlimited sandboarding experience though and may I recommend if you ever come back to come in winter or even when its raining as its cooler and you slide faster in the rain!

Plenty of brochures around Nelson Bay with old pricing which is much less than they are currently charging. So on arrival at Anna Bay, I was disappointed to realise I was going to pay at least 50% more than what I was expecting. Perhaps they should have gone around the resorts and tourist operators in Nelson Bay and surrounds and replaced brochures. Anyway, off we went (our family of 5) and my son and I had a great time on the dunes. We even mastered standing for short runs. My wife and 11 year old daughter when they saw the dunes hardly attempted it, so a bit of a waste on them. I would only recommend this activity if you are game to get a bit out of your comfort shell, because when you are the top looking down, it looks scary. But that is the point ! Amazing spot and scenery. You also need to be quite fit as walking up the slope a couple of times I was finished. Recommnedation if you go - build up your fitness and take plenty of water.

We went sand boarding through 4WD Tours R Us. Our booking was at 12:30 PM, however we had delays in the morning, I emailed them few minutes away from our booking to request if we can move our booking to a later time, the staff promptly responded and accommodated our request. Thank you!

The adventure started with checking in with staff at the office going through the safety procedures. Then driving off into the meet up point. Greeted with amazing instructors/guides they got us set and ready for the tour very quickly. Then the adrenaline started with the tour in dividing the group into a slow and fast group. Hands down was a well though out track and made it memorable with lots of stories to tell after.

Overall had a blast. Sliding down the sand dunes offered an exhilarating yet fairly safe experience. Riding down the hills was fast enough to get your heart going, but not too fast to be scary.

Downsides: I found it to be highly priced, given what you’re getting. That bring said, the 4WD 5 minute bus shuttle does add value.

Also another downside, there were quite a few riders who decided to forgo the rules and sit at the bottom of sand dunes and therefore blocked the path down. Also, some riders started sliding down before the earlier rider exited the hill, causing some collisions and close calls.

I hope that the staff there could put in a greater effort to enforce the rules and etiquette on the riders for the benefit of all.

Adrenaline, smiles and lots of woo-hoos. The best activity for the whole family. The inner kid thrills were there for me and our kids just loved it. This day was the highlight of our road trip. Be ready to be exhausted. Lots of sand climbing to take the ride back down the dunes. Loads of fun.

To be honest, this excursion this was not quite what we had expected having previously undertaken sandboarding in NZ where the boards were bigger and the thrills were more extreme. Nevertheless, we still enjoyed our afternoon of sandboarding and would still rate the experience highly. I would however recommend a certain level of physical fitness before embarking on this adventure as the climbs up to the top of the sand dunes can quickly take it out of you and will ultimately determine your length of time spent out at the dunes.

Today I went sand boarding with 2 friends. We were three people.
The trip there was in an adequately maintained 4WD that felt appropriately safe.
We were given a sand board each as well as a safety induction. The induction was informative, on point and informed me of any potential safety issues and the appropriate behaviours to follow in order to stay safe.
Overall we had an appropriate amount of fun and enjoyed ourselves to a satisfactory level.
I give it 5 stars as this is the appropriate amount of stars for said scheduled fun activity.

We had fun as a family and my teenagers definitely want to come back with friends. Its hard work walking up so better on a cooler day. Also recommend you go early while the sand is fresh for a smoother ride.
