Thoroughly enjoyed this trip. A rollercoaster ride in comfortable, if snug land-rover. Stunning scenery and so many glimpses of Cretan life, past and present. Jason really knows and loves this island - his warm, informative commentary made the day so enjoyable. Recommended!

Picked up from our hotel and headed to the south of the island. After an exciting drive, saw Griffon Vultures from the top of one of the mountains. Ventured through an amazing gorge before wandering along a deserted beach. Fantastic lunch as well as other frequent stops. Vasilis kept us entertained with his local knowledge and wry humour. A fantastic day which we would happily do again. Highly recommended.

We were on the Birthplace of Zeus trip however the Cave is closed at present. Nonetheless it was a great day in the mountains. Our guide Darrel is knowledgeable and entertaining. We made lots of stops to see vultures soaring high above, admire ancient engineering (Roman and Venetian), admire the views and geology. We stopped in a village to hear about WW II history and at a goat dairy to meet the goats and taste cheese and raki. Visiting a working monastery was interesting. Lunch at a BBQ café on the plateau was very good and the agriculture there impressive. Some of the ride was, as promised, off well formed roads but we felt safe high on the mountainside.

We went on the full day tour with our guide Gary and saw some amazing sites in the Mountains of Crete. Gary was an amazing guide with years of experience and made the day both fun and informative the whole time. We were amazed with the entire journey, breathtaking views and cultural visits Ali g the way. Try the Raki, it is different but good! Our lunch spot was very quaint and the food was superb, so authentic, fresh and flavourful…free wine with the meal was an added bonus. Highly recommend this trip and if you are lucky perhaps Gary will be your guide for the day to add to your pleasure.

The best way to see the real Crete away from the tourist areas. Our driver, Giannis, was very knowledgeable and passionate about Crete and Greece and made sure everyone joined in. Plenty of food, wine, and raki! Definitely recommend

We have done this tour many times and it's one of the very best, but what made our most recent was the tour guide Darrel lovell. He was superb from start to finish, his knowledge was amazing, he made the trip, fun, interesting, fantastic photo opportunities and never rushed us. He came across as genuinely passionate about what he wanted us to explore. Brilliant guy, helpful to me (Emma) as I have a walking aid and he helped me when needed getting in and out of Jeep. Photo opportunities were outstanding and even helped us when looking out for Griffin vultures, truly amazing experience. Absolutely excellent!!! We were with 3 other couples which was great because the group gelled well and we got to know each other a little. Our driver and guide was Jason - he knew his stuff, was full of historical anecdotes, information about the wildlife, geology and the farming practices and to top it all, he was such a gent. Where do we start. Our Tour Guide Jase from St Helens you were outstanding. You made our trip so memorable with your fantastic humour and knowledge. The scenery, landscape and wildlife were breathtaking. The visits to the villages, to feeding mountain goats, watching cheese being made by the goat shepherd and then a fabulous meal in a family run local Taverna. What beautiful people cannot fault this trip at all you must go.

Nikos our guide was absolutely brilliant and being Cretan born and bread had a lot of local knowledge. The trip was really good, visiting an olive oil factory, lunch at a local restaurant and a very scenic off road drive. I would not recomnend this tour for people with back problems.

An excellent day out. Our guide Gary was very knowledgeable, friendly and enthusiastic. We explored the mountains and plateaus saw a side to Crete we knew little of. His knowledge of flirt and fauna helped to really open up the country. From Griffin vultures, goats in trees, to herbs and flowers, mountains, plateaus and gorges Gary tried to make surd we saw it all. The views were stunning . Lunch in the taverna was wonderful. A lovely day out we'd thoroughly recommend. Thanks Gary for making it even more enjoyable

From start to finish this trip was fantastic and worth every penny. We were picked up from our hotel in Koutouloufari promptly and headed out and about. The scenery was spectacular, off road was bumpy and our guide was so informative, thanks Darrel. The stops were interesting and lunch finished off the day so well. The food was delicious. Thanks so much for giving us an insight into life in Crete.

Joyful day! Jeff wos a marvellous guide, very knowable and funny. We saw interesting and beautiful sights, also off-road. Everything was well organised, and there was no hurrying. Meal was tasty. Highly recommendable day trip!

My partner and I did the 4x4 adventure yesterday and I have to say one of the best experiences of my life so far. Our guide Geoff was just exceptional , cannot recommend him enough. Very skilled driver and a wonderful host with endless knowledge. The whole experience from start to finish was amazing. We got picked up from our hotel, met some other lovely people on the trip, we did a number of things such as seeing how an Olive Press factory works, seeing Zeus’ cave, driving through the plateaus/villages up in the mountains, learned so much about the history of Crete and ended at a mountain Taverna with lunch and wine, but above all the views he showed us were just incredible!! Highly recommend doing this if you’re ever in Crete, such a wonderful day and thanks again Geoff, you were brilliant!

The tour we had to Preveli was brilliant. Our guide/driver Costa was just amazing. So knowledgeable and really funny. We learned so much from him about the history and culture of Crete and the places we were visiting. He definitely made our tour. We had several stops throughout the day, including the Potamoi Dam, a gorge where we got to see vultures and Spili. Highlights of the day - the little farm we stopped at for tasting - it was brilliant, we tasted the most amazing olive oil, walnut honey and kiwi jam; the taverna lunch at Preveli was fantastic; Spili was a beautiful village, even in the rain. The palm beach at Preveli is beautiful, so lush. But there were just far too many people so we walked a little of the palm walk, took some photos then went back to the beach the other side of the river (near the taverna) to dip in the sea. It was much quieter. I'd definitely recommend the tour. And if you get Costa as your driver, you are definitely in for the best day,
