- JohnT1970T0 contributions100% worth it. Better than bus tourI highly recommend this tour of Mt.Fuji. It was the highlight of my 3 week trip in Japan. Our guide Shawn explained all possible changes due to weather before we start. He is excellent guide and photographer, knows about photoshoot spots around Mt.Fuji. We were able to stop some good spots where were not mentioned on itinerary. We got a lot of amazing pictures with Mt. Fuji in the backgroundWritten 6 February 2020

Our tour of Mount Fuji with Shawn was an extraordinary experience that I highly recommend to anyone looking to explore this iconic mountain. Shawn, our guide, is an exceptional individual whose excellent English skills, friendly demeanor, and deep passion for the outdoors made the tour enjoyable from start to finish.
Shawn’s expertise in the history and geography of Mount Fuji and its surroundings was evident from the start. His enthusiasm for the region was contagious, making each stop on our tour more engaging and memorable.
Our adventure began with a visit to the beautiful Fuji Five Lakes area. Shawn provided detailed explanations about the geological formation and significance of each lake, enriching our understanding of this stunning natural landscape. The serene beauty of Lake Kawaguchi, with Mount Fuji majestically reflected in its waters, was a highlight.
However, the most memorable part of the tour was our visit to the location depicted on the 1000 yen bill, offering a breathtaking view of Mount Fuji. Here, we enjoyed a delightful BBQ that Shawn arranged. The food was delicious, and the setting was perfect. Shawn’s stories about the cultural and historical significance of the site made the experience even more special.
Throughout the tour, Shawn’s warm personality and genuine passion for Mount Fuji and its surroundings shone through. He was attentive to our needs and ensured that everyone in the group had a memorable and enjoyable experience.
In short, Shawn’s tour of Mount Fuji and the surrounding lakes was an exceptional experience that we will cherish. His knowledge, kindness, and ability to connect with his guests make him the perfect guide for anyone looking to explore this magnificent region. There's a reason why this is the top rated Fuji tour! I cannot recommend this tour enough and look forward to future adventures with Shawn!

I highly recommend booking this tour! Our guide, Shawn, was so friendly and knowledgeable of the Fuji area and steered clear of all the tourist trap locations of Fuji.
After briefly meeting Shawn, he customised an itinerary for us based on what we wanted to see in the area and recommendations of his own.
Shawn really went the extra mile as a tour guide, and brought his own camera to take photos of us and cook a lovely meal for lunch.
If you are looking for a tour that takes you to locations off the beaten track and allows you to really enjoy the scenery that Mount Fuji has to offer, I strongly encourage you to book this one!

Shawn was an amazing guide for our day from Tokyo to see the incredible Mt Fuji! Not only did he keep us well entertained with lots of information on our 2 hour car ride, he took us to the best viewing spots off the beaten path and away from the crowds. The highlight of our time with him was the great bbq in the woods alongside Lake Motosu with a beautiful view of the north side of Mt. Fuji. We got to grill most of it ourselves and it was delicious! Another added bonus was a festival of pink flowers and fresh ice cream from a local dairy. This is the only way to do Mt. Fuji and no one knows it better than Shawn!

As someone who prefers a more chill pace when touring, this has been nothing short of perfect. Sho was very friendly, and his love of traveling gave us confidence that the stops he curated for us would be awesome -- and it was! The view of Mt. Fuji towering over Lake Motosu was breathtaking. The food he prepared was awesome and we got to experience a slice of outdoor camping (minus the tents). Seeing the 1000-yen view in person was awesome, while Shiraito Falls feels like a hidden sanctuary.
For us though, the highlight of our trip was when he took us to the Asagiri Milk factory and we got to experience one of the best milk ice creams of our lives. It was so nice, we ordered twice! Our tour was flexible enough that we were able to enjoy our food and the view at our pace. To top it all off, he took lovely photos of us and he even gave us printed copies as a gift!
Overall, I highly recommend this tour if you're touring Japan, or if you just want a weekend getaway trip.

It is known that Fuji-san frequently hides in the clouds. We started our trip in Tokyo under a moderately heavy rain. We were afraid that we would not get to see Mt. Fuji, but Shawn used his experience to change the itinerary on the fly to ensure we had the best chance to see the mountain. The trip was an absolute success. We got to see Fuji-san in all of her unrivalled beauty. As an icing on the cake, Shawn cooked a delicious lunch for us by Lake Motosuko with a gorgeous, unobstructed view of the mountain, and we were able to avoid the busy touristy crowds. Thank you Shawn for a wonderful day!!

A MUST do when you are in Japan! Skip the big bus tours and book this private tour! Sooo worth it! As someone who has gone on two different Fuji big bus tours, this private tour with Shawn beats them out big time. Shawn was easy to communicate with, patient, and accommodating. He also helped us book dinner reservations and helped work out our transit issues. These things were completely separate from the tour but he was always willing to help. Genuinely good person and great guide who worked with our schedule and made sure we saw the sites we wanted to see. He made absolutely sure that I got my soft cream ice cream and drove to 3 different stores just for me!!
For lunch, Shawn took us to eat Hotou which was a local hotpot cuisine and it was absolutely delicious!
I recommend Shawn’s tour anytime any of my friends go to Japan. Also, all proceeds directly go to his small business and not a big corporate company which is a big plus in my book. 5 stars!

Wow, such an amazing trip and so worth it!! If we had been on an ordinary bus tour, we would NOT have seen Mount Fuji. As simple as that. 110% recommended.
Directions to the starting point were easy to follow, Shawn was very friendly and chill, so easy to get along with 🤙
Stopped by a market for fresh fruit, and headed to the first lake for a walk around with the beautiful autumn colours. Next stop was lunch by the water, and wow!! Shawn is an incredible chef and has the menu perfected 🤌 every element was delicious.
Stubborn cloud was still hiding Mount Fuji so the waterfalls were next and spectacular in themselves.
Still cloudy, but Shawn never gave up, so we kept driving around to different viewing points, and as he predicted, around 5pm the clouds parted and we were treated with glorious views of Fuji at last. An unforgettable moment and worth the wait.
Massive thanks to Shawn again, this tour was the highlight of the trip for sure!!!

This was without a doubt the most enjoyable experience I've ever had overseas.
Our guide was a lovely gentlemen who really went above and beyond the call for us to have an exciting time.
We were concerned when we saw our date approach and the weather looked terrible. He was willing to move to any date that suited! Sadly in the entire 2 weeks we were in Tokyo we never saw a blue sky but our guide brilliantly articulated not only one but two extra back up plans to work with the weather and ensure we had an awesome time.
He was genuine to talk to and had a lot of funny stories and helpful advice. I HIGHLY recommend booking this trip early if not straight away when you come to Japan.
He drove us in a comfortable clean car to Fuji from Nanako.
We got to go for a tasty restaurant meal in an area known for world famous Udon.
We had a cute pit stop for coffee and tea with a view of the beautiful lakes, uninterrupted.
On the way to the next destination we even stopped for ice cream! Best ice cream I've ever had.
Explored the waterfalls that were just stunning, all the while our guide took professional photos of us to cherish forever.
He helped us to find great deals on Nick nacks and peaches.
On the way around Fuji we stopped and viewed some gorgeous scenic points overlooking the southern alps.
Lastly we got to see a quaint heritage village with a fascinating koi pond that drops 8 meters deep.
Or guide made this day one of the best in my life and I cannot recommend him any higher.
A genuine guy with real ambitions to make your time perfect.

We’ve never done any kind of tour before so wasn’t quite sure how it was going to go, but it was absolutely worth it! Shawn was amazing as a guide, cook, and photographer, and he never failed to share information or history about the places or things we passed by. All the places we visited were not overly crowded and we never felt rushed throughout the multiple stops. He genuinely enjoys what he does and we had a great time getting to know him and overall, it was an awesome time. Definitely one of the most memorable days of our trip!

Shawn is fantastic as other guests noted. He is very knowledgeable about the area, speaks excellent English and makes the day easy and enjoyable. He drives you there and back (we appreciated his playlist for the car ride) and picks great spots along the way to stop and visit. Given we had a bit of extra time, Shawn suggested two additional stops which were incredible. The weather was not conducive to a BBQ so Shawn recommended lunch at Kosensou (delicious venison curry) and the people there were extremely friendly.
Overall a great day seeing Mount Fuji and the surrounding area, would absolutely recommend Shawn and this tour!

Hi. In this tour do you get to have the traditional picture of Mt. Fuji at the Chureito Pagoda?
Is it available this next sunday aug8th, monday aug9th or tuesday aug10th?
Thanks

If we do not wish to return to Tokyo and want to travel on independently after the tour to Kyoto, is that possible? (i.e. we will take a train south rather than return to Nakano)
