About
Adventurous travelers will love the chance to visit an unusual ice cave at the foot of Mt. Fuji. Located deep within Aokigahara Forest--sometimes referred to as the Suicide Forest--the cave can only be visited with a knowledgeable guide. Unlike some other caves, there are no boardwalks or handrails here, so you will experience the natural, untouched world of the cave full of ice formations.

Our booking in the morning was cancelled due to heavy rain but we were offered an afternoon slot which we accepted. We were picked up from Fuji View hotel, by Tada San. He drove to a car park 10 minutes away where we were provided with overalls, helmets and gloves. There were toilets available and a great view of Mount Fuji. We got back in the vehicle and drove a further 10 minutes to Aokigahara forest. Tada San was very knowledgeable about the forest and made time to speak to everyone, he is native Japanese but fluent in English. We had a walk through the forest, where Tada San explained about all the different trees and wildlife, to the ice cave. I myself was very anxious about the cave but Tada San was very sweet and said I could walk directly behind him, so he could reassure me and help me down the more tricky bits. I read that you needed moderate fitness and need to be experienced in previous reviews and I believe this is what made me so anxious. I won't lie and say the ice cave was easy but it was 100% worth it. We were taken 100 metres down into the cave. The cave was very slippery due to the ice but Tada San told people the safest places to step. My husband wore the wrong shoes, so did slip and fall once, but was not hurt. Tada San explained everything as we went and ensured everybody was okay as we descended and ascended. There is a narrow ladder you take to go in and out of the cave but Tada San stood at the bottom to make sure everyone made it down/up safely. I am definitely not physically fit or experienced with hiking but I managed it just fine. I highly recommend this tour. Tada San took some great pictures and sent them to everyone after, he was a fantastic guide 👍🏻

We really enjoyed this activity! We were a little late because we didn't realise that the trains and bus were so crowded during weekends to go to Fuji-san ! We sent a message and it was fine to start the activity half an hour late. We didn't find any coin lockers available but he kindly permit us to leave the luggages in the van. It was so much stress that when we seated in the van we felt immediately relaxed.
We entered the forest and our guide had so much to say about it. It was very interesting. Then we went in the Ice cave fully equipped with lights and overalls. Our guide was very careful about where to walk and to make sure we were alright. It was very slippery and the ice was melting because it was spring.
Then we went out and had a little walk around because we still had time. Our guide sent us photos so we didn't have to take out our phones all the time
Thank you so much !!

Booked this tour and explored the forest and ice cave. It was raining that day and the forest was extra moody. Worth experiencing the forest and seeing the dense roots growing on top of the volcanic ground and bright green moss everywhere.
The ice cave was very dark and difficult to walk (slippery) - we were provided headlamps and jumpsuits. The jumpsuits and hard hats kept us dry. The ice sculptures inside were cool to see - we did not go all the way in since it was so slippery but could see more ice stalagtites and stalagmites farther in. There was one other group that entered the cave during our visit.
The guide was knowledgeable and kind. He picked everyone up and dropped off at everyone's requested locations. Our tour had 6 people. He did not rush us during the tour.

I had the honor of having Mr. Toshio as my guide through Aokigahara Forest and into the Mt Fuji Ice Cave. Toshio was incredibly responsible and shared a wealth of knowledge throughout the journey, making the experience both educational and memorable. I was conveniently picked up at Kawaguchiko Station, which made the start of the adventure smooth and comfortable. A big thank you to Toshio for being an excellent tour guide! I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to explore this fascinating area with a knowledgeable and dedicated guide.

A very exciting experience! A gorgeous walk through Aokigahara followed by a beautiful and icy time in the Ice Cave. Our guide Toshi was extremely knowledgeable about the area and very friendly providing a ton of information in English and Japanese. Our guide picked us up from Kawaguchiko Station and then drove us to the entrance of the forest. The company provided jumpsuits for the cave, helmets and headlamps. An amazing and unique experience!

This is an incredible educational hiking and caving tour. Our guide Toshi was amazing! We learned about volcanos, different types of forests, vegetation and different types of caves in the area. We met at the specified location and then took a small van to a rest stop near the forest where we received our equipment for the cave. We then drove to the forest where we hiked to an ice cave. We descended into the cave which was very cold compared to the summer weather. It was all very safe and really interesting. I booked this tour after reading the Incredible reviews and it was a highlight of our trip. Thank you!

Excellent tour! Our tour guide, Toshi, was very pleasant and friendly. He spoke excellent English and provided a ton of information about the beautiful forest and maintained lighthearted conversation throughout the entire tour. Safety equipment was provided as he took us through the gorgeous cave and told us about its history. I highly recommend this experience.

This was an incredible adventure!! I wasn't quite prepared for how primitive the cave would be, and I was a bit nervous once we realized that (I'm not the most graceful nor fit individual). However, our guide was helpful, knowledgeable, had a good sense of humor, and kept us all safe. The forest is beautiful, and we learned about the history and the flora and fauna of the region as we hiked along. I would definitely recommend this tour for anyone looking for an exciting experience that is different from the regular touristy fare!!

For 5 straight days we had endless troubles with our trains in Japan (weather related issues). As a result, we had to change plans several times in a few days. Were supposed to arrive to Narusawa the day before the activity, but ended getting there half an hour after it started :(
They gave us every opportunity to join the activity, offering us different places and times for the pick-up, and when it was obvious that we couldn't make it, they offered us the option of switching to the next day group (no charge). I've seldom found that level of helpfulness and I am really grateful for that.
The guide had a lot of knowlegde about the forest and told us about the different kind of vegetations you can find there, it was really interesting. The Wind Cave has very little ice now (global warming) so it is not as spectacular as it was 10 years ago (so the guide and a more "veteran" visitor said) but still worth visiting, specially if you have some one to tell you a bit about its history.

Amazing tour! Toshi was very nice and informative, providing valuable information about the Aokigahara forest throughout the tour. He took pictures of us and offered to send them through email. He also gave us local food and restaurant recommendations! It is absolutely beautiful inside the cave! Comfortable to get in. Me and my husband really enjoyed the tour and would definitely recommend it.

Hi, does this take you to Mt Fuji 5th Station? How long do you spend at the Kawaguchiko lake? Thank you!

Hi, not the 5th station. This one is the Aokigahara forest. If you are thinking of climbing Mt Fuji, got to sign up for a different programme.
