- ChandraJyothi0 contributionsRecipe for an Unforgettable trip.. Untouched Scenery, Comfortable Coach and Enthusiastic Adrian..It was a wonderful and unforgettable trip. The surroundings were mesmerizing, the drive was comfortable and exciting both. Our guide, Adrian.H is just awesome. He narrated so many stories, local legends. He was very knowledgeable and had a gift for narration. He's an extremely friendly and a jolly guy and my 8 year old son declared Adrian as the best Man he met in Australia 😃 The entire trip was well planned and well organized. We stopped at all the beautiful places had enough time to click some pictures and selfies and also look around and enjoy the tranquility of the place. Thank you Downunder Tours for such a lovely trip and Thank you Adrian for everything during the trip and the Ice creams🍦🍦 😋Written 17 January 2025

At 835 sharp for a 10 hour tour with lunch and an Ice cream stop on the way home. Visited the Daintree forest national park and Cape Tribulation. Our guide, AJ, was very knowledgeable and gave us lots of information about the plants and animals. We saw a crocodile on the river tour and a cassowary on the drive. Swimming in the creek and the lookouts were also highlights.Written 15 January 2025
- Caroline C0 contributionsSaw a cassowary!Bridget was wonderful! Really knowledgeable about all aspects of the forest, the animals, insects and the local people. She was very organised and kind. Daintree was wonderful and I would have liked to spend more time there. Lunch was excellent, However it was a very long day with the majority of it being driven around. We saw some amazing insects and a Cassowary! Which is extremely rare! Had a great time, would have liked to cut out some of the short stops to allow more time to see Daintree,Written 15 January 2025

- Gerry S0 contributions4*+ Generally great trip🤠We really enjoyed this trip, with Down Under Tours, for the most part. Undoubtedly the Skyrail was a fun way to travel and seeing the tropical rainforest was fabulous in breadth, depth, scale and intensity 🤗🤗🤗 The 'Village of Kuranda' was not a highlight, as this is mainly about shops, cafes, etc! However, we enjoyed the 'Kuranda Scenic Rail' train return journey; albeit the magic was tinged with sadness at the mighty price paid by those who laboured SO hard to engineer this railway line: so much inspiration built on others perspiration from hardship! The down Under Tour driver (we went on the morning of Monday: 6/1/25) and the male driver (apologies, didn't get his name) was lovely; offering pertinent, patient commentary: most appreciated 🤗🤗 The return driver (again, missed her name, but had dyed purplish hair) drove far too fast on the return journey; she was in some hurry! Perhaps management would have a word, as safety is paramount!Written 8 January 2025

- carolcV8533FK0 contributionsGreat Daintree tripGreat day out. Adrian Hazel was very Friendly & informative with lots of fun stories. Excellent bus, very comfortable. Ally/Ali/Allie or with an E took us down the Daintree river on the hunt for crocs. No sighting but so much to see & learn about in this amazing area. Delicious scones & jam for morning tea, fantastic lunch, have the Barra & locally grown & made ice cream was the final treat before the long trip home. What a privilege that we get to visit such a beautiful part of Australia. Thank you to all for caring & keeping this wonderful environment safe. Only down side was the selfish entitle O/S tourist that couldn't follow a request. Putting their own needs before the health & welbeing of another. Very inconsiderate & disrespectful towards Adrian.Written 4 January 2025

The scenic railway is the best, I accidentally booked gold class & what a happy accident that was! We booked it through Down Under Tours who offer to pick you up from Cairns and take you to the terminal (we drove to the terminal from Cairns). We opted for the train ride up to Kuranda & the views were stunning! We got to see a waterfall that you can only see from the train and due to gold class we received food, drinks, a small thank you gift and tons of information about the railway and how it was built etc. Was well worth the money and will do this again, I preferred the train over the gondola as it was super relaxing and the added bonus of seeing the Stoney Creek Falls. You also get to hop off and have a look at the Barron Falls(you also get to do this on the gondola which is a closer view), which was inflood because we went during wet season, totally worth it. We took the gondola down which was also amazing! You have two stops on the way down, the closer view of Barron Falls & at Red Peak station which you can do a rainforest walk, even if it’s raining please do this!! We did and it was awesome & because it was raining they offer free umbrellas to take as you look around and there’s less people you have to share it with.
In Kuranda there’s lots to do and see, from heritage markets to cute little retail shops, butterfly sanctuary, bird world, koala gardens & various restaurants & cafes etc. Because of the rain our gondola was delayed by an hour for safety (please remember to treat the staff at the Skyrail with respect as they only care about our safety, they are not trying to make your life difficult with delays). & Due to the extra hour that we received, we went and cuddled with a koala in the koala gardens and walked around the township a little more, which was awesome for us as we felt that we originally didn’t have enough time for us to do what we wanted to do. Overall, if you couldn’t tell, this was an awesome day and i could not recommend this more.

Picked up from our accommodation and everything was well organised which made the whole experience fantastic. Definitely the way to go and you have plenty of time to stop and do things at your own pace. Beautiful scenery and Kuranda is lovely township. Recommend the Gold Class rail trip home as relaxing with a wine, beer and snacks is great way to end the day travelling through some fantastic scenery and close up waterfall views.

This experience was great! The team picks you up from your hotel in a comfortable charter bus, provides lots of info about Cairins along your way to the scenic railroad train. On the train (if you opt in for gold) you get a beverage and few snacks along with your scenic trip up to Kuranda. Note once you’re in Kuranda you don’t have a lot of time so move quick (2.5 hrs max) so note your Skyrail time to head back on time to make your bus transfer back to your hotel. I highly recommend the boat cruise (approx $25 AUD/person) it was very informative and you get to see (and feed) turtles, fishes and crocs. Maybe rush into town and go see animals at the Koloa Gardens ($25 AUD approx), you might have time for a quick lunch but this depends on your Skyrail time.
Going down the Skyrail is awesome! Beautiful view and the two stops are a must as the views are beautiful and photo worthy.
Then once you get to the end of the Skyrail take your photo and buy it if you like it. The bus will be waiting for you if you timed it all well and it will take you back to your hotel.
An awesome service and a wonderful day!

Booked a tour and was supposed to be picked up at 8:30am. Bus 40mins late with no notification for my friend and I who both listed valid mobile numbers and emails. When speaking to our hotel staff, they said it was a frequent occurrence with this tour company. You're better off buying your train and sky tram tickets and getting an Uber or taxi to/from the train stations.

What a fabulous way to enjoy a luxury train journey through fabulous landscapes. Starting with a mocktail at Freshwater Station and then boarding the train was simple, seamless and enjoyable.
Once on board, Aiko, our carriage guide served drinks and lovely hot food while making sure we knew where the next view was. We missed nothing.
The lounge chairs are comfortable and the delightful heritage carriages are spotlessly clean. Drop down windows provide a cooling breeze and photo access. The stop at Barron Falls is long enough to take the pics you want.
Access to the carriage is via steep narrow steps.

Wow, wow, wow! This trip was amazing and we would highly recommend that if you can, upgrade to Gold Class. It was well and truly worth it! The skysail was fantastic and our boys aged 6 and 10 loved it. The two stops along the way to look at the fall were great and Luke was very knowledgable. The scenic railway home was fantastic. Gold class meant that we had our own quiet carriage with only a few others, comfortable, individual arm chair seating and a lovely and attentive host, Aikito, looking after our every needs. Included in gold class was unlimited wine, beer and soft drink, and Aikito kept our drink well topped up for the duration of the trip. We also received macadamia nuts, mango sorbet and an individual cheese and dip platter. Yum! I would highly recommend this tour and upgrade to gold class if you can!

We walked from Double Tree by Hilton to the Cairns Railway Station to begin our journey to Kuranda on the Scenic Railway. It was a 20 minute walk to the station on a rather humid day. They were very helpful at the station and we finally boarded the train to find our set seats. The Gold Class section was almost full. We had very comfortable seats by the window to catch the beautiful views. The staff came around at took our drink orders of which you could have sparking wine, beer or cool drinks. We could have as much as we wanted. We also had a tray of food each which consisted of cream cheese & spinach pastry roll, savoury muffin and an enormous Anzac biscuit which was lovely. We finished off with a lovely Mango sorbet. On the trip you get to stop and stretch your legs and take a few photos of Barron Falls before heading off to the final stop at Kuranda. The train station at Kuranda is so beautiful that I took many photos. We headed of to check out the beautiful town of Kuranda. There is a lot to see and do here so allow some time to have a look around. We did the return journey by Skyrail so we could see the ocean on the way back.

We called to confirm, as per instructions, and were told that the skyrail was closed because of the weather. As we had a rental car, we drove to Kuranda and the skyrail was operating. Not sure if they hadn't made arrangements to pick us up or if there was a change between our call and our arrival. We had attempted to call the day before and, even though the recording said we were calling during open hours, the rest of the message said they were closed.

Booked on this trip for Tuesday 4th October through Trailfinders.
Our Trailfinders voucher advised pick up time at 07:45. We contactedDown under Tours for confirmation of pick up details which was given as 11:05. With many pick ups on the way - arrived at Kuranda sky train at approx 13;45. On reaching village told to be back at railway station for train departing 15:30. We were not seated in comfortable gold class carriage, did not receive any tea or coffee or snacks and insufficient time from arrival to explore Kuranda village. Restaurants, bars etc were all closing before our train departed. This Tour did not deliver our expectations- basically a total waste of money and time. Down under tours did not provide the tour we paid for, so can only rate our experience as terrible on the basis of this and poor customer service (note not Trailfinders fault ). Would seriously consider never booking a trip with this company,

An absolutely amazing trip. The little extra paid for gold class ticket with wine beer and canopes and bucket seats was def worth it. Barron falls were spectacular and if you do return on cable car as we did then you get to stop at photo point from both sides of it. Also did the Koala animal world in Karunda great value at $20 each but lots to see and then little village shops are not even rip off for tourist place. All in all great day out.

We’ve booked the tour but need to know what time to book the Koala Gardens for (pre-purchase the admission). The website and TA/Viator makes you pick and entry time.
What entry time should we select? And will we have time for a koala pic?

What hotels in Cairns do you pick up from? We booked Monday, May 27th, saw the list of hotels but did not note them at the time.
We have not made our hotel reservations yet for the two previous nights and would like to look at those you have made arrangements with for pick up. Thank you

This is advertised as an 8hr tour, but details sent when booking show more like 6 hours. If I board the skyrail at 12.45 and am back on the train by 3.30, does this leave enough time to enjoy the stops, view the township and visit the koala park and bird world?

I am looking to book this adventure. I see from other Q&A that we will have time to visit Kuranda Rainforestation Nature Park. I know the admission to the Nature Park isn't included. Do you have to purchase the admission tickets ahead of time or can I purchase them at the park?
