- P_Spau0 contributionsExcellent local tour of TokyoI have never been on a tour before, it was quite the new experience for me. The tour was quite relaxing, being able to see new areas, meeting new people, seeing beautiful scenery, and going to bars that I would have not thought to go to. The tour guides were friendly, polite and well-versed in knowing the areas. Talking about the history about each place we went added to the experience, I am glad that my friend recommended this tour for me. I would recommend this to my friends and family to go see and enjoy!Written 14 February 2019
- Ayumi T0 contributionsLocal Experience of TokyoIt was a truly awesome evening I had! The tour guide was very friendly and welcoming. This was definitely worth to join if you have the interest to feel the culture and the local atmosphere of Tokyo. The guide took me a classical record shop, a vintage clothing store, a beautiful church, a theatre... all place is quite interesting and very 'local', it must be very hard to find those places if I visited Shimokitazawa by myself. The bar hopping was the highlight and enough to satisfy my hunger with YAKITORI. It was an unforgettable evening! Would highly recommend! Written 25 January 2019
- mangoLove220 contributionsDifferent perspective of TokyoI was joining the walking tour in Shimokitazawa and bar hopping. It was a really interesting experience. Shimokitazawa is only a view stations away from Shibuya but it has a totally different vibe. Especially for vintage and fashion lovers a must. The tour guides were very nice and speaks good English. They showed me places I may never find by myself. They also explained many things about Japanese customs and culture. Very local atmosphere and the tour ended in a bar with delicious food. I had the feeling I would discover the neighborhood with friends rather than booking a tour. Highly recommended for solo travelers! Note: After a few days I decided to book the Odawara castle tour too, definitely want to wear that awesome samurai costume 😉Written 5 January 2019
- tomorrow_cozy0 contributionsDress up like a samurai, visit a traditional Japanese castle, 1.5 hours away from TokyoOn this Ellista tour, we visited the castle town of Odawara, which has a very rich history. We got to tour the castle, which included walking around inside it, witnessing ancient Japanese relics, including weapons and armor, as well as get a magnificent view of the surrounding mountains and ocean. We also had seafood barbecue for lunch, which we got to cook for ourselves. Not only that, but all of the fish at the market where we bought the ingredients for our meal were caught or at least brought into town via the same market. Talk about fresh and delicious! We also made coasters out of wood, which is a traditional type of craft in the local area. I gave the coaster to my mother and she loved it! The tour did include quite a bit of walking, and took the entire day, so I would recommend wearing comfortable shoes, and preparing for the weather. とても楽しかったです。また小田原を見に行きたいです。エリスタの皆様、本当にありがとうございました!:)Written 28 November 2018
- Olivier D0 contributionsGreat tour near to TokyoIt was a very great tour, from Fujisawa to Enoshima. We have been able to see Mt. Fuji from great views spots. We also eat local food, see great temples at Kamakura and also caves at Enoshima. This is really impressive and great to see. This tour is the best way to see so much amazing places during only a day, with a great japanese guide, speaking english.Written 29 October 2018
- DCtaveler50 contributionsGreat window into Shimo-Kitazawa gemsVery nice local walking tour designed to educate as well as foster a communal bond! Yuuki is very bright and animated, which makes for a great experience. She took us to many local spots, explained the culture, history, and reason for the spot’s popularity. Time was given to actually go into shops and buy things that one was interested in. On our tour, we also went to a farmer’s market type cafe and were able to enjoy a warm beverage together at one of the traditional low tables where the leg area is heated and covered by a blanket. It was a soothing and enjoyable experience. I really like how we saw a lot of things and never at any point felt rushed. The tour is also customized to the group’s interest. Would definitely recommend!Written 16 April 2018
- LizSan20180 contributionsNew view into ShimokitasawaI really enjoyed walking and talking with Yuuki. Shimokitasawa is a neighborhood with a lot of nice things to do. I loved the time in the cafe, the lotus tea was so delicious and we were like cats inside the japanese table, Kotatsu.Written 16 April 2018
- aimeeame0 contributionsInteresting experienceI never thought the area was for me but this local walking tour totally gives me a different perspective about Shimokitazawa and it was perfect for a solo traveller like me. I was impressed by how Yuki-san quickly customized the plan based on the tour group. Although she is still quite new to this, you can tell from her energy that she wants to make it enjoyable for everyone. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to explore Tokyo and prefers a less crowded place. Thank you Yuki-san!Written 10 April 2018
- Andy G0 contributionsExperienced the youth hip-popular overflowing culture ambience of Shimokitazawa with reliable guideFirst time in Shimokitazawa, The tour helped me to grasp the information around the area. With the lovely, fashionable, cheerful, and helpful guide, it's an enjoyable afternoon, walking around places become much more interesting with stories and histories about the area. Yuki-san which has a deep knowledge about the area, having come to shimokitazawa many times, explained each of the subject ( cafe, theater, etc ) very well. At first i got to choose what i'm interested in, the Yuki will quickly settle which route that we'll gonna do for the afternoon. I enjoyed everymoment because the ambience is like hang out with friends, so it felt so natural and at the same time very close. The area definitely has lot to offer, and having a tour to know it is better for a traveller that has a very short time to visit and need more expert advice to choose which place they might want to go. But either way, by solo travelling or tour is enjoyable. Group walking tour give you the opportunity to meet new people, sometimes people with different background and sometimes it surprising to meet amazing people. so to make it short, it is an enjoyable and memorable experience, great guide and great area. Enjoy the tour with open minded mindset. Don't be closed minded otherwise you'll spoil the tour thank you Yuki-san, Ai-san and Keiko-sanWritten 10 April 2018
- Daramany P0 contributionsA must do in JapanThis tour brought us to the best little shops in this small town and we fell in love. From vynil shops that had a wide range of music genre to 2nd hand clothing shops. Best option to escape the touristy side of JapanWritten 5 April 2018

Actually I've been to Shimokitazawa city many times but I didn't know - Deep cultural variety goods shops. - good mood book store - Good sweet "doughnuts" which made by Japanese traditional food Natto and so on. Gudie Yuki-san is so kind and really knows well about Shimokitaza and kindly recommended us to take a good pic's spot for Instagram:) Thnaks a lot!Written 5 April 2018

I highly recommend this tour for any visitors wanting to go past the fancy tourist attractions and learn more about Japan's history and culture and their everyday local way of life! Our guide was full of knowledge and had perfect English so I was able to have fun AND learn a lot :) Great format filling up on snacks & drinks before doing most of the walking too.

A great day to spend a half-day exploring the byways of Tokyo. Our guide Harumi - who was educated in Ireland and had amazing English- front-loaded the tour with food stops at a local pattiserie, tofu shop & an amazing almost hidden doughnut shop. With bellies sated we waded through streets that we would never find on our own without getting lost. After the food the highlight is the peculiar combination of shrine & temple and knowing that Tokyo bay once lapped on the shores of this area over 2,000 years ago certainly made you think how much Tokyo has changed. The tour itself is a leisurely pace with plenty of stops and a tonic if you need a break from the crowds.
