Great tour. Good fun. Would come again. Shingo was a great guide and we really enjoyed the ninja star throwing. The locating was easy for us as we were staying just down the road.

      Perfect for history lovers!
I absolutely loved the tour with Shingo! Interactive and extremely informative. You are led through another time and witness how the fluctuations of history influenced Samurai culture. The props are authentic and breathtaking. The only negative is that at some points I felt rushed; make sure you arrive with plenty of time to see everything before or after the tour to combat this! Overall recommend! :)

Its not often you will get to meet a Samurai master let alone get to wield a 400 year old Katana.
For those who have ever wondered what its like to hold such a weapon this is a must do event. However you absolutely must listen carefully and take notice of what is being said to you, this is no toy or copy its a genuine Katana sword and incredibly sharp.
You also get an opportunity to fling some rubber ninja stars and blow darts from a pipe.
The museum tour is a well worth it venue, the guide speaks excellent english and is well knowledgable on the Japanese feudal era.
Please go you will not be disappointed..

Great experience! Shinya did an amazing job teaching us about the samurai experience and how to properly swing the katana. Would recommend to anyone visiting Kyoto for the first time and wants a complimentary experience to the samurai museum

Me and my fam recently had the pleasure of visiting the Kyoto Samurai Museum and participating in the ninja star throwing experience with our guide, Adam. Adam was an absolute delight and had a wealth of knowledge about the history and techniques of ninjutsu. His passion for the subject was infectious!

The museum itself was fascinating, with a wide array of historical artifacts and displays on the art of the samurai. The ninja star throwing experience was a highlight of my kids' trip to Kyoto! Adam expertly guided us through the proper technique and we were amazed by how quickly we were able to get the hang of it.
Get yourself down to the Kyoto Samurai Museum! The kids absolutely loved dressing up and swinging swords around as well. :)

Absolutely brilliant experience, did the samurai sword experience, samurai history museum and ninja stars.
Throughout the entire experience the staff conducted themselves very professionally and friendly, in particular showing their patience to my young daughters.

Entire family all throughly enjoyed it and really appreciated the time and effort provided by all the staff

    Thankyou

We booked the samurai experience and it was very good. It includes the a sword movements instruction (with wooden swords to not hurt anyone), and a guided visit to the museum. The sword basic movements instruction it’s conducted in another building, but need to go to the museum building first. to the It was fantastic, specially for families but great fun for all ages! (And i will practice at home :))

Museum is situated in small building and parted to 4 floors. On the first floor you can make photo in samurai armor with a nice background image. There is also some history presentation. On the 2 floor you can see more of the history with a guide explaining everything. On 3 floor you can experience ninja shuriken throwing with some background story about ninjas and their equipment. And if you paid extra you can go to 4 floor where you get to cut tatami with authentic katana. My experience with cutting was very good. Feeling of the real sword has something overwhelming to it. Thanks to the sensei Ryo I managed to cut the tatami in one swing. I was surprised that I didn't feel any resistance in the cut and I really enjoyed it. It gives you an interesting feel of power and responsibility when you hold weapon like katana.

The experience combined culture and fun. Learning a pattern with the samuri swords was fun, and the museum and guided tour gave a great explanation of how all the social classes in feudal fitted and worked together. It's worth a visit.

Very good, Ryo was informative and polite. Would have been better if it was growns ups only. No cutting. Initially put us in the normal group when we had purchased the tour plus sword experience, so had to god back an hour later to do sword experience.

I cannot put into words how amazing this experience was. Our guide in the beginning was a young man named (SO) he was funny, informative, and passionate about his job. I then went upstairs to do the Samurai Experience and it was beyond any expectation I had. Both instructors were not only highly knowledgeable but made sure all safety precautions were taken care of multiple times. I left there feeling very different in an amazing way. I could not recommend this place enough!!
