Great experience at Osaka Grand Sumo tournament
Ken from Island Travel really made this experience special. Before I left Sydney, Ken was giving me tips and pointers on sumo. In Osaka he made sure that everything went smoothly. And I lucked in with a rare playoff for the title

      Fabulous day of Sumo
We got great advice on excellent seating for the tournament. Arrived early and saw lower level bouts all the way up to the top contenders. Extremely interesting; well spent day!

      Ken Rocks!!
Have you ever been on a tour and don’t feel like you’re on a tour?! Well, until my Sumo tournament with Ken, I also didn’t. Felt like hanging with a local with tons of knowledge and insight into Japanese culture. Thanks Ken, will definitely look you up when next Im in Tokyo.

Total Sumo Experience with a Knowledgeable Passionate Guide
Ken is a superb guide who will share his enthusiasm and deep knowledge of Sumo with you to help bring it to life. We wouldn’t have had nearly the total experience had we gone to the match on our own. Ken will make the experience hands on and above all fun. He is very gracious, friendly, and has a lot of respect for the traditions, history, and talent of the world of Sumo.

      Incredible tour with friendly guide.
Our guide was very knowledgeable about Sumo culture. He shared it with us in a friendly way. We visited nearby linked places before going to the Grand Tournament. The background information helped us appreciate the ceremonial side of the matches. I would highly recommend the tour.

Japanese as they really are today😀
Tokyo Giants vs. Yakult Swallows, what an outstandig experience! Thousands of escalating japanese men an women of all ages, both groups peacefully side by side. After all these Shrine-, Sumo- and Geisha-things… thats a part of todays culture in Tokyo (since 90 years). Despite a change of schedule (by the Giants), the event was fantastic because of the reaction of Ken. Fast, reliable and professional. Best seat! Excellent view! Perfectly organized.

Amazing tour with energetic guide Kenneth
We had a fantastic tour with Kenneth. Beautiful photos and videos were taken of us while we visited the temples in Tokyo dressed in traditional Japanese clothing. Kenneth is the best tour guide ever, full of energy.

Ken was a fantastic host for our small group and we had a great time learning about the sumo culture in Japan. He is very passionate and did a wonderful job teaching us about the lifestyle and how these athletes end up in the ring. We would highly recommend spending a few hours while in Tokyo to learn about sumo with Ken.

Very last minute decision to try to find tickets for the Grand Sumo Tournament in Nagayo. Ken helped and did his best to find us the best tickets possible. And on Sunday we received confirmation for Monday! So took the train from Osaka and had a great day. Ken informed me about the seating and rules in the stadium (& gave some great tips), as well as the app with a lot more Sumo info. Would highly recommend this unique Japanese, traditional experience!

We had a great day with Ken at the sumo tournament. If you've tried to find tickets to the tournament you know how difficult it is. Not only did Ken get us great seats, the pre-tournament tour of the Ryogoku sumo town area was wonderful. If you are visiting Japan and want to learn about this wonderful sport and it's culture then you need to check this out!

The tour was fun and interactive and kept our three kids (9, 14, 16) engaged throughout. Seeing the sumo wrestlers train up close really shows the impressive power and learning about the links to religion and culture is fantastic. Shame the stadium was not open due to the impending tournament.

Ken took us to some very interesting places around the sumo arena, some beautiful parks, historic spots and a wonderful samurai sword shop with gorgeous authentic handmade blades of all kinds and beautiful accessories.

This tour was entertaining, informative, and enjoyable in every way. Ken is an easygoing person, very flexible and willing to share all kinds of things that he has learned from being in Japan and I am grateful to him for a wonderful day.
