    Amazing experience!!
This was an amazing experience! Everything was very easy to follow and polite, her English is absolutely amazing as well, so conversations/instructions were very easy to follow. Highly recommend giving it a go! The food was delicious, and I'll definitely be going back the next time I visit Japan 🫶

The joy of Japanese home cooking
This was our third class with YUCa and we loved it as much as the first time! Yesterday we joined a ramen and gyoza class and made some delicious food and learned lots of new things. YUCa is very generous with sharing her knowledge and skills in Japanese cooking and customs. Will come back on our next visit to Japan. Thank you YUCa!

Learning authentic home-cooked Japanese food the easy way with patience and love.
We arrived mid-morning on the charming and old Sakura line train in Tokyo at YUCa’s lovely home kitchen. We were greeted so warmly by YUCa and also all of the other five guests who we had not met before. I’m always quite nervous in new situations like this, not knowing what to expect, but we were instantly out at ease with a wonderfully knowledgeable and generous host and a absolutely delightful group of people who were all here to do one thing: learn more about the subtleties and hidden secrets of actually cooking home style Japanese food. We’ve been interested in Japanese food for many years and learned much from books, and even YUCa’s own YouTube channel. However, nothing compares ideally with having direct tuition in coming and revealing those hidden secrets. Simple things like the tare spoon/ladle, which I’d seen so often, but never knew what to use it for (we’ll definitely be buying one!). Our planned course today was for ramen and gyoza. The ramen was a soy sauce based one taking us from making the broth and the tare, through to making and preparing all of the toppings. We even learned how to law the perfect marinated soft-boiled egg, which I have never been able to perfect. For the gyoza, we each had a role to play, from chopping vegetables, to adding all the oils and other flavours of these lovely dumplings. We then each mad as many as we could with available filling, making a “gyoza pizza” that was gently fried until crispy. Once cooked and prepared, we sat down to enjoy our lovely meal we made together and continue our lovely conversations, although there was also a lot of silence given how lovely the food was. We had a wonderful day and learned so much that we will all take home to our own kitchens and prepare for our families. A wis person once said “all we need in life is food and love” and today we had that in abundance. I can’t recommend YUCa’s course highly enough. We learned so much and in such an easygoing environment. The food was delicious and we were all amazed that we had made that together for the first time. If you get the chance watch some of YUCa’s YouTube videos, but better still attend one (or more) of her wonderful courses.

    Lovely experience in Tokyo
YUCa is an amazing person who knows everything about Japanese food, specifically Ramen and Gyoza in the course that we booked. She's very sweet and accustomed to people outside of Japan and I can't wait to try and make her recipe at home. Thank you YUCa :)

    YUCa okonomiyaki and gyoza class
YUCa was awesome, the class was terrific - YUCa took the time to explain what each of the ingredients were, provided recipes so we could cook the dishes at home, and gave us tip sheets of where to visit in the area for kitchen tools, food to try and where to go for vintage kimonos. Such a warm welcome, YUCa is a wonderful host and teacher - and the food was delicious! Definitely recommend!

A must for foodies who love Japanese cooking
We had such a wonderful home-style Japanese cooking class with Yuca. So many tips and info and actual hands on experience! Warm and welcoming atmosphere in Yuca’s own kitchen and everything is spot on. We have learnt a lot, and enjoyed the workshop as much as the meal itself.

    Highlight of our trip!
We did a home style Japanese cooking class with Yuca that was amazing. We made rice, broiled fish, fried chicken with homemade tartar sauce, dashi, miso soup with tofu, a Japanese omelet and finally we made pickled cucumber. Right away, Yuca welcomed us into her home and made us feel welcome. We sat and talked for a few minutes to get to know each other, and then we started cooking. Yuca is a pro. She managed our group (5 of us) very well, made sure we all had tasks and participated, and as we cooked, she continuously talked to us and patiently explained what we were doing and why we were doing it. From scrambling the egg with chopsticks without making bubbles, to cooking the fried chicken in a way that ensured as little oil as possible was absorbed into the chicken. She also taught us the technique of rolling the omelet and building it out in layers. We all walked away with a profound sense of the simplicity and the delicacy of good, home style Japanese cooking. It was really fun, and when we finished our trip (that included stops in Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo), we reflected and realized that the Cooking Class with YUCa was probably the highlight of the trip. If you want to learn about Japanese cooking with someone who can explain what you are doing, and why, who can artfully and simply tell you how to recreate the dish as prepared, but also vary it as desired, and frankly who was an absolute pleasure to be around, then I strongly encourage you to take YUCa’s class! Well worth it! And make sure you go get green tea ice cream at the place that she recommends. It was about a 10-15 minute leisurely flat walk, and it was awesome!

    Great experience over all
My family and I attended Yuka's cooking class during our recent trip to Tokyo. We had an amazing time learning how to cook ramen and gyoza with Yuka. She was so kind, patient, and fun. She explained every step and made sure. Our kids enjoyed learning how to make the gyozas and are looking forward to making them at home. Yuka also welcomed us with some hot tea and gave us a handout with tips on great places to shop. I recommend doing her class during your first days of your trip so you can get the local tips from Yuka. Thanks Yuka and we hope to come visit again soon to learn how to cook something new. 😀

Warm and engaging class in an authentic Japanese home
Yuca was warm and welcoming from the first, and the chance to tour an authentic Tokyo home was very unique. Her set-up is spacious, immaculate and modern. The class walked us through each step at a leisurely pace with lots of help, but independent enough that we’d feel confident making the dishes at home in future. A class size of four was warm and personal, and Yuco kindly catered to my dietary requirements without fuss. She is a consummate professional and someone who clearly loves what she does. Would recommend to anyone who loves good food, meeting new people, and trying something a little off the beaten track.

    A perfect cooking experience
I try to take a cooking class in Japan every year. The Gyoza & Okonomiyaki class with Yuca is, by far, the most useful and pleasant class I’ve had the privilege to take. Her recipes are clear and easy to understand, her directions and demonstrations break the main points down into simple steps. I never had any difficulties and everything tasted delicious. Yuca goes out of her way to make the experience enjoyable and provides enough information so that you can feel confident reproducing the dishes at home. I absolutely will go again!

Delicious and a great learning experience.
Yuca san's cooking class was such a great experience. It was a fun and relaxed atmosphere but we also learned a lot. I feel confident to try making Gyoza when I get home. Highly recommend this class - great for couples, groups or if you are travelling solo.

We decided we’d like to take a cooking class and learn how to make authentic Japanese food while in Japan for the first time. YUCa was sweet, friendly and knowledgeable - we enjoyed her company and her style of teaching. We were in a group with 3 other couples, but our host was very inclusive and gave everyone things to do and made sure everyone could see if she was demonstrating something. It was fun and rewarding to eat the meal we had prepared with YUCa’s guidance. We learned a lot, ate delicious food, she sent us home with recipes, and we got a chance to swap stories with the other members of the group. She also recommended some other areas of Tokyo to visit, which was appreciated and offered to let us wander a local grocery store with her after the class where she pointed out different ingredients and answered any questions we had. Overall, this experience was a great one and we would recommend it to others! We spent 3 weeks in Japan and ended our trip with this. Worth every penny!

The cooking class was such a relaxed and friendly setting. We really enjoyed learning about the steps and processes of creating such a delicious dish. And some of the Japanese traditions around food. Yuca is very knowledgeable, a great teacher and she is very kind and accomodating and it’s very easy to get too as it was a 5 minute walk from the train station. We would recommend doing this cooking class if you stay in Tokyo, enjoy food and want to learn how to make a delicious Ramen and gyoza.

Truly an awesome experience learning to cook japanese cuisine from lovely Yuca in her cooking studio, a Japanese home setting.
She conducts her class in fluent English for our group who travelled from France, Germany, Australia & Singapore.
We all had great fun in the hands-on class. Yuca also recommended activities to do in Tokyo & taught us some commonly used Japanese phrases.
Finally she accompanied us to the neighbourhood supermarket to show us what are the commonly used ingredients & sauces.
At the end of the class, all of us are confident that we will be able to replicate a ramen/gyoza meal to share with our family and friends.

Yuca

We had the complete delight of going to a cooking class with Yuca during our trip to Tokyo.

Yuca’s home is tucked away in a quiet street that really feels authentically Japanese. It was easy to find with Google Maps and we could walk from the station nearby.

Yuca is so friendly! She was incredibly welcoming to us and made us feel at home very quickly. Her home is clean and bright and she has the upstairs dedicated to her classes. She has created a cooking studio with the upstairs and it is set up well for guests.

Yuca talked us through the process of making pork ramen and Gyoza but also had vegetarian options for others in the group. She was knowledgable and clear and it was very easy to understand and follow the instructions. She also provided the recipes to take away.

The class had demonstrating and practical elements, with our group creating the 2 recipes and then sitting to eat. Yuca shared her knowledge of Japan and cooking and it was very interesting to listen to her and ask questions. The food was amazing!!

Yuca then took us to a local supermarket where she shared local Japanese delicacies.

We loved our visit to Yuca’s Japanese cooking and would 100% encourage anyone wanting a taste of Tokyo to book in to her class.

Yuca-san, thank you so much again. We are excited to continue seeing you on your YouTube channel!

Incredible time, the host is so kind and sweet, you’re warmly invited to her beautiful home, modern, bright, super clean but traditional Japanese feel. Everything was prepped, information sheets, cooking stations and supplies. The class is as hands on as you want to be, from making traditional soup stock, to pleating Gyoza -I’ve learnt so much from this class, I couldn’t wait to try it on my own! The food is delicious, as it cooks, just the scent in the air will make you hungry. I learnt so much more about Japan, and the culture here; a special part I loved about this tour especially, was the supermarket tour. I now know what to look for shopping in Japan, what different flavours and products are useful for, it has personally helped me during my stay. Definitely a must do on your trip!

I took Yuca's class with my 8 year old daughter and my cousin and we had a great time. The class is intimate with only 6 attendees and Yuca does amazing at including everyone equally. My daughter and I don't eat beef or pork and pork is huge in Japan but she made the menu soy ramen for this class to accommodate us, it's made from chicken bone instead of pork bone and we were so appreciative! We all left with recipes to recreate these delicious dishes at home and we can't wait!
